T4E Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Allardyce insisted however: "I'm not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Inter Milan or Real Madrid. It wouldn't be a problem to me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the double or the league every time. What the f**k is he playing at?

Roost Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 What a cocknose..............................
sweet Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 You have to question why, when we are seemingly so close to a takeover. With the possibility of millions coming in, he is coming out with things like this? He really doesn't seem to be very impressed with the possibile takeover, which leaves me somewhat slightly concerned.
rebelmswar Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Sweet I think your question is actually the answer.
Parsonblue Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 According to Lee on the official messageboard, the comment was made in answer to a question about Mark Hughes and was said with tongue firmly in cheek. Of course, the more sensitive anti-Allardyce souls are up in arms and wanting blood - which makes for fairly amusing reading, particularly as the takeover thread is grinding to a halt while discussions continue. The revelation that Kenny wanted to be back at Anfield at the start of 94-95 rather than at Ewood and that Paul Ince was let down by the players and not his own managerial shortcomings means that at least the managers are providing plenty of interesting reading!
Manc Rover Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 He's either gone completely bonkers, he's planning his exit strategy or he's trying to take pressure (even though there isn't any) off the players. Whatever his reasons you have to admit it's pretty funny!
beerwins Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Hughes got slated for having ambition and wanting to leave Rovers and people never forgave him, Sam does it all loud and proud in the press while he is still our manager. But hey ho eh, at least he entertains....himself.
LeChuck Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I'm beginning to think that maybe the Twitter page really is Sam after all. That statement is just bonkers. I have no doubt that it's tongue-in-cheek, but he should know how the media would pick up on it.

His outburst today is certainly on a par with the bizarre stuff on that Twitter feed.
Parsonblue Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I'm beginning to think that maybe the Twitter page really is Sam after all. That statement is just bonkers. I have no doubt that it's tongue-in-cheek, but he should know how the media would pick up on it. The media reported it word for word and no more. However, it's the posters on messageboards who seem to have taken a tongue-in-cheek comment and turned it into a major slight on the club or a sign that the manager is losing the plot and not a fit and proper person to manage Blackburn Rovers. I find the comments that Karl Robinson came out with this week about Big Sam tell us more about the manager and his ability to manage this club than some throwaway jocular remark in a press conference. Is Big Sam the greatest manager we have had? Obviously not. But at this moment in time I believe that he is the right man for the job. If the takeover went ahead I feel sure that he would do an excellent job - in the same way that Harry has done at Spurs. Both are popular figures with the media, both like to talk to the media and enjoy that side of the job and both are pretty decent at what they do best - managing a football club.
AHoyle90 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I think Big Sam is pretty hilarious tbh, he just says things to stir the media up its so blatant. He's deflecting everything away from our team, lets see if it works again against Fulham as it did against City.
Commondore Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Sam said the same many times whilst he was with us. He's not saying it tongue in cheek he truly believes he's good enough to manage Real Madrid etc and has only been held back by some sort of big club "consipiracy". Said the same sort of thing when he went for the England job. Good manager and all that, but has a massive chip on his shoulder that supports his very overinflated ego. However, when he's managing your club it doesn't really matter I guess. That said, it could all be a version of what Mourinho, Wenger and Ferguson are masters at: Being completely obnoxious @#/?s to draw flak and attention away from their players. Then again, is the problem of media disturbing your players really existiant outside the top 4-5?
nicko Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Sam has firmly believed he could manage a top European club for years. He said it often enough at Bolton. He does like to blow his trumpet, but who cares. If he wins against Fulham tomorrow he will be a God, if he loses he will take stick for it. It's only a game.
JohnD Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 It's only a game. What?!! I've reported this post. Disgraceful comment.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Cringed slightly when I read Sam's comments about Whinger.Yes,there is some truth in there but you just know the press are laughing behind Sam's back and almost egging him on to stirr the pot even more. We're never going to come out favourably when its an attack on the 'BIG CLUB' media darlings.
Steve Moss Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 What if Sam is actually sending out a message to a prospective new owner that he shares their lofty ambitions and shouldn't be cast aside for a "trendy" Sven or Mancini? I'd much rather have Sam than Mancini or Sven. It's only a game. Bill Shankly is rolling over in his grave.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Allardyce insisted however: "I'm not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Inter Milan or Real Madrid. It wouldn't be a problem to me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the double or the league every time. Sam does appear to have a problem with the VERY large diameter of his head me thinks. :!:
Mr. E Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 He really is starting to cross all lines. And what exactly is John Williams doing? It is his job to tell him to shut up already. It seems like BFS can do and say whatever he wants - but he's not allowed to spend a penny in the transfer market.
S15 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 How anybody doesn't find this absolutely hilarious is beyond me. I could't be happier that this man is our manager; Yesterday he's calling Wenger a c**t for no reason, and today he is saying he would win the double every year with Real Madrid. I can't bloody wait for tomorrow.
spencey7 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Will someone please sack this fat ###### clown.
Steve Moss Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 . . . Yesterday he's calling Wenger a c**t for no reason, . . . Does one need a reason?
thenodrog Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 ..... Yesterday he's calling Wenger a c**t for no reason, There is one very valid and very obvious reason.......
joey_big_nose Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Sam is hilarious! Is there a filmed version of the press conference? I imagine it was a throwaway comment.
