RibbleValleyRover Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Sam should shut his gob and do his talking on the pitch. If he feels that he could manage one of the very top clubs then prove it on the pitch by winning matches and trophies. If he feels that he should be considered for the England job in 2012 then prove it on the pitch by winning matches and trophies. These comments make him and our club look like morons. Focus on actions and results rather than words Sam.
The Gull Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 What he said was done so very much tongue in cheek FFS! Get a grip. The reaction from the media and commentators is laughable.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Let's face it, if the rumours about the wealth of our suitors prove correct, they would think nothing of blowing him out and bringing in their flavour of the month. Exactly, you would have thought Allardyce would be a bit more sensible with his comments,he's far from untouchable....just maybe needs a quiet word in his ear and a dig in the ribs!
FourLaneBlue Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 It is not too much of a surprise. Whenever Sam opens his mouth he embarrasses himself. If this was an attempt at a joke it merely shows just what a crappy sense of humour he has. Still, it isn´t as bad as his pathetic and needless reference to us buying the title. Having said that, if he gets us winning and staying up on pathetically little funding then he can say what he like. If we appear in danger, fans will turn very quickly on such a self-satisfied berk.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Sam's comments dominated tonight's 606 show: Podcast link for those that haven't listened to it. Some interesting comments from Sav, Rovers fans and fans from other clubs: http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/606
RevidgeBlue Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Living in fairy world so he is I was frankly seething after hearing a post match interview from Sam on Radio 5 with Stuart Hall. Hall asked him if he was happy with the level he was at i.e. at Blackburn Rovers and Sam had the perfect opportunity to say something like "You can never tell what's going to happen in football but at the moment I'm perfectly happy at Blackburn Rovers" Indeed as our manager on 40k plus per week I'd have expected him to say that. Instead he said something like "I always strive to better myself in footevery day and the day you fail to do that is the day you give up" Whether it is the case or not, Sam is givcing off the clear impression he is very unhappy at Ewood Park. Whilst he is contracted to be our manager he should give the position a bit more respect but more importantly, how long before this transmits itself to the players and they can't be bothered putting in a shift for him or the Club?

philipl Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I have always viewed Allardyce as "son of Ince". In other words Ince was so bad in destroying what Mark Hughes had achieved in 20 horrendous weeks of utter inadequacy and incompetence, we had no choice but to get a Manager to keep us up. Sam did that with something to spare then produced a top half finish. That has not only restored Rovers Premier League future but put us into a shop window where some pretty amazing offers are being talked about for "little old Rovers". Yes when we look at how the footballing side is developing at Bolton, we can say we took the wrong neighbour for where we have reached now but at least we have the opportunity to build from a top ten finish when probably nobody other than Sam in retrospect could have saved us from relegation in 2008/9. Sam is now trying to address other audiences than Rovers supporters and sadly for him they are scorning and laughing at him. For sure, he is setting an enormously high hurdle for himself for when the Rovers get new owners.
Exiled_Rover Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Allardyce would be the first guy out of the door for me if we got investment. His brand of football is only acceptable when you're fighting tooth and nail for survival.
Guest bluerovers Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Collins has never had a good word to say about Allardyce, or Rovers for that matter. But all this mockery of Sam is yet another chance for the club to be patronised. Williams needs to get him to shut his mouth and quickly. He mocks what Allardyce says yet on the same page is a link to a Dalgleish article where he says Liverpool can win the title if they beat Man U today.
MarkBRFC71 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 He has produced a scowling, muscular, intimidating side, much loved by the kind of people who don't much care for football and enjoyed watching Bolton. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1313278/PATRICK-COLLINS-Pity-poor-foreigners-Sam-Allardyce-gets-way.html? Collins is a t*** Unfortunately for the club that article is just about on the money - about the type of football we generally resort to, and the self-aggrandising berk we've got managing us. I can only think that maybe BFS has got wind that whoever's taking us over really doesn't want him here (despite what may have been said publicly)?
Bobby G Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Oh my. He has gone really OTT now I would say.
BPF Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 You've got to love Big Sam... "Welcome to Ewood Park, here we study live fitness information, prozone cameras are present all over the ground, we are huge on psychology and use it to our advantage. We are on the very cutting age of the sport." "So Sam, how do you take this data and turn it into effective tactical plays?" "I'll show you.....ROBBO.....STRAIGHT UP SON" "That doesn't seem to utilise anything that you've spoken about...." "There's more....Down the wings son! Down the wings! It never fails....10% of the time, that's what I call percentage play..." What he said was done so very much tongue in cheek FFS! Get a grip. The reaction from the media and commentators is laughable. Big Sam LOVES himself. I wouldn't be so confident in your opinion.
thenodrog Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I have emailed the special one over in spain to see if a work exchange can be agreed between Rovers and Real. The special one is hardly known for playing open and attractive football is he? He bought the two best wingers around at the time in Duff and Robben and then played them narrow. His charisma is obviously fantastic and his tactical nous excellent but it'd be very revealing to see how he'd go on in the Prem at an unfashionable club with no money to spend. His ego and outlandish conceited statements would not go down well here either. please...shut...up Balanced by the final two paragraphs. Did you not read that far down?

thenodrog Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 There speaks a voice of experience. Pardon?
braddock Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I hate him. Next time we sing 'Attack, attack, attack attack attack', I'm gonna be pointing at him, waiting for him to clutch his chest. This isn't a reactionary post - I've been doing it since mid way last season.
Rover-in-London Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I hate him. This isn't a reactionary post - I've been doing it since mid way last season. If it's not a reactionary post that makes you even more of a ****. I mean a lot of people on here don't support Allardyce and may even hate him but you've taken it to another level.
otto man Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 What he said was done so very much tongue in cheek FFS! Get a grip. The reaction from the media and commentators is laughable. You state that as an absolute. You were there during the interview? you've spoken to "The Fat One" since? Or are you as I suspect presuming it was "Tongue in cheek" It would seem he genuinely believes his own hype. As white in peace has already stated "The Fat One" came out with these same comments during his time at Notlob. The man's a legend in his own lunchttime!
T4E Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 please...shut...up Jeez. He's closer to Special Needs than he is Special One.
Mattyblue Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Sam has a lot of faith in his ability and thinks he is a top class manager, nothing wrong with having confidence in yourself. He is obviously very bitter that he is seen as some kind of football neanderthal, but these outbursts have ruined any chance he had to change peoples minds, he is now a figure of ridicule- a much worse situation than before. If be had quitely gone about his Rovers job, top half again, maybe a cup final, he could have salvaged some respect. Now he is just a prime target for mockery.
