You are obviously a very skilfull and very experienced player Henwah. Unfortunately I'm not talking about the JJB and park football opposition here.

btw So anyway how come you are'nt being paid millions per annum to play in the Prem then?

Mis-spent youth I guess ;)

what's up with playing for Wigan anyway?!

In seriousness though, I do know there is a big difference between park and top flight football, but a ball is a ball, and they spend their lives playing football - a decent first touch should not be beyond our expectations whereas decent long passers are harder to come by, hence the reason for Beckham being as renowned as he is (well, that and being quite a handsome chappy).

With all due respect I am sure you are a very fine player but a park footballer would struggle in semi-pro football, never mind the Premier League. The best top class players are a perfect mix of power, strength, pace, skill and speed of thought which is why players such as Keith Andrews who excelled two divisions lower struggles in the top flight.

Forget me, that wasn't my point at all - I was just responding to the comment suggesting I'd obviously never played football if I expected our players to be able to control a pass from 20 yards away.

I don't expect our players to be the best top class players, I just want the defence and the midfield to try and keep possession of the ball at the back better when not under much pressure. Most teams allow the back 4/5 players to have a decent amount of time on the ball and only start pressing around the halfway line, yet we seem over-eager to fire it long early, which does not give the team a chance to get up in support.

There is a point when 'putting it in the mixer' starts to look more like desperate defending/hopeful punts, and merely presents the ball back to the opposition.

I agree with this, it used to puzzle me a lot last season because we'd pass it around a bit, keep it in the same spot and then boot it up field. Always seemed completely pointless to me (and it was). I've noticed it less this season, but it still happens. Kalinic has been doing well though to get on the end of the long balls and bring the Dioufs into play, but I'd like to see some more possession football on occasion, especially if we're in the lead.

I needed some time to think about this reply but I have to say I am disappointed in Sam with even coming out and saying anything. Sam knows whenever you speak to the mediayou have to be very careful what you say as in all instances they blow these things way out of proportion. Then later him and the club as a whole become a laughing stock. I think JW needs to tell him to keep a lid on things. Sometimes I do believe he does speak sense especially about the fact Arsene Whinger is trying to influence ref's before a game. I am though disappointed with Sam seeing as though we gave him his chance after his debacle at the Toon and for making the people who pays his wages a laughing stock is not good. Personally if I was Syed and heard these comments as soon as the takeover goes through I would get rid because from the off, Syed has given Sam his backing and hearing these comments he'd be right in thinking this chap is cutting the hand off that feeds him. Also by these comments he is disrespecting Jack and everything that he did for us & ask yourselves the question if Jack was still alive today would he have stood for Sam's comments? He would be gone for sure. The old man will be turning over in his grave. I also think by saying all this he is also disrespecting our beloved club ok we might not be a Chelsea at the moment but we are a big club in our own right with big traditions & values & we were a top 4 club once,& with correct investment might get to that level again with a little help from Syed.

Rant over! :angry2:

If I was writing this during the summer I think I would have agreed with shilly.

As the situation stands though, I'm in agreement with Mark. Perhaps not as crass as sacking him, but I'd certainly be putting pressure on him to look elsewhere. To be fair I don't think he'd need much persuading, I think he'd take another job if he could find one.

He's only alienated himself from the supporters more over the last month or so, both with his interviews (the 'bought the title' one sticks in my mind) and style of play.

Welcome to the party, a bit late, but since you've brought a bottle we'll let you in :P

At the rate Sam is going I'll be showing up with decks and my record collection.

We went through all this and far worse halfway through last season and we finished in storming fashion. The problem you've got if you go this route is to find a new manager who is available, affordable and GUARANTEED to keep us up. I think this would be a

real problem. For example I'd reckon Owen Coyle would fulfil 2 of those 3 criteria but he isn't available (unless Nicko knows different!) The real danger is getting someone who is available, is affordable but can't keep a poorish squad up.

We don't have a poorish squad.

its like posion, the longer sam is in charge, the more difficult reforms would be in future. i remember some journalist mentioning about such negative influence sam has on teams he took charge of...... and the type of repercussions that followed. it would take seasons to rectify it....... if the posion doesn't actually caused us to get relegated.

sorry but, negative footbal is at its best this season for rovers, not taking credit away from sam for building such an industrially efficient team. But thats not football........
