[Archived] Sam Allardyce

Recommended Posts

I´ve been away from England for 3 months now, so I´ve got a slightly different perspective from those you have been watching Ince's team week-in, week-out. Simply listening to the noises coming out of ewood, the performances and reviews we have been receiving it was obvious that the players weren't playing for Ince and that he had lost the dressing. I think its fair to say that he was never in a million years going to be able to turn all that around and suddenly start pulling performances from the players. He had to go.

I think its also fair to say that many posters on here have grand delusions about Blackburn Rovers, the town, the people and the club. Roberto Mancini is not going to leave hus cushy live in Italy to come and work in one of the poorest towns in the country, infront of 15-20k fans, with no money to spend and rainy summers. If he lost his first 5 games and started making little Italian gestures to the ref from the touchline, what would the steelworker on row 25 think? He wouldn't stand a chance.

Big Sam is a Northern bloke, he knows what it means to scrape victories together and make it difficult for the opponents. If you hadn't noticed, this was also at the forefront of Hughes's gameplan for at least his first 2 years at Ewood. When Sam left Bolton he had brought in players like Okocha, Anelka, Diouf and co...all top class talents who can produce good football. Im sure his heart is in the right place and having had a year of to study the game at his own pace he might well have different ideas now on how to progress a team once he has started to grind out results.

He was the only appointment for Rovers in the first place and we're lucky he's still available now.

The only man for the job.

nice one mate best comments ive read on here all day lets get behind sam and stay positive gt harwood blues

I'm gonna save this thread for future reference and all the clowns in here will see for themselves what they were posting when we go down in a season or so.

I was laughed at at previous predictions all the way back to when we sold Duff, but so far everything bad I've predicted has come true. So when the time comes I'll have this thread ready. Not that it'll give me any satisfaction, but I'm tired of the same thing happening over and over again.

Thers only one clown and thats you!The sad thing about someone like you is you HOPE allardyce fails well if he does mate we will be in div one.I think you would be better supporting one of the big four!Sam did a great job at bolton, would you call okocha, anelka, campo, djorkaeff, stelios, ben haim, diouf, jaskellianen and nolan bad players? We need everyone to get behind the manager and the team and if you cant do that just bog off

Any clue on the rest of them?

Mcdonald has a job as head coach of leeds he's only been there a few months. Does this mean we have some money? Leeds will want compo will they not.

Is it all Sam's men? will there be a club appointment involved in the coaching set-up?

I think this has happened so fast that things like staff will happen later.

One thing was sure - when Ince went the next guy had to be in quick.

Stoke City at home defines your season.

Win and you can stay up, any other result and you might as well forget it.

Im excited by the appointment and im absolutely looking forward to being the most hated team in the premiership again :rover: bring it on!

As for Mr.E...can a moderator please ban him. I know people are entitled to their opinions but this guy is clueless and actually must be a dingle. Reading his absolute drivel is not what the fans of this club need at the moment.

Bring on Stoke.

That's a little bit over the top dont you think? Were only 17 games in and 8 points from 10th place. Sour grapes because this happened so fast you cant fill some pages with crap about possible candidates before the weekend :rover:

Read again. In a previous post I said Allerdyce might keep us up, but he will leave at the first opportunity and we will be back where we started - going down, and relying on a miracle manager to save us. It's not gonna happen every time. As long as we keep appointing people who are not ready to give their all for the long-future stability of the club, we will keep gambling with short-term solutions, which sooner rather than later will bring us down.

This is nothing to do with pessimism, this is simply the reality of our situation. People do not want to face it, and that's why they are blaming Ince for everything.

How has your prediction that Sam would never join worked out.

Did you predict all the good stuff that happened to us since Duff left - Hughes' reign, European football, top 7 finishes, having some quality players at the club..

Have you ever made a positive prediction?

No, you're just a guy who always predicts the worst and brags on the few occasions when it actually happens.

Idiot.

short-term solutions ? He signed a 3 year deal...

Nothing to do with pessimism ? Are You kidding ?

Simply the reality of our situation ? What situation ? 19th ? That happened with Ince in "control".... (And thats why I blame Ince)

No piggy, definitely.

Anyway, judging by where Michael Laudrup my choice this summer has taken his team to, I don't think we would have been in need of a new manager now had he been appointed:

1. Rubin 30 18 6 6 18 60

2. CSKA Moscow 30 16 8 6 29 56 (Laudrup's new club- positive GD of 29)

3. Dynamo Moscow 30 15 9 6 12 54

4. Amkar 30 14 9 7 9 51

5. Zenit 30 12 12 6 22 48

Thats incorrect as he is manager of Spartak Moscow who actually aren't doing so well.

He has tried to get them playing passing football like at Getafe and has had a hard time of trying to get it to work.

Check back a fortnight for the two crap names then... :glare:

If you think Stoke isn't decisiveyou had better check the league table and the fixture list.

Win that and the ball is rolling.

Anything less...and it's over.

Absolutely, Rev. I have to admit that I was totally against Sam in the summer, but as events have unfolded I haver come to accept the idea and I am now quite pleased to see him as our manager.

His obvious delight in being appointed and the fact that I have seem him at several of our matches over the last few months has given me reason to believe that he knows exactly what he is getting and I have every reason to think that he will do the business for us.

Let's face it mum, the wily old walrus probably knew last July that he'd be getting a phone call from John Williams some time in December.

More fool Williams for not making it at least 3 games ago!

Of course its a massive game which we need to win but i wouldn't say its game over if we lose. Luckily we got him in now. He has Christmas to asses his squad before deciding the ins and outs for the january window. Of course we need to win over christmas, im not saying he can treat it like pre-season. But to say its game over after 2 days on the training pitch when were not even half way through the season.

Eh, We might have a decent chance in our January run - don't think it will be over if we lose, but it will a hard fight to win.

Btw, PL is weird this year. Everyone beating everyone except us and Brom - until now !

9/10 of all posts towards me are personal attacks, while I have not insulted a single person.

I'm not at the least bit offended, because as I said the exact same thing has happened before, and I was right. There's nothing much to say anymore, besides the fact that people will vent their anger and blame anyone other than themselves.

Personally the reasons I was against Allardyce in the summer and again now are threefold:-

a) He is a crook.

B) He sends his teams out to kick, cheat and dive systematically.

c) I've never been able to remember how to spell his name.

On saying that, now that he is in place, I think we should all get behind the team and hope we can stay up and not become as nasty as Bolton were. Sometimes a manager just gets a team to play in the best way they can with the players he has and at Rovers he has far better players than he had for most of his time over there. Look at us when Hughes first took over, we were dismal that first season but improved after.

Similarly to Hughes I can see Allardyce concentrating on organising the defence and then relying on the good players we have got up front to get enough goals to win a few games, if he can get the back sorted I'm sure we'll be OK because with RSC, Benni, Roberts and Derbyshire we have a really good strikeforce.

It's not Sam's fault he has only just got the job.

So much damage has been done, ground lost and points wasted that it is a hell of a mess.

Nobody could have seen Hull City be so far above the drop zone, nobody would have said Stoke would be quite clear as well...

There is only West Brom just now who you could honestly say you will finish in front of.

Stoke CAN be caught, but that takes a win on Saturday. Nothing less.

If you don't beat Stoke they will still be seven points in front...and that is a gap.

Win that and Sunderland [away] and Man City [home] become more winnable.

Then you have to find a third team to get in your sights...by beating one of them. Maybe both.

But if you draw or lose to Stoke then you will be so far adrift that you will either be rock bottom at Christmas [if West Brom beat Man City] or MORE than six points from safety.

In fairness Nicko, the same could have been said of the Wigan game. I guess we'll find out though!

Well lets hope your wrong! Now you have put it like that it's ruined my mood a bit. I'm sure Stoke are up for spoiling the party aswell.
