Stuart Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 9/10 of all posts towards me are personal attacks, while I have not insulted a single person. I'm not at the least bit offended, because as I said the exact same thing has happened before, and I was right. There's nothing much to say anymore, besides the fact that people will vent their anger and blame anyone other than themselves. But it is insulting when you are implying that anyone supporting Allardyce is a fool - and describing posters on this thread as "all the clowns in here" was simply part of your endearing charm was it? Go on have a go at trying to type out a positive post, you know you want to.

nicko Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Well lets hope your wrong! Now you have put it like that it's ruined my mood a bit. I'm sure Stoke are up for spoiling the party aswell. For what it's worth I think you'll win. But those kind of tips usually see me working the next week to pay for them.
philipl Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Apologies for that mistake, got the wrong Moscow club. By any measure our position in the League is desperate. When you are in as much relegation trouble as we are, wins become imperative. And if we don't win with the new boss effect on our side, the situation becomes unbelievably grim.
CrazyIvan Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Big Sam is a Northern bloke Actually, Big Sam is from Dudley...
nicko Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 nicko have you heard any more details about sams appointment, firstly does he have to sell santa cruz and secondly have the board promised him money if so how much? Rovers have NEVER had to sell Roque for financial reasons. There is a clause in his contract that would see him go for a massvie amount of money - in the region of £18 million-plus. Only Man City have any interest and they don't want to pay that price. I think Roque will stay as long as Sam doesn't fancy cashing in...he would be crazy to sell unless City offer the 'trigger figure.' It's unfortunate that the clubs are both in the drop zone - but the final word will be how much City want him and if they will pay that massive fee.
thenodrog Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I was all for giving Ince time. That time came and went. My patience finally cracked at Wigan. Not quite nuff said! Correct. Not being funny TDI but why do you think we should give any credence to your opinion on the Allardyce appointment now after your last judgement was so obviously flawed?
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I'm gonna save this thread for future reference and all the clowns in here will see for themselves what they were posting when we go down in a season or so. I was laughed at at previous predictions all the way back to when we sold Duff, but so far everything bad I've predicted has come true. So when the time comes I'll have this thread ready. Not that it'll give me any satisfaction, but I'm tired of the same thing happening over and over again. Time for you to find another club to 'support' Mr E......
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I'm sure Hughes would like Santa at Eastlands but I'm not sure anyone else would. He's not a great improvement on what they've already got. If they want to challenge the " Big Four" they need to be taking players off them, or at least be signing more of the players the " Big Four" would like to sign like Robinho. The like of Santa, Warnock and Samba will get them exactly where they are now. Looks like they've missed out on Diarra as well.
Silencio Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Rovers have NEVER had to sell Roque for financial reasons. Nicko, do you think the Board will have realised they need to pull some money out of the bag? I would have thought Allardyce would be in a position to demand a decent budget in January as a provision of taking the job. I got the feeling that the Board lost confidence in Ince's transfer ability during the Summer and didn't back him (which is why they should have sacked him before the season started).
thenodrog Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 No piggy, definitely. Anyway, judging by where Michael Laudrup my choice this summer has taken his team to, I don't think we would have been in need of a new manager now had he been appointed: I don't rem that..... To save me checking back on which day were you in favour of us appointing Michael Laudrup?
tony gale's mic Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 Anyone with any sense would've picked Laudrup as our first choice in the summer. Mancini was tempting and tantalising, but unlike the appointment of Ince I can actually see why JW has gone for Allardyce in this instance.
Tony Diamond Inc Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Correct. Not being funny TDI but why do you think we should give any credence to your opinion on the Allardyce appointment now after your last judgement was so obviously flawed? Fair comment. I was wrong over Ince, however, being wrong is not something I'm very familiar with. Like I said, I'd love to be sooo wrong over this one!!
thenodrog Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Read again. In a previous post I said Allerdyce might keep us up, but he will leave at the first opportunity and we will be back where we started - going down, and relying on a miracle manager to save us. It's not gonna happen every time. As long as we keep appointing people who are not ready to give their all for the long-future stability of the club, we will keep gambling with short-term solutions, which sooner rather than later will bring us down. I'm not sure that I understand your point correctly but thats the way it is at every club outside the top 6 or so. You will never stifle ambition. When Ince came here he dropped MK Dons like a hot potato. All this shyte of the past few months happened cos Hughes was punching above his weight season after season and he became coveted by other clubs. If he had been crap we'd have sacked him and thats the way it is.
thenodrog Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Desperate times call for desperate measures. There's little to like about the man but we can't afford to be choosers and he does have the know-how to keep us up and actually get us functioning as a team. Not sure who else we could really have taken a chance on. Eh? Have you met him?
Mozzer Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 im really happy about this appointment.. i originally wanted him over ince in the summer... i think hes perfect for blackburn and blackburn are perfect for him.. he has the experience of working in this league and did well at bolton who are similar to ourselves.. he also has a good eye for a player and a bargain(a bit like mark hughes did)-and this will suit us.. welcome big sam..altho it should of been 5months ago that you was appointed..
thenodrog Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 No piggy, definitely. Anyway, judging by where Michael Laudrup my choice this summer has taken his team to, I don't think we would have been in need of a new manager now had he been appointed: 1. Rubin 30 18 6 6 18 60 2. CSKA Moscow 30 16 8 6 29 56 (Laudrup's new club- positive GD of 29) 3. Dynamo Moscow 30 15 9 6 12 54 4. Amkar 30 14 9 7 9 51 5. Zenit 30 12 12 6 22 48 Thats incorrect as he is manager of Spartak Moscow who actually aren't doing so well. He has tried to get them playing passing football like at Getafe and has had a hard time of trying to get it to work. Now that is FUNNY! Messagboard Gold candidate without a doubt! Gunner when you tell lies and change your mind so much it is of paramount importance to have a good memory.
philipl Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I don't rem that..... To save me checking back on which day were you in favour of us appointing Michael Laudrup? Consistently on that one when he came into the equation piggy. And I have done something re the Moscow mistake you are incapable of, owned up to my mistake and said sorry.
thenodrog Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Apologies for that mistake, got the wrong Moscow club. Looks like you would have chosen the wrong manager too. But fair do's I wanted Laudrup when it was a straight choice between him and Paul Ince....... truth is I'd have taken Charlie Caroli before Paul Ince at that time.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Excellent appointment. Not bothered about our style of play; as long as we stay up. Look at the job Sam did at Bolton with @#/? players he had their. This current rovers squad has much more talent than Boltin did in Sams first 2-3 seasons as manager.
thenodrog Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Just a side issue. The grey Gerry and Sylia Anderson cartoon character suit will have to go. Strictly charcoal grey or navy blue for Sam.
nicko Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Nicko, do you think the Board will have realised they need to pull some money out of the bag? I got the feeling that the Board lost confidence in Ince's transfer ability during the Summer and didn't back him (which is why they should have sacked him before the season started). It will be interesting to see how much is spent in January. Mind you if the results go badly in the next few weeks there might be no point.
imy9 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Really happy to see Big Sam at Rovers. Someone at work said that Rovers would be relegated with Sam in charge, my best mate (who is a massive Bolton fan) said that he would be willing to stake £100 that Big Sam would keep us in the PL. He has said that all the players will be super fit, know their positions tactically and be given feedback after game, strengths, weaknesses, amount run, etc through pro zone, so our players will not see too much difference between Sam and Hughes.
Fraserkirky Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Excellent appointment. Not bothered about our style of play; as long as we stay up. Look at the job Sam did at Bolton with @#/? players he had their. This current rovers squad has much more talent than Boltin did in Sams first 2-3 seasons as manager. Good point, the quality in our squad is better than Bolton's was/is. Sam must be rubbing his hands. -A couple of clever signings in Jan. -A win on saturday and a draw/win at sunderland will see me very confident in us beating the drop. Well done Mr Williams.
Billy Castell Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Anyone with any sense would've picked Laudrup as our first choice in the summer. Mancini was tempting and tantalising, but unlike the appointment of Ince I can actually see why JW has gone for Allardyce in this instance. Laudrup was interested in another jobas well, I forget which, and there were stories about him insisting on a clause allowing to move to any Spanish club that became interested. Assuming that is true, he may have wanted the same clauses with us. And then it would have been Craig Bellamy all over again. As for Mancini, as someone pointed out somewhere, he won the titles had no challenge from Juve and AC Milan. He also had Sinsa Maijilovic as assistant, an utterly vile little man, and had a reputation for crap man management.
