den Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 i will give you a clue..pass is when it goes from one of your players to another of your players!!! So that table only tells us that 22% of our passes went to our player. That means that Bolton might hoof it more than us, but aren't as precise as us?

brian_gallagher85 Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I see Big Sams horse has just won at Doncaster at 10/1....Hoof It! Gutted I've just seen that it was running
broadsword Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 So that table only tells us that 22% of our passes went to our player. That means that Bolton might hoof it more than us, but aren't as precise as us? i thought it meant 1 out of every 5 balls is sent long? what would be more valuable is knowing how many forward passes are sent long. In any case, it's a fairly crude statistic. More meaningful would be what % of fans are fed up watching gash football.
AndyNeil Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I don't even know were to start on the subject of the Allardyce - can't stand him as a person or his 'style' of football and I think more and more people are openly starting to question his methods, signings and tactics. David Beckham plays "long balls", we just boot it half the time in the general directon we want the ball to go. If Allardyce REALLY thinks that this stye of football is effective then the longer we have him in charge there further we are going backwards as a club. I could go on and on, but what is the point - going to Ewood these days is hard work, which it shouldn't be. People say that you don't support the manager you support the club, but when IMO the manager is sucking the enjoyment of going to the match how are you supposed to deal with that? I pray for the day Allardyce gets his wish and a bigger club come in for him. I don't expect total football and I will always supports Rovers, but the hoofball dross (in general) we have had to suffer for nearly two years is testing my loyalty of attending matches to the extreme.

If Allardyce REALLY thinks that this stye of football is effective then the longer we have him in charge there further we are going backwards as a club. How dare you come out with such outrageous statements? After all Allardyce is the manager who saved us from relegation and is the only manager capable of keeping us in this division. I'm just surprised no-one else has come on here and said the same things as me. And that is one of the problems at the moment-people have to be in one camp or another. People will not accept opinions that don't reflect their own. I am grateful for Allardyce keeping us up. I am critical of a number of things he does-and what I don't like is the reaction to any criticism that is made of him: some posters seem to believe it's unacceptable to raise issues about him. I don't, but I rarely post my points as it could just lead to potential attacks.

I understand everything you say about the football we play because it's far from entertaining but just look back to the 2008/2009 season, that is when going to Ewood was hard work! I don't know about anyone else but I went to games that season with no hope of beating the big boys, no hope of keeping a clean sheet, no hope of pretty much anything. A total contrast to going to Ewood these days, I actually go to the games with some belief that we'll get something from the game

Who do you think is going to score the goals each week?

gumboots Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 The Rovers players? But which ones? We're not exactly looking like scoring loads - look at the Sunderland game where our only likely looking shot on target was the Pedersen free kick - and I wonder each time I see Rovers just whether we will actually manage a 1-0 and find myself saying no.

All of 'em, even Robbo has a goal in him
gumboots Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 All of 'em, even Robbo has a goal in him To be honest, I think he's more likely to score than most of the rest of the team.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I really like Big Sam but I really hate his style of play. Surely with the amount of stats he has, he must at some point realise that his style of football is awful and it isn't working this season. I want to see Big Sam stay at Ewood Park but I want him to change his tactics.
MarkBRFC71 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I want to see Big Sam stay at Ewood Park but I want him to change his tactics. I think you're going to have to choose one or the other.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Unfortunately I totally agree with you.
Dan Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Why are Madrid taking so long to sack Jose and offer Sam the job? Do you reckon he will hold out for the Man Yoo job instead?
JMillZz Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Ok we need someone to risk arrest/institutionalisation. Someone climb on top of one of the stands (somehow) at the start of the game with a loud speaker and threaten to jump unless Big Sam changes his tactics. He may change them out of shock before the jump or if that fails one martyr will lose his life for his beloved rovers and love of good football. Or he'll get arrested. There are some slight flaws but it's so crazy it just might work. Drastic times call for drastic measures.

I want to see Big Sam stay at Ewood Park but I want him to change his tactics. I said this at half time. There is no way on gods green earth that he can have gone in at half time and been content with us having just 25% of the ball. we did well to scrape it back to 56/46 in the end. the first half was about as bad as i've seen us play. hoof it forwards, watch an inexperienced target man get nowhere near the ball, and then watch liverpool pass it about and cut us open. rinse and repeat.

Not sure if you noticed, but Sam did change his tactics after Grella's introduction and we played the ball along the ground, and controlled possession for large periods in the second half. To actually condone someone committing suicide in order to change tactics is moronic. Well done to everyone who +1d this idiot for reaching an all new low!

Anymore stupid suggestions where that one came from?
Backroom Tom Posted October 24, 2010 Backroom Posted October 24, 2010 To Sam's credit I thought on Monday he got the second half tactics spot on, unfortunately the first half ones were suspect. Hopefully when reviewing the footage of these last two games him and his staff will note how we looked far better with the ball on the deck and have a different approach against Chelsea. If not Terry vs Kalinic in an aerial battle will be a walkover.
