joey_big_nose Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I hope Sam can stay on and get the success he had in the last season of Bolton where they were 4th or 5th. sure he has the ability to do it. The fact Blackburn are still in the PL is a miricle, to me SA has turned chicken sh£t into gold with the terrible funding he has had available. The last three years Blackburn have been nothing more then a coat hanger. a jay jay okocha style player and an Anelka par striker will shut up the haters. Especially impressive when you consider what he has achieved in the context of possessing no good strikers, and the only really decent midfielder is EHD who he brought in - plus he is now getting a lot more out of Pedersen and Roberts, and bringing in through real young talent in Jones and Hoilett.. Only thing I hold against him is Kalinic who looks a complete waste.

RibbleValleyRover Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Owners back Sam "We want results and Sam has taken up the challenge. He deserves a chance," Venky's chairman Anuradha Desai said.
67splitscreen Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 If Sam signs RSC, IMO it will make or break any new contract he may want.
John Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 'Managers do amazing jobs to cope with and solve clubs' financial problems and then, later on down the line, find themselves out of a job. I was concerned about that. I was worried about the massive risks we had to take on players like Steven Nzonzi, Nikola Kalinic and Franco Di Santo. 'These were young players who had to perform in the Premier League and replace players like Roque Santa Cruz and Tugay. 'Do you realise how hard that is? Comfortable, I was not.
SamTheShrew Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 "Talking beneath a banner encouraging young Blackburn players to 'Pass and Move', he said: 'At Blackburn, the fans are entertained by putting the ball in the opponent's box and creating chances to score goals. Not particularly by making 35 passes in your own half" Ha - a bit presumptious to tell us what we want Sam. A few more passes in the opposition half wouldn't go amiss, but keep up the good work, at least you have shown recently that we can knock it around a bit.
chaddyrovers Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Big Sam has done a great job when you think what things were like when he came in. Paul Ince had wreck rovers and the players were down and out, and we were going down!!! He had to sell his best players like RSC and SW and replace them with cheaper options like Givet, Chimbonda and Kalinic. Last season we finish 10th and a semi final in the League Cup. I have been very positive about this season under BS. He's trying to play some better football this season and attacking abit more. He deserve alot of credit for the job he's done here. I personally think that the new owners should keep BS for another 3 years and let him built on what He already started here. All we are lacking is a quality left back, midfield playmaker and VERY GOOD QUALITY striker!!! And with that we can finish top 8!!!
bringdunnback Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 And so we await the many calls for Allardyce's head, before you do think about where we might actually be had he not taken over Ince 2 years ago, who got us top 10 last year and who this season, despite no finances, has kept us competitive in the best league in the world
Darwen Rover Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Think SAMs done a great job on the whole given resources and situation... What's the alternative??
John Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 What's the alternative?? Depends who Kentaro/SEM fancy....
Backroom Tom Posted November 27, 2010 Backroom Posted November 27, 2010 Surprisingly I'm defending Sam today. Today's showing was a disgrace but we are sat in thirteenth at the mo. With a months worth of important games ahead now is not the time to change
PAFELL Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 And so we await the many calls for Allardyce's head, before you do think about where we might actually be had he not taken over Ince 2 years ago, who got us top 10 last year and who this season, despite no finances, has kept us competitive in the best league in the world That was under the old regime. I am not sure if I want Sam sacked now. But this result and worse of all the performance may give the Venky's the 'excuse' to get rid of him. Yes Sam kept us up, got us to 10th last season. Grateful. But a part of me is saying, maybe it is time to get somebody else in. But who? Interesting sam and fergy are good mates. Man u had a worse goal difference to Chelsea, before to day. Sam has done is mate a favour.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 If we lose the Wolves game and it's not close then he's gone imo (2 or 3-0 loss for example). Can't see the owners being patient and I get the impression Kentaro/SEM will be suggesting names to them after this United result.
sweet Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 preferably one of those names being owen coyle, if anyone. the guy has proven he can keep a team competitive in the prem league playing good football, twice now. Also he has form for jumping ship halfway through a season to a rival, for greener grass. If venkys are really being coy about the funds available in jan and subsequent seasons then im sure he'd be tempted.
gumboots Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 That was under the old regime. I am not sure if I want Sam sacked now. Sam has done is mate a favour. Surely you're not suggesting collusion there! To be honest, I don't like Allardyce and he has come close at times to making me fall out of love with my team, but I don't want an out of the frying pan into the fire situation, so I just hope they don't sack without being really sure of who they want in. However, if they are going to get rid they are going to have to do it sooner rather than later as the January window will soon be upon us and anyone coming in would need time to assess targets and decide where to prioritise spending. I haven't seen the match, although my poor husband went with a load of Utd supporters, so I'm not commenting but when my husband describes it as a slaughter after only the 3rd goal, and my daughter who is watching at work says it's a disgrace, i think I can take it it was appalling.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Suggesting Sam went out there to get hammered is ludicrous. We were poor like we frequently are, and caught United at a time when they're looking to give someone a pasting. 7-1 at Old Trafford won't affect our season. Failing to beat Wolves at home absolutely will.
beerwins Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I dont want Sam to be sacked, he does'nt deserve that, he has done reasonably well at Rovers but he certainly isnt the man to lead us forward with attractive football whilst climbing the table. As was said by the owners that they want to be entertained while climbing the table we all know that Sam will never change his ways and sooner or later because of conflicts of interest he will not be the manager of Rovers, my guess will be the end of the season he will stand down as a manager for some TV job. I hope that the owners are looking at replacement managers and dont rush into the wrong one and that they treat Sam fairly, I think he already is feeling a bit of the pressure as his interview on BBC was very strange to which none of the pundits agreed with he also said that he told the team to sit back at 3-0 and hold what we had He did apologise to the fans so he certainly is losing it
Exiled in Toronto Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Still, at least he spent the week training England's next centre half on taking long throws
Backroom Tom Posted November 27, 2010 Backroom Posted November 27, 2010 Coyle wouldn't come here and with good reason he's comfortable there. Hughes or moyes may be tempted at present though.
ABBEY Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 And so we await the many calls for Allardyce's head, before you do think about where we might actually be had he not taken over Ince 2 years ago, who got us top 10 last year and who this season, despite no finances, has kept us competitive in the best league in the world if shipping 7 is competing then I'm bin laden.
sweet Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Coyle wouldn't come here and with good reason he's comfortable there. Hughes or moyes may be tempted at present though. Absolutely no chance! Coyle is a million times more likely to come to us than the other two!!! And like I said, I only think he would come if we had serious money available.
BuckyRover Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Absolutely no chance! Coyle is a million times more likely to come to us than the other two!!! And like I said, I only think he would come if we had serious money available. I fear that we missed the window opportunity when he was Burnley manager.
allanncd Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Moyes might be tempted to Rovers?? What planet do you live on?? All the Sam-sackers need to seriously think about who would want to come to Venkys Park -apart from the out of work like Suntan Brown. Rovers are not Man City- funds are still limited.Be careful what you wish for.
beerwins Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I fear that we missed the window opportunity when he was Burnley manager. He's a motivator and has his teams working hard and playing good football....oh how we missed the boat on that one.
Backroom Tom Posted November 27, 2010 Backroom Posted November 27, 2010 Reason I said moyes as he may be out of a job himself before too long if he isn't careful.
