why? Go on show me where I'm wrong..4-1 IS better than than three nil..???????

The point he was making is after coneeding seven it was really important for the defence and keepers confidence to keep a clean sheet. So while its more fun to score more and normally I would agree and rather win 4-1 than 3-0, in this case 3-0 was actually the better result for us.

At least I think that was it...

Chap at work commented on the fact that at no time during the game did the Blackburn end chant 'Big Sams blue & white army'. TBH I can't remember if this was right or not but quite telling if true.

The Blackburn End don't chant anything much these days. The Darwen End is the place to be it seems for the 'proper' more dedicated supporters.

You'd expect the Blackburn End to be seriously hurting after the Scum U drubbing, so until Allardyce defeats Scum U convincingly, I wouldnt be expecting them to chant his name as he let himself and Blackburn Rovers down bigtime with that defeat.

They wont forget that is for sure.

Without reading the whole of this long thread I'm not sure whether this has been covered. I think there is a real unity in the squad at the moment and everyone seems to be pulling in the same direction. Surely that has to be down to the manager. It seems to me that the players are enjoying their football at the moment.

I really dont know what the critics of big sam expect. In my opinion he is doing a pretty good job and playing some decent football in places (chelsea and wolves for example), on a shoe string budget whilst nurturing some young talent. One thing Allardyce has over Hughes for me is this willingness to give younger players a chance to develop. Jones, Olson, hoilett, morris, hanley to name but a few.

I only watched the sky highlights, but one thing I noticed from the TV pictures was the amount of empty seats. It could have been because of the weather. But I heard the game via Roversworld and it was quiet. But even live games on TV the atmosphere from Rovers supporters is often quiet - you normally hear the away support more.

But I suppose some people cannot sing after losing 7 1 the week before - hard to sing when still in shock!!!!!!

Ironically with newcastle sacking their manager and Jol leaving Ajax (villa's manager possible next) some at Rovers may think they may as well make changes themselves.

An excellent point. +10 for you. :tu:

If there were people blindly defending Sam to the hilt it would be understandable but there hasn't been.

Hughesy? ;)

Seriously though, there are as many ready to absolve the manager of any failings as there are those ready to point them out.

If anything there's a distinct lack of people 'down the middle' though, which just shows how much Allardyce polarises opinion.

Does singing and jumping about make you more dedicated?

My dear old Grandad sits in the Jack Walker Upper tier and there is no more dedicated Blue than that fella.

Perhaps not mate- I think theno was chatting about people singing more in the DE than the BBE.

I don't know why the BBE is being referred to as a separate entity though.....

I was at the Manure game and trust me, anyone who was there (and any fan of BRFC for that matter) will have been seriously hurting after that game!

You get behind your team regardless!

I wouldn't bet on that. Imo most will have the memory retention equal to an average goldfish.

Maybe not but I'll tell for certain what makes you less dedicated..... booing at 3-0 after 88 minutes! And don't worry there were plenty doing similar in the JW Upper too(only the outer cheap seats of course ;) ) .

Miles more noise from the Darwen End these days. Well done to them for moving across and getting it together. :tu: The Blackburn End is quiet as a library and appears to be full of wannabee Riversiders.

btw Similar at the Reebok. The Bolton home end is like a graveyard whilst the noisy ones are in the corner close to the away fans.

Sometimes its better to forget than harp on about the same old topic for years and years ;)

I struggle to see why the Sam equation is so difficult to master?

Effectiveness (pts) = 1 / Entertainment

I don't think its about Sam its about which variable is most important to you? Effectivness (staying in the league) or entertainment (playing attractive football)?

Personally I prefer to be entertained but I'm pragmatic enough to understand that Relegation could put the club into meltdown in the current climate.

Middle of the road enough?

Resurgent Blackburn Rovers forward Jason Roberts says he does not mind his side’s robust style of play under Sam Allardyce as long as it is conducive to winning football matches.

He said: “We were saying in the dressing room we love winning.

“Everyone loves to win games and maybe we don’t do it in the prettiest way but there is nothing better than winning.

Singing certainly does. I can't understand why anyone would want to go to a game and sit in silence.

I am sure they cheer and talk, and shout.

My old man never sings at rovers game and he was a semi-professional singer.

It is called personel choice. Many in the Jack Walker stand don't sing - but it does not mean they are not passionate about the club etc.

Some supporters chose to just moan and groan, vent their anger at a players mistake, at the referee, chanting 442 my lord - therefore chanting against Sam - as he chose the formation and tactics. They chose to do this - though I often wish they'd keep quiet.

I have often witnessed people - often an individual - swearing and cursing during a game, parents with young children complain to the abuser, then get turned on themselves.

I am all for singing and creating a good atmosphere. But I respect those who chose not to sing, I respect those who want to protect their children from foul abuse.

We want to encourage people to come to matches - families not just individuals. Creating a good atmosphere is good for the whole football attendence experience. If they want to sing, great, if not it is also great - a persons choice.

My granddaughter has learning disabilities. She would never utter a sound or even move during a match but she never missed a match and loved the experience. She is nineteen now and isn't able to come at the moment but she still watches Rovers on tv when she can.

Fabio Capello believes Harry Redknapp and Sam Allardyce are the frontrunners to succeed him as England boss.

He said: "In this moment Allardyce and Redknapp are doing very well because they have different players, they have good style and get results with them.

"It is important for a coach to understand which type of players they manage and find the best style."

I suffered the Jack Walker stand for eight years. All they do is moan about the team, it's depressing.

Yes it's personal choice, but it's no surprise that the Rovers players come to clap the little pocket of Darwen End supporters after each game. They certainly appreciate the positive atmosphere we try to create.
