Gav Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 But you are a long standing and passionate Blue, are you not more than a 'little concerned' about the antics of the last week, a week that has trashed the good name of Blackburn Rovers and ruined 20 years of stability? I am concerned yes, seems to have been done without much thought on the face of things, but these people have been in business for many years, lets hope they know what they’re doing.

broadsword Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I don't care how long they've been in business. It does not qualify them to be competent owners of a football club.
Exiled in Toronto Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I don't care how long they've been in business. It does not qualify them to be competent owners of a football club. Serious question: who is qualified to be a competent owner of a football club; has 40 million to spend, and would wish to do so? The closer people are to football, the less willing they seem to be to put their own money in, which should tell us something. Hang on, I've just had a thought: the players collectively earn 40 million a year, so they could organise a workers cooperative and buy it themselves. As if.
broadsword Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 True. Perhaps I should've phrased it as: "Being in the chicken wholesale business for decades makes them no more qualified to run the club than any other prospective owner." I think they've tried to immediately impose their own business practices on Rovers as if we were just business another acquisition.

If I was businessman with so much to invest and I wanted a football club, I would most certainly get someone who did and get their advice, to do otherwise would be foolish, especially as they havent got a clue about football anyway!
Montfort Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I don't care how long they've been in business. It does not qualify them to be competent owners of a football club. You are right. Their business record is commendable. Their football management record to date is pants. Actually " pants " comes nowhere near describing the situation.
T4E Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 It won't be Allardyce. I am as certain as I can be that he will not be appointed and I have switched from being pro to being against him in the past couple of weeks. Stop Press: Time 2-15 pm.... SSN reporting Sam Allardyce appointed as Rovers manager. No further info available at present. Just thought I'd quote these two posts, just for the fun of it
philipl Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Phil in 'opinion' as 'fact' shocker!! Ricky please stop being so silly.
den Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Sam suggest foul play As I suggested this morning, I don't believe that Sam has been sacked because of his record in the transfer market, or his style of football. His sacking was part of the plan and Sam was never a part of that plan.
Gav Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Sam suggest foul play Sam should go back and look at the performances agaisnt: Stoke Sunderland Liverpool Spurs Man Utd Wolves Bolton Then maybe he'll realise why he was sacked, god forbid it could ever have been something he'd done, arrogant ****
broadsword Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Sam suggest foul play Fowl play, surely?
Mattyblue Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Some bad results there GAV I'll grant you, enough for the sack? Of course not! So why should he take blame?
Bobby G Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I dont think its something unfair from him to suggest.

He's done plenty right, as indicated by a 10th place finish last season, breaking into the top 8 at least once this season, and verging on doing so throughout the season so far.
Gav Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Some bad results there GAV I'll grant you, enough for the sack? Of course not! So why should he take blame? Maybe not enough to get the sack Matty, but the guy never takes responsibility for his actions, his formations, his team selections, and now his sacking. Time to look at yourself Allardyce, you arrogant so and so
Amo Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Although I was growing tired of Sam by the end, and didn't want him as our manager in the long-term, I can understand his perplexity at recent events. I'm sure if he'd been replaced by a high-profile manager or an exciting, younger alternative, he'd have few complaints. But for Sam to be booted, along with his assistant manager, yet one of his coaches promoted to rookie manager... well, he's bound to be scratching his head over that one.

Just on Allardyce, did he ever say he set the team up wrong? Picked the wrong players? Bought the wrong player? Played the wrong formation? Admit his failings in any way? Not sure he did. You could argue numerous managers don’t admit mistakes, or do they?
Kelbo Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 The point Sam makes here is a valid one, Neil McDonald had managed before, did a decent job whilst Sam was in Hospital and recovering, so as I said yesterday, why was Neil McDonald not given a chance before Kean? This is quite unusual at any football club, unless the manager moves on and takes his assistant with him! I will allow others to form their own judgements, I have already formed mine.

They need a certain type of manager Kelbo. BTW, what happened to the list of potential managers that was going to be drawn up within ten days? Not another PR gaff?
benhben Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Just watching Sam Allardyce interview on Sky Sports. Hes obviously still very upset and hurt by whats happened. Quite emotional actually. Never liked the man or his tactics, but I do feel sorry for how we treated him.
