roverich Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I'm delighted he's moved so quickly to begin changing the backroom staff - Archie Knox had been holding us back as much as Ince himself ever did. I'm also pleased he's going for the people he worked with at Bolton because it certainly seemed like a good back room team back then at Bolton. To make bigger changes I suspect he will be forced to sell RSC because despite us still having some of the Bentley funds left, I don't see the trust being very keen to loosen the purse things for anyone without first having guarantees.
tony gale's mic Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 Allardyce is basically everything Ince is not. I'm struggling to think of a trait they have in common.
LeChuck Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Allardyce is basically everything Ince is not. I'm struggling to think of a trait they have in common. 5 minutes since that post and no-one has mentioned black and white. Standards are slipping.
sandstorm Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Nicko, Allardyce explained today why he pulled himself out of the running in the summer. Do you believe thats the true story of what happened, or is it just a cover story?
thenodrog Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 For all those that have a go at JW - the press conference showed what a confident smooth operator he is. Must be one of the best handled press conferences I have seen for a while. You know what they say DMTP?........ Practice makes perfect.
thenodrog Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Nicko, Allardyce explained today why he pulled himself out of the running in the summer. Do you believe thats the true story of what happened, or is it just a cover story? Discovering that he was 3rd choice behind such footballing luminaries as Maclaren and Ince and even Stan Ternant would have been insulted enough to pull out, never mind someone who should have been England manager but lost out to the Wally with the Brolly again. Enough to make him bloody suicidal. No wonder that he has a spring in his step today is it?
tony gale's mic Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 never mind someone who should have been England manager Let's not go overboard here. He's a perfect fit for us but would have been a disaster for England...although better than McLaren obviously. The whole problem with that search was the obsession to find someone English. Thank god we didn't listen to the bleatings of people like Ince this time round and went with Fab.
A cup of beans Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 the 'big man' COMPLETELY won me over.... within 30 seconds. by far the most impressive rovers press conference, i have ever seen! he inspires me, and ive been anti the man for years - and i can now see why almost every player thats ever played for him has given every last ounce of effort for him. i am genuinely excited, for the 1st time in ages (probably since the chelsea cup semi). i will even refrain from calling him 'fat sam' now. my apologies, sir!
Majiball Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I'm struggling to think of a trait they have in common. Both have a little fat belly!
ABBEY Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 wonder how many of inces signings he will try to offload.?
JAL Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 wonder how many of inces signings he will try to offload.? Al Habsi for Robinson wouldnt suprise me though not as a swap but more displacement.
cravenblue Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 One of SAMs first jobs is to rectify something I blame once for........the Blackburn end toilets! Come on Sam sort it out
ABBEY Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 i think robbo is one he will keep, once he can get some more defensive performers in front of him the he wont be permantly battered.
thenodrog Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Let's not go overboard here. He's a perfect fit for us but would have been a disaster for England...although better than McLaren obviously. It WAS down to the two of them tgm. It SHOULD have been him. Whether he'd have cut the mustard at that level is open for speculation. Personally I think he could have suprised a few of his detracters...... but we all knew it was completely beyond WWB from the start.
Fife Rover Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Yipppeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I'm coming down! I'm going to be there........ Oh deary me I'm over the moon... people are so good! Transport and accomodation all arranged coming down tomorow....... Oh the sheer joy of it! UP THE ROVERS.
Amo Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Anyone else really excited by this appointment? I know I'm still feeling buzzed. I can't wait to see teams dreading the trip to Ewood, and if we get the 'bully boy' tag it'll mean Sam is doing a great job. I'm just hoping he can impose himself quickly on the players and get us out of danger.
92er Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Yipppeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I'm coming down! I'm going to be there........ Oh deary me I'm over the moon... people are so good! Pugg Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Anyone else really excited by this appointment? I have gone from thinking Sam is the best man for the job, but not feeling too excited, to feeling really excited. I think it was the press conference. Bizarre. I think they may have hypnotised me.
