baxendenblue Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I am really impressed with the conference. Well done John Williams in going back for Sam. I was one who wanted Ince in front of Sam in the summer but I was wrong. Welcome aboard Sam - all the very best I am really impressed with the conference. Backroom trueblue Posted December 18, 2008 Backroom Posted December 18, 2008 Great news Fife! and welcome back to Ewood I hope Sam serves us up with a win for you to take back with you mate
daveoftherovers Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Only just seen the conference on Sky Sports News, EXCELLENT. I'm buzzing now, I really think he is everything that Ince wasn't, lot's of optimism, upbeat, talk of upsetting odds, star players not having to leave etc etc. Professionally executed. WHAT A REFRESHING CHANGE !!!! I'm really hope we are all (players & Fans) really really up for it, I'm going to drink & sing lots. Come on the BBE, Let's make some noise!!! p.s. Sorry I didn't want you in the 1st place Big Cuddly Fella, although, I do promise buy you a pint next time I see you in the pub (Instead of telling you to give Matt Jansen back, like last time we met !!! :-) p.p.s Had a quick glance on the *anky boards, THEY ARE GUTTED! Brilliant!
Majiball Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Good man! Don't know about you but I feel 10 years younger at the minute. Come on Gordon we all know you can't have a negative age. Sorry couldn't resist.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Good man! Don't know about you but I feel 10 years younger at the minute. About 3 then?
greggyk Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Thinking of making the trip from London at the moment......it's only gunna come to £78 all together for saturdays game! But I reckon it could be on!..thanks to Fat Sam!
tony gale's mic Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 1. Rovers WON'T sack Ince until March/April if at all. We've stood by our managers until the end. JW hasn't ever sacked a manager has he? BFS is NOT coming and doesn't want to. I suspect you all know this. 6. BFS isn't coming - promise!
jodrell Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I don't know if anyone has posted this on BBC but it is spot on http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/20...ack.html#051631
47er Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 it'll be interesting to see the reaction of the player on saturday. The next 6/7 games will define our season, win on saturday and its game on! cant wait to see his team selection! Will you be going?!!
McClarky Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Just watched the press conference from this afternoon. He comes over really well as does Williams and it does give some confidence for the future. I was watching in a very drunk state though so maybe that might be something to do with it. Sure we'll hump Stoke on Saturday and go on from there. COME ON ROVERS!
Exiled in Toronto Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I've also just watched it and he is definitely smarter than he looks. I actually don't believe for a second he thinks there isn't a fitness problem, but by denying that and highlighting the confidence aspect, I think he is removing the excuse from the players of Ince's Dad's Army and putting the onus entirely on them to be accountable for giving their best performances; something only Emerton can really hold his head up on. He also alludes to players playing for themselves and drops a big hint that no-one is safe come January if they don't deliver, all while sounding supportive of the current squad. Unlike Ince, I think he is a lot smarter than the players and there will be no messing him about. Roll on Saturday
tony gale's mic Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 It's good to see we're all so positive and there's people heading down to Ewood who wouldn't have done otherwise. One of the arguments people used against him was that he'd bring Ewood crowds down, something I found impossible to fathom as a valid argument while we were falling apart under Ince. There's going to be a real buzz about Ewood on Saturday.
gumboots Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Yipppeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I'm coming down! I'm going to be there........ Oh deary me I'm over the moon... people are so good! Transport and accomodation all arranged coming down tomorow....... Oh the sheer joy of it! UP THE ROVERS. I'm absolutely delighted to hear that you are now well enough to travel to Ewood and will be coming down to Saturday's match. I hope it's a good trip for you and that you get to see the result we all want - 3 points for Rovers. I haven't watched the press conference myself because of my well-known aversion to the new manager. However, I found myself preaching at a carol service last night about everyone being invited to the celebrations the first Christmas even the evil King Herod and I found myself thinking that this was supposed to be the season of goodwill and I was not in the spirit at all. Nothing will ever persuade me that I ought to want Mr Allardyce to manage our club, but the chance of a serious rift with my daughter over Christmas finds me heading Ewood ward (if such a word exists) this Saturday. I'm not sure my love of the club is greater than my dislike of the man, but I know the way I feel about my kids is enough to make me want to give them the Christmas they want which means me at Rovers this weekend. PS Daughter is going to be on Setanta Football matters on Monday night if all goes to plan.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Just a bump for those who haven't see the conference yet, its on the SSN website: http://www.skysports.com/video/clips/0,237...2&ssvPage=1
Paul Mellelieu Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Yipppeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I'm coming down! I'm going to be there........ Oh deary me I'm over the moon... people are so good! Transport and accomodation all arranged coming down tomorow....... Oh the sheer joy of it! UP THE ROVERS. Smashing! A win is a certainty.

I know how you feel, but if we win and he keeps us up maybe all will be forgiven. Fingers crosseds and all that. It should be a good atmosphere.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Great to see Fife in better health and coming down. Philip will be flying in from Malta next! Not heard the press conference yet, have V plussed it but heard the first 5 minutes on Radio Lancs and it was tremendously impressive. Then they cut to go to the news! Can you imagine any other local radio station doing the same! Unbelievable! Apologies if this has been posted on another thread but Sam was phoned by Talksport at about 6.45 p.m. tonight and was asked about Roque. Sam said "Yeah. He's going." "Nowhere" The presenters Adrian Durham and Ian Wright made a joke of it and commented that RSC and Mark Hughes had probably crashed their cars at that point!

Let the good times roll...
thenodrog Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Will you be going?!! Why not? It's only Rawtenstall.
gilstarwood Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 i must say what a positive press conferance well done the board 4 appointing sam al ,lets stoke the atmos right up on sat v stoke , come on blackbun end turn the volume up cause the fraiser eagle stand will b giving it some cant wait gt harwood blues
Mc Love Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Was well impressed by what he has said and the reports that he felt it was his first day back at school, bouncing around the place! Thought Maccy D's would do that to him
thenodrog Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 What an uplifting mood has descended on the board in the past 24 hours. Surprisingly from many of the pro PI brigade too. This is the euphoria and positivity that has been missing since June 21. I think the support for the last manager was fomented from blind hope rather than base logic. Lets all hope that the players respond accordingly and pray that we are not too late. All these comments in the media that 17 games was not enough might be viewed as 17 games being far too many come May. Enjoy the experience but rem that we are still very much in a fingers crossed situation.
Fife Rover Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 TO ALL THE VERY KIND PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPRESSED THEIR GOOD WISHES AND PLEASURE AT MY FORTHCOMING 'EWOOD RETURN' Just a quick word to say thanks to all of you for your very kind words. It does my old heart good to know that so many people can be so caring and kind enough to spare a thought for a fellow Roverite. All we need now is for the team to pick up on the feeling of euphoria that seems to have once again united all of us on this MB. If they do then they will surely win on Saturday, and that will hopefully be just the first of many good results to come. I feel absolutely sure that Sam is the right man for the task ahead and that he will turn it round and get the Rovers back to at least a respectable mid-table position this season. I would also like to say to Gumboots and any others that have expresssed severe misgivings in the past.........please, put all that behind you and for the sake of the club we all love so much go down and get behind the team and the manager and help them by your continued and wholehearted support to make Blackburn Rovers a respected name in the land as they once were and can be again. This is the start of a new chapter in Rovers history! COME ON THE ROVERS!!!!
