broadsword Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 It's either "mates" or "Johnny" foreigner. At least we're not subsidising Fowler's condominiums any more. That guy was a dinosaur in football terms. and if he had been a real dinosaur, I'd say he'd have been a prophatactyl.

CrazyIvan Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 All these players we are linked with, some are distinctly underwhelming btw, reminded me of the days when Sam was in charge of Bolton and he signed some apparent has-been or some player with history and turned said player into a decent, and sometimes spectacular, success. I'm thinking that whatever happens in this transfer window, whoever we sign, Sam has the experience to make it work. I'm not saying all his signings were successful but it makes you think...

He has also had a year off duty and has been able to scout new players.
thenodrog Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 He has also had a year off duty and has been able to scout new players. The main concerning fact long term is that at Notlob SA used to get players performing who were nearing the end of their careerwhereas Hughes emulated the Golden Goose and found them at the other end of their 20's. It's why we have been able to make relatively huge sums from the sales of Hughes's endeavours and why we can demand a huge lump of money for RSC. I'm not sure how we'll be placed in that respect in half a dozen years or so.

I'm not sure how we'll be placed in that respect in half a dozen years or so. For the moment I'll settle for survival in this league. If in a year or so's time we have an even more aging squad and have no younger players in our ranks then it will be a real worry.
accyrover Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Sams poker face on Sky Sports today was classic. Talk about short sharp answers to stupid journo questionning about RSC and Man Shi*ty. I like Sam more and more. Proper footballing man who knows just how ridiculous the Premiership merrygoround has become. Accyrover
trs Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Darth Vader returns to build his empire ...... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-1...urn-Rovers.html
LeChuck Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 You have to wonder how far up the table we'd be if Allardyce had been appointed in the summer, especially with Wigan in 7th and Hull in 8th. 3 clean sheets out 4, 8 points out of 12...it's amazing considering how pitiful we were prior to his arrival. I wonder how the 2,000 Facebook morons are feeling now?
Veevs Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Well as someone totally against the fat Sam appointment (but not on the facebook crew).. I have to say I made a mistake there, thought he was awful at Newcastle, then he kicks their arses today... hmm I guess he just did not fit into Newcastle. Well he will bring in some relative unknown players but he has a bit of a knack for finding some interesting players.. now looking forward to it Earlier article on Darth Vader is interesting, nice seeing his former team sitting in some of the bigger teams, shame someone else took advantage..
tony gale's mic Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 3 clean sheets out of 4 for the previous worst defence in the league...but even more surprisingly for a Sam team, 7 goals! Happy days all around at Ewood.
T4E Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Unbeaten in 4, 3 clean sheets, up to 16th. With wins in the other two games that we should have got, we'd be sat in 11th and looking at Europe. Wonderful stuff from Mr Allardyce and co. Being out of the relegation zone will be a huge boost for all concerned.
tony gale's mic Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 I wonder where waggy is these days.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 It is much to our delight becoming clear that Sam is a great motivator and a very competent tactician.Compare results, player attitudes and team morale to that of the Ince tenure.....there simply is NO comparison, these players want to play for the manager. Carry on with the great work Samuel! P.S. Isn't it great to listen to our manager give an articulate and confident press interview.
tony gale's mic Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Sailing down a river in Egypt. Excellent.
PAFELL Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 3 clean sheets out of 4 for the previous worst defence in the league...but even more surprisingly for a Sam team, 7 goals! Happy days all around at Ewood. You need a calculator - I think it is 8 goals scored and 2 conceeded in the prem ( 1 goal in the cup) Stoke 3 0 Sunderland 0 0 man city 2 2 newcastle 3 0
dennis the menace Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 its amazing what SA has done, i was a little unsure about him, well i was generally unsure about our team and the fight for survival. but i have to say, that in a short period of time, im at ease with the situation, there is a long way to go, but im confident with SA in charge. he seems like a MAN-ager, the things he states in the media, his overall handling of allmost everything, has surpassed my expectations so far. i just love the way, he in no uncertain terms, handles the roque situation, telling hughes who´s the boss..
Zulu Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Please allow me (just this once) to say; I told you so! He is a good manager. He will keep you up this season. He will make you a top eight side, given time. Typical football fans - you all love him now. I just wish I had the time and inclination to trawl through some members past posts to highlight how their perspectives have changed. And before you start, all football fans are the same. We may even begin to love the Ginger Mourinho one day. Not yet though.
John Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 BRFC are getting respect again and also feared in some parts...I want Incey back

I maintain we had better options the first time round, although we shouldnt have been that vehemently opposed to him.
philipl Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Interesting profile of Sam Allardyce in the Mail yesterday Sam's way of saying he was misunderstood at Newcastle in the LT ahead of yesterday's sweet reckoning. One thing is for sure, Ince's half time team talk would have lost us the game against Newcastle 3-0, not won it 3-0 like Sam's did.

We rode our luck.
thenodrog Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 One thing is for sure, Ince's half time team talk would have lost us the game against Newcastle 3-0, not won it 3-0 like Sam's did. The move to replace Samba with Oijer, Oijer with Emerton and Emerton with Dunn, plus replacing Tugay with Grella won that match. The effect of the HT talk whatever it was is speculatory. It is of paramount importance to keep those two fit. Given our current squad just why we are being linked with anyone other than a right winger as first priority I cannot imagine.
67splitscreen Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I'm now a fully born again BS supporter. Even to the point of two packets of gum for every game. The living room floor bares testament to it , RoversMum is not going to be happy.

It was a no brainer weeks ago as it was last summer. Post not directed at you tgm, just using your qoute to make a general point
