EwoodGlory Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 In case it hasn't been mentioned, if Spartans win the replay the tie will be played at Croft Park and not moved to St James. The club also confirms that providing we get through to the next round, the match against Blackburn Rovers will be played at Croft Park on either Sunday 4th Jan or Monday 5th Jan it will be all ticket and televised.
EwoodGlory Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I'll be at the replay tonight, it's live on Setanta at 19:45 for those interested. Been reading a few articles on the game and spotted this. Shearer is rooting for Blyth and Fenton, and he joked today: “Looking back at that night at Ewood Park, I deliberately missed a few chances against Newcastle and what happens but Graham comes off the bench and before I knew it he popped in a couple of goals. “I gave him some right stick in the dressing room afterwards.” Shearer Backs Blyth for Cup Shock
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Currently 0-0 All Blyth so far!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Still 0-0 with a few minutes left to play in normal time. Bournemouth down to 10 men. Giant killing on the cards!
tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Still 0-0 with a few minutes left to play in normal time. Bournemouth down to 10 men. Giant killing on the cards! Come on Blyth! Would be a great occasion if we played them.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I spoke to soon! Blyth just scored with 1 minute to go! Blyth v Blackburn Rovers it is! What a cracking cross that was!
vintageadidas Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 This could be a very big banana skin. We havnt played non-league opposition for ages.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I dont see what we've got to be worried about. It's a non-professional club against a team in the top division. Our record against non-professional clubs is superb. Just ask Trelleborg.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 This could be a very big banana skin. We havnt played non-league opposition for ages. Yeah it could be tricky. Great tie for Blyth though, opportunity to play against a team from the best league in the world and will get some much needed revenue with it being a TV game.
tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Delighted that Blyth have got through, great for them and also it'll give us a bit of attention that won't be negative at least...unless we lose. Which we won't.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Capacity is 4,400. We might even be able to sell out our end
tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Yeah it could be tricky. Great tie for Blyth though, opportunity to play against a team from the best league in the world and will get some much needed revenue with it being a TV game. I read that as the best team in the world for one second
vintageadidas Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 It's weird seeing people so happy to be playing us!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Probably cos they think they can beat us
tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Yeah to be honest it really hit home during that FA Cup draw and Blyth's reaction to it how lucky we are to be in our current position. For Blyth this is their big game, players like Pedersen, Nelsen, McCarthy who we justifiably complain about week in week out suddenly become superstars for them. It serves as a reminder that although we're a pretty small club in the context of the biggest league in the world, in the context of football in general we're massive.
vintageadidas Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Very true. Wish it hadnt been changed from the Saturday. Cannot make the Monday game. We would have taken our allocation on the Saturday. Monday we may just struggle.
OJRovers Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I think that someone from Blyth said that they would have to move it to another (bigger) ground if they got through and were playing us. Could have been tricky under Ince, but I'm hoping now that the lads will turn a corner and easily get through the tie
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 It's great hearing the players and manager talk about how much the FA Cup means to them. Each year the FA Cup delivers. It truly a magical cup competition where dreams come true for people like me and you.
Gav Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I fancy this one, missed Welling all those years ago so don't want to miss this. Mini bus anyone.
Mike Graham Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 ha ha......................a meeting in Newcastle beckons on either the Monday of the game or on the Tuesday morning. We might just get a result at this one!
trs Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I fancy this one, missed Welling all those years ago so don't want to miss this. Mini bus anyone. It might finish up like Welling up yon if you know what I mean
