Billy Castell Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Re Rover6: You forgot to mention Steve Harkness, Dominic Matteo, Derek Fazakerley (as player-coach), Chris Sutton, Nicky Marker, Super Atko, Henning Berg and Matt Jansen.

John Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Tony Parkes, who spent 34 years at Blackburn, believes the players must take much of the blame for Rovers' slump this season to second from bottom of the Barclays Premier League.
philipl Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Sad to read that Tony Parkes has left Blackpool. I thought he was doing a very good job there and would have got the Manager's job permanently.
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Sad to read that Tony Parkes has left Blackpool. I thought he was doing a very good job there and would have got the Manager's job permanently. Thought he would have got the job after stepping in at a difficult time and keeping them up.
Dunnfc Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 My Blackpool supporting mate is furious, Parkes is a legend down there for what he's done with them. My mate said he left because Oyston the stingy barsteward would cough up any more money and that the 300k bid for Adam wasn't going to be improved upon so Parkes felt next year would have been the same instead of progressing up the league.
Blueandwhitemike Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 From the outside it looked like he did a great job after a wobble at the beginning, not easy keeping Blackpool in that league above quite a lot of big names. Poor Tony Parkes seems as though he's been tarnished with the 'always the bridesmaid' brush.

nicko Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Gary Brabin. Old boy. Cheap. Cheerful? Shocking treatment for Tony Parkes.
Ninjathunder Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 What else would you expect from the Oystons? What a shame for Tony.
yoda Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Says that Parkes quit for Family reasons?!? Probably tony's missus said, tell that Oyston plank to stick his job where the sun don't shine

thenodrog Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Just in case anyone is interested... Blackpool Manager Odds There's a lot of managers out of work isn't there?
gbax Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Says that Parkes quit for Family reasons?!? Tony's wife is VERY ill!
T4E Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Yes - and they're all very very poor. Thank God we snared Sam.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Just in case anyone is interested... Blackpool Manager Odds Paul Ince... 7/1
Fylde Coast Fan Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Steve Thomson drinks in my brother's local and is not shy about speaking his mind. Parkes and Thomson had a deal in places, wages agreed etc - as has been said, backing in the transfer market and wage budget was the issue. TP rightly said that to stay up, Blackpool would need to pull out all the stops to keep Charlie Adam and DJ Campbell. A bid for Adam was reported at £300k but according to Thommo on Saturday night it was more like £150k + some more money if he scores 100 goals - total joke, but that's the Oystons for you. Parkes walked away as he was basically set up to be a scapegoat next season. Good on him for leaving rather than put up with that.
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Sounds like the owners thought they could get him to sign on the cheap. Its clear from what i've read that Tony wanted the job so it must of been a really rubbish deal.
Mc Love Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 He should get an ambassador role at Rovers at least!?
