Harry Redknapp has a hopeful take on things from our point of view Spurs miles from a top four finish in The Guardian.

"As for this season, I think there will be 14 teams stuck in a possible relegation battle. Anybody could slip into it. You wonder where we'd be now if we hadn't had such a fantastic run. It doesn't bear thinking about. Everybody's scrapping for their lives and looking over their shoulders. I couldn't stand here and honestly say we're looking to get into Europe."

I'd say he's over-egging things a bit by suggesting 6th place and down as potential releagtion candidates but I'd suggest 11th downwards is looking uncomfortable. Even given our position all is far from lost. Win the next three matches and we could be around 14 / 15th. Given the importance of Saturday I'm amazed Williams allowed the players to go to Dublin. Football managers complain of players being tired through travel etc. Rovers have allowed their entire first team squad (RSC and Tugay excepted) out on the p!ss a few days prior to a crucial match. A very questionable decision in my view.

If Ince is to be sacked this week, I suspect he'll blame everybody but himself. The players will come in for a fair amount of justified criticism but maybe getting them out of the way is Willaims' way of protecting the little darlings. Intresting that Tugay has not gone as he'll probably be needed for a press conference.

Philip if this is a response to my post I'm not looking for any evidence Ince's job is safe. I'm commenting that the artices referred to by other posters don't actually say anything new, is specualtion or could not be found on here.

I have to add my two-penneth here, although this thread may not neccessarilly be the right place for a rant - but here goes.

Let me start off by saying that I'm dissapointed with Ince. I expected more. he has shown himself to be woefully out of his depth with no tactical ability and a penchant for playing strikers on the wing and left backs in midfield. Paul Ince has not yet received his coaching badges and they are there for a reason. I think that has been made abundantly clear.

Ince has already started blaming everyone but himself. He blames the players and the board for not investing. This is essentially the same squad that finished 7th last year. there is clearly a BIG problem with coaching - has Mr Winterburn actually ventured north of Birmingham since his appointment as defensive coach, or does he discuss tactics by videophone and text message ????

The fact is that Paul Ince does not have a clue. Who's fault is that ? The board took a huge gamble on a guy who finished playing a couple of years ago and managed two lower league teams for less than 2 years. The step up to the Premiership was clearly a step too far. His signings show that. Andrews and Fowler. What a joke.

What really annoys me is the press and pundits. Waxing lyrical about how wonderful it is that a young, black, British manager has been given a top in the top flight will not save Rovers from being relegated. These ex-players, palls of Ince and over-opionated journos have no affiliation or love for Blackburn Rovers and will not loose a wink of sleep if we go down. Comparing him to Alex Ferguson is ludicrous - yes RFW was close to the chop at United shortly into his reign there, but the big difference is that he had managed at the top flight in Scotland and won the European Cup with Aberdeen. Ince has won nothing and doesn't even have his coaching badges ffs. Comparing the two is simply ridiculous.

The players need to take some blame but their confidence is obviously shot. Buggering off to Ireland for two days the morning after your 6th straight defeat away at Wigan, and an abjectly atrocious performance to boot, does not give out the right signals to the fans. Obviously some of them, senior players and club captain included, would rather fill their necks with Guinness that take to the training pitch and try to sort the mess out where it matters. Nursing a hangover this morning will not improve our chances of getting 3 points against Stoke. Half of the 1st team squad would be offered contracts at other Prem League clubs if we were to go down, so why should they care ? Football is rotton to the core, and its us - the fans - that suffer, not these poor overpaid, over-protected little darlings who complain of being tired every time they have to kick a bag off air around a football pitch once or twice a week.

Ince has to go before its too late. The Grand Experiment has failed Mr Williams. Who we replace him with is your choice, so please do not take some huge gamble this time. The future of the club we all love hangs on your decisions.

Accyrover.

LMA urge Rovers to keep faith with Ince

Seriously, is Ince calling in every favour he can off of everyone in football that he knows, to save his job.

If this were Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Villa...oh wait a second, anyone but Rovers, they would of been screaming from the rooftops (and SSN) for a manager with 3 points from 33 points to be sacked.

Chief Execs or their equivalents (such as football managers) get fired when there is loss of confidence in them. Ultimately, the contagion of loss of confidence spreads back to the board that doesn't do the firing if the Manager survives and the shareholders are sufficiently worried.

The press round-up from the BBC:

Under-fire Blackburn manager Paul Ince will discover his fate when he meets Rovers chairman John Williams at the club's training ground on Tuesday. (The Sun)

Williams spent most of Monday in talks with his fellow directors and could dispense of Ince on Tuesday morning. (The Times)

The Blackburn board thrashed out a compensation package for Ince at a crisis meeting in Manchester on Monday. (Daily Mail)

Ince met Williams on Monday and was told he will be sacked unless Blackburn beat Stoke on Saturday. (Daily Express)

One of the reasons Ince is still in charge is that the Blackburn board are split over who should replace him. (Daily Express)

There are a lack of an immediately available, and suitable, replacements - and the Sunderland vacancy is seen as more attractive by some of the leading candidates for the Blackburn post. (Daily Express)

Ex-Bolton and Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce has made it clear he sees the Black Cats as a more appealing option than Blackburn. (Daily Telegraph)

That leaves former Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini and ex-Blackburn manager Graeme Souness as the two leading contenders to take charge at Ewood Park. (Daily Telegraph)

The Blackburn board are unsure whether to make Ince's successor a short-term or long-term appointment. (Daily Mail)

Rovers' preferred choice is to appoint Souness as manager, with veteran Blackburn midfielder Tugay working under him as coach. (Daily Mail)

Blackburn's plan to replace Ince with Souness could fall through as Souness is set to jet to the United States on a skiing holiday later this week. (Daily Mirror)

The Blackburn board are unenthusiastic about the prospect of ex-Charlton and West Ham manager Alan Curbishley being appointed as the new boss. (Daily Telegraph)

I really can not see how we can get out of this mess we are in with Paul Ince and his backroom team in control of the club.

Really, really hope that he is given his marching orders today. Even Tugay as caretaker on his own for this weekends game would be an improvement.

Sack Ince now, just so disheartended at the moment with Ince in charge.

Come on thats a joke, i cant even have any faith in any of these shambles of news reports when they have goofy pictures of Ince accompanying them.

He has had only five months LMA chief says, hasnt brought in his own players he said! I dont anymore of his mates joining us, the club wont even sack him because they have no confidence in his backroom staff

One small point: this is not essentially the same team that finished seventh last season. Friedel has been replaced by an inferior 'keeper and our best outfield player, also left without replacement.

Good point, but Friedal was replaced with an International goalkeeper and lets face it, Bentley obviously couldn't be arsed for the best part of the of the season (once he'd decided he was too good for the club). So although I take your point, there's more to the teams failings than that. And seriously, do you think Friedal would have kept more goals out than Robinson given how sh*t our defence has been ?

Radio this morning. Williams says we should get behind Ince- says he has'nt had time to bring his own players in yet.

Looks like he's going to get to after the transfer window and be allowed to spend and will here for a while yet folks.

This has to be the gamble of the century.

Crikey! What happens if we win? We aren't going to get rid after a string of losses so there's no chance if we manage to scrape some sort of result out of Stoke on Sat. I guess the players will have to puy renewed vigour into their not inconsiderable efforts to date to get him out.

As for John Williams will somebody let him know that lightning does not strike twice and that Joe Kinnear has been given until the end of the season at Newcastle.

Freedom of the town and arise Sir Paul.

Board must be completely devoid of ideas now as Souness was approached - maybe he gave them a no. If Ince gets a win or two in the next five games sacking him will be almost impossible with the support he's generated after this run.

I had a boss like this - whatever he did he carried on - and some were odd. Locked an office girl in a room once when she wouldn't work extra hours to keep her in the building-and still carried on. Known as the Teflon Man. Doubt if we'd be allowed to use that with Ince but he's getting more fireproof by the day.
