Right now I'm just pleased Ince has been sacked. We are in danger of becoming detached from the rest of the clubs in the bottom half, and right now we need someone with some experience, even if its a short term appointment like Newcastle did - I honestly can't think anyone could do as badly as Ince has done. I backed him initially but its been increasingly obvious that it wasn't working and I honestly believe time wasn't going to change that.

Christmas has come early!!! I have no personal issue with Ince but the fact is we've lost the last six, not won in eleven league games and that is all he should be judged upon. Never in his reign was I confident of success and although it's not nice to see someone being sacked, it was absolutely the correct decision in the best interests of the club. Would like to have seen him resign for his own reputation but so be it...

I'm very relieved. It does make me wonder though how entirely pointless the whole exercise was. 9 fans out of 10 could have predicted the state we now find ourselves in as a result of the lack of ambition currently rife within the club; Ince's appointment being the pinnacle of that.

Or Houllier, or Curbs, or Keegan, or Jones, or, or, or...

Point being it could be anyone couldn't it!

Remember in the not too distant past when we was managerless, no-one would have predicted Ince being the Rovers manager would they, well I am taking that line of thought now, no-one will know who is going to be the manager until the announcement is made.

Let's just hope that whoever it is it will be the right person for the job and we will get ourselves out off the sh1t we are in at the mo.

Quite true, bookies and such like are second guessing.

The meeting in Manchester yesterday, is more than likely where we will find the answer.

Shame Nicko didn't give the hotel, could have bunged (no pun intended) the doorman. :D

I feel a tad sorry for him, but at the end of the day its best for us

On a personal level I've felt sorry for every manager we've ever sacked. After all, it's public humiliation and that's not nice.

The 3 or 4 mill compo will help him though.

They just read out part of my e mail on SSN (under anonymous  ) citing playing players out of position and his terrible media interviews, including the "you've gotta laugh" quote from the Wigan game :D they failed to mention what I put about lack of funds not being a huge issue, though (I mentioned Hull, Sunderland and Man City as examples of teams with lots of or no money who have either over or underperformed despite this).

Well, the list of people interested in the Sunderland job appears very impressive, I can't imagine that the same group wouldn't be interested in Rovers.

This last 6 months has raised serious questions over how this club is being run:

1) Why we gave one of the most attractive jobs going in the summer to a relatively unproven and certainly unqualified candidate purely because of what he achieved and who he was as a player. In the process we passed up several qualified, experienced and well-connected candidates.

2) Why, if we chose to go the route of handing the job to an unqualified candidate who was unlikely to get any other premiership job for the time being, did we not play hard-ball and have very specific clauses in his contract regarding termination.

If we choose to go the short-term route at this point or to try out another unqualified and inexperienced ex-player simply because he could score goals or run a midfield then we need to take a long hard look at who is actually making the decisions at Blackburn Rovers.

Thank God it has happened sooner rather than when it's too late.

We actually have a chance now! :D

As people are suggesting, recruiting Shearer is taking us out of the frying pan and putting us into an even bigger frying pan coz he's got less experience than Ince.

Souey or Sammy for me plz.

Sad to see Ince go but the right decision has been made.

Replacements? I said it in the summer that Laudrup was the right man, he wanted the job but the board went for Ince. He is now in employment (in Moscow) but may find the lure of the Premiership very tempting if the board were to approach him.

Got to be Curbs for me...be perfect for a club like us.

Would go along with that. One of problems at the Whammers seemed to be their 'billy-big-shoes' attitude. Rovers haven't really got that so he could do well. Ultimately it's probably between Curbs or BFS.

souness can get lost. anyone who wants him back must have forgotted the state he left us in.

bfs is probably smarting from being overlooked in the summer and playing hard to get. probably fishing for a better package. fingers crossed we can give it him and we can learn to defend again, and be hard to play against, just as we had to last time around.
