Ninjathunder
He should just shut up and let his football do the talking or we may just end up being relegated anyhow! He was only answering a journo's question and then it's been fleshed out into an 'article'. It's not a though he's called his own press conference to announce it. rover6
Ince got much success with 4-5-1 with MK Dons, with fast, tricky wingers (Jemal Johnson....) and a specialist holding midfielder. I think he wanted to introduce that formation to Rovers, hence signing Grella - although, he never got around to it. I still don't know why he recruited Archie Knox. The guys wasn't wanted by Gary Megson. Says a lot. Not to mention that he hails from the jurassic era of football management, corporeal punishment and all that. Guest Vinjay606
Nelsen thinks the directors took the decision to sack Ince. I have no doubt whatsoever it was the owners who forced Williams (and the directors) to make that decision.
Blue blood
That's a really helpful comment for Nelsen to come out with. Granted it's true, and anyone without an agenda could see it, but waht's the point in Nelsen coming out and saying that now. Doesn't really do him credit as captain really. An acknolwedgement that the players also might have something to do with it, and that they cannot hide behind saying it's Ince's fault would've been more encouraging. philipl
Given Pauls antics and so on (walking out of his badges to play a round) I'm not convinced he will get a job at championship level. He did not go about things the right way at all and I'll wager even those in power at our club squeamed when knox and co turned up. Christ somedays he didn't even come in. Ince had a golden chance with us, just look at what a difference a top coach alongside an inexperienced manager does - West Ham. The worst thing of all is that he still thinks it was a mass conspiracy and he was at no fault, chances of becoming at decent manager at present - ZERO Egotistical waste of space. With those revelations (to which you can add most days he turned up late including being an hour late for his sacking), all the stuff I refused to put on here has now been posted by other people. That must have made what is probably a difficult job so so much easier. What a shame that Williams got to axe him. They should have raffled or even auctioned the task off for club funds. I'd have paid good money for the pleasure. Come to think about it BRFC's inadequacy in marketing strikes again ........... a viddy of the event would have been a best seller in the club shop at Christmas. RevidgeBlue
RYAN NELSEN reckons Blackburn would have been facing certain relegation if Paul Ince had not been axed. I think it's extremely rich for Nelsen to be coming out with comments like this - he was one of the poorest performers under Ince and suddenly started performing like a different player when Sam came in. When was that big piece in the LT about the players acknowledging responsibility for our plight and saying it was their fault and vowing to dig Ince out of the embarrasing position they had put him in. Was it before the Liverpool or Wigan games? So he as Club captain should acknowledge the players part in it and his own below par performances. Even more to the point, we're not even bloody well safe yet! Sam has achieved nothing. Yet. These sort of comments should have been left until we are mathematically safe. Guest Vinjay606
Based on what, Vinjay? Based on the value of the club being higher and an increased chance of a takeover in the top division. Kevin Gallacher said it was the owners putting pressure on the board as well to sack Ince.
Backroom DE. Posted April 26, 2009 Backroom Share Posted April 26, 2009 Have to admit, from everything I've heard, I don't think JW wanted to sack Ince... which is a little worrying. How anybody could think it was right to keep him on after our abject surrender to Wigan is beyond me.
American
JW wanted to give him more of a chance, a lot of that down to Nelsen and co saying that he should, and that they would hunker down (rich, now that he's not owning up to his ineptness during the first months of the season). He said that when he went into the dressing room after the Wigan match, he knew they needed a change, so he made it.

I'm sure that at the bottom of his heart he knew that he'd dropped a bollock much sooner than that! To his eternal shame he appeared to put his head in the sand until almost the bitter end, no doubt fearful for his position. His recent performance has no doubt been noted. There's always the chance new owners will want to bring their own people in. The whole board really should take responsibility for the Ince appointment. Failing to hire Ten Cate was a massive disappointment to me and it still hurts.
1864roverite
Get over it Vinjay, Rovers have only ever looked up since Ince was evicted from the club. Over many years Rovers have had downers. Ince singlehandedly brought the club to its knees. Since then, the club has steadily rebuilt itself brick by brick and has some real footings in place for us to move on next season. get Ince out of your mind, after all, 95% of the clubs supporters have already forgotten who the clown was
