Ince failed while Zola is proving to be a success .

I suspect badges and licences are less important than a little brain power . How did managers go on before the advent of "qualifications" ?

Zola had clarke do not underestimate his contribution (his pro-licence as well), Sorry they may not be the be all and end all but they mean you are of a certain standard and knowledge. Its a skilled job if you don't have qualification requirements then anybody could take on the role. The rules are very clear if you don't have it you can't have the job, my issue is we are the only country who allows unqualified people to take on the role, IE our FA bends the rules.

Look what our gamble cost us in total, middlesbourgh, newcastle (does shearer have his pro?), they need to stop bending the rules.

I'm not saying Zola will be like Ince and go play golf when he should be learning, but if its a stipulated rule it should not be broken the FA did it to themselves with the first instance. Its in place to protect the clubs from themselves and should be up-held, it ruins more clubs than not.

Ince will not make it as a manager in football or any other business environment until he looks at himself and understands, and more importantly, admits his limitations........end o debate ........if/when he does then he may stand some chance........but probably not........

Like a previous poster hinted, I'd love to draw Franchise FC in one of the cups. Then we'll show that arrogant turd how a proper team is organised, and dry hump that soulless town good and proper. It amazes me that Mr. E still defends Ince, even after he nearly got us relegated, and tries to absolve himself of all responsibility, for the chaos. At least Ray Harford admitted he was not up to following King Kenny or top level management on Sky TV once. Ince was blatantly out of his depth, more so than Mickey Adams or Stan Ternant have ever been, but has the front to big himself up and claim he had no backing. Hughes had the same situation, and we made 2 FA Cup semi-finals, and the UEFA Cup a few times. He also had a terrible squad when he took over. As it turns out, Ince is made to look good in the lower leagues, as players and managers down there tend to be crap, or just not clever enough to exploit his ineptitude.

The best lyric to sum up Mr. Ince comes from The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster song Chicken: Your head's too big but your mind's too small.

I think he needs to engage his brain before speaking

When the Premier League comes calling, you don’t say no. I went there and was picking up the mess Sparky had left.” It was not quite what he meant so he swiftly elaborates, lest he be misunderstood. “When I say that, I mean that Blackburn, as far as Mark Hughes was concerned, had served its purpose. The players he had there, he’d got the best out of them, and it needed revamping. We didn’t have the financial clout to do that. You look at people like Roy Keane and Gareth Southgate; they’ve gone to Sunderland and Middlesbrough respectively, and got about £80m to spend. I go to Blackburn and I can only spend about £7m-£8m. That’s not going to stand you in good stead when you need to build a new team. When you’ve lost [David] Bentley and Brad Friedel, then you lose Rocky [Roque Santa Cruz], Steven Reid and David Dunn after five games when we’re seventh, all these things you’ve got to take into account.

“I don’t blame the chairman for that. He’s a fantastic man and tried his hardest, but I was never released the money that I needed. I had to come back to MK to buy Keith Andrews for around 700 grand. It was a strange season in that 10 teams could have gone down. Where was the panic? We were not bottom of the league.”

Ince’s lament is a familiar one. “If they [Rovers] sit down with you and say, ‘We want you to be our manager’ after speaking with Sam [Allardyce, who would subsequently succeed Ince], Steve McClaren, people like that, you’ve got to back him. You have to show that loyalty.”

He does make one admission about his time at Ewood Park: “I don’t think I was my own man. All of a sudden, because you’re in the Premier League, you think, ‘Wow, I’ve got to try and change, try and be something different’. That was wrong.”

Maybe the timing was wrong for him. Many felt that Blackburn, under Hughes, had attained their optimum position. Unless funds were forthcoming, the only direction was down. “You could be right,” he says. “But you don’t know if you are ever going to get that chance again.” He hesitates, before confiding: “In hindsight I should have stayed at MK. I believe I would have got them out of League One last season. I know they just failed at the final hurdle, but if I’d have been here with my staff we would have got them into the Championship. Who knows what happens then?”

Despite it all, Ince insists: “Though I wasn’t given a chance, I still enjoyed it. I’m a better manager for it. It didn’t scare me. I’ll be up there again one day. I hope I can do that at MK, in time. I don’t feel, when I look at managers in the Premier League, they’re better than I am, apart from the Fergusons and Wengers.

Jesus.

"I was poo-ing my pants". What a moron...

Wasn't given a chance? We gave the plonker every chance.

Good Lord. He talks about Middlesbrough and Sunderland spending a king's ransom, without engaging the fact both of them finished BELOW us this season (Boro relegated!). Therefore completely contradicting his argument. You don't need a pot of gold to survive in the Premier League. Of course you need half-decent players, but you also need a manager who is able to motivate and play to individual strengths. Ince was not that man.

So Paul any predictions for MK dons this year????

In your head you must be the best thing since sliced bread reality is your not even a tesco value loaf.

Try the real world not fantasy land where you got MK dons promoted back to back last year along with a semi final appearnace in the FA cup. :P

I have to say I'm sick of hearing him moan about a situation he was fully aware of.

How much money would I need to bribe the FA into making sure the FA cup third round saw us facing them at Ewood I'd love nothing more than to hear 30,000 of us telling him exactly what we think.

PS how are your licences going?? not well I hear?? If you like, you can have my UEFA B licence pack its complete and passed for a small price (whatever amount is needed to bribe the FA).

I hope I bump into you in town one day I won't mince my words.

The only way you'll be a better manager is if you bump into Doctor Who and hitch a ride.

you even manage to insult one of your own ex-team-mates, children should be seen and not heard I believe.

That article is shocking. "Where was the panic?". Considering your comment after we lost to Wigan was "you've got to laugh" it clearly wasn't with you, Paul.

Proof we were right to sack him, and proof he should NEVER have been given the job in the first place.

You know the longer the Sam revolution goes on, the more I try and put the past behind me. Yes Ince utterly messed it up, and nearly ruined us for good, but why dwell on it? Thank goodness it's over.

And then that berk goes and defames our club some more and all the dislike comes back. It shows what a pathetic individual he is to still criticise rovers and make weak excuses for arguably the biggest mishandling of a premiership team. There are so many holes in his argument it's untrue.

I echo Majiball's sentiments, would love to meet him and tell him what a plonker he is, and give the guy a dose of reality.

"Where was the panic? We were not bottom of the league.”

I can't think of a more deluded man in the game than Ince. It was obvious we were going down with the way he had the team playing, how he still can't see that 7 months on is beyond me.

A timely reminder to all those on here that are consistently complaining about how we may play next season. Last season up until Ince went was excruciating - even to those of us who tried to look on the positive side at the time and were proved so very, very wrong. Don't be surprised at Ince's delusion. The problem with most fools is that they don't actually know they are fools.

"I had to come back to MK to buy Keith Andrews for around 700 grand."

That quote in itself speaks volumes of the man Ince is. It seems he isn't even speaking very highly of Andrews now either, and seemingly attributing to why we struggled to the signing of him.
