tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 someone has just layed big sam for nearly 3 grand on betfair. money from the right sources perhaps? If you're seeing the same thing that I think (£2260 under "lay" on Sam) then that means they've put that money on Sam and you can bet against them if you wish.

47er Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 roy keane now third favourite. This is ludicrous! He's arguably worse than Ince! He's spent 80M at Sunderland on rubbish players and resigned in frustration at his failure. Bookies will rake it in with him. Big Fat Sam for me. Don't care how boring we are, just lift this spectre of relegation off us. That's all I ask.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 with my friend. He is adamant stuart baxter met john williams earlier today. I'll be the first to ask. Is it just me? Who the hell is Stuart Baxter?
Bobby G Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Allardyce shortened again, but that was to be expected considering the last few bids on him...
tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I dont understand so the fields reflect the opposite of whats going on? Nope. The fields are showing you where you can put money on. If there's loads of money under "lay", that shows that a punter has backed Sam with X amount of cash (in this case £2300), setting a price of 2.4. There's currently £2260 of that money available so you can match his bet and bet against him.
Bobby G Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I'll be the first to ask. Is it just me? Who the hell is Stuart Baxter? Used to be Thailand coach IIRC. Allardyce shortening on Betfair and Souness drifting...
novella Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 i also heard something about stuart baxter earlier in the day but dismissed it. he isnt even on the betfair list (which is huge) and surely he would be if something was happening. stuart baxter is the finland coach. he has managed a fair few clubs in the likes of norway and sweden.
tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 True but I think that large amount of money just been placed on Sam will have a thing to do with it. Shame nicko's not around, I reckon we wouldve as good as known the identity of our next manager...
DeadlyDirk Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I'll be the first to ask. Is it just me? Who the hell is Stuart Baxter? Stuart Baxter
John Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 baxter is low cost and short term option. Not completely convinced but my friend is convinced he met john w and they had a positive chat today
Bobby G Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Souness now 6/1 on Betfair. Widest he has been all day...

DeadlyDirk Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 It's worth remembering that the likes of Allardyce were at prices like this at one stage when Ince was offered the job, I wouldn't be betting on him at the moment, he would rather go to Sunderland and unless he has been told by them that they are definitely not interested, which I guess is possible, then I don't think he'll take it. I wanted Bilic when Ince tookover, doesn't look like happening but you never know. At the moment I am favouring Souness, he did well for us initially, Tugay as his number two would be a good move. I'm not worried about him upsetting players, its what they need at the moment, a kick up the backside.
novella Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 sam allardyce has dropped loads on the sunderland market by the way. out to second or third favourite now.

RevidgeBlue Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Stan Collymore just been on now, saying he saw us on the opening day of the season at Everton when we were excellent and recently when at least 3 or 4 players including Roque looked like they wanted to leave. He again was putting a lot of blame at the players doors. Can't disagree with that. Tony Parkes earlier in the evening said that now we didn't have Jack Walker's money we might well become a yo yo club and maybe expectations at the Club are a bit too high. He also got suckered by Kelly and Houghton about making some unflattering remarks about Boards of Directors saying they weren't football people and they thought they knew more than they did etc. He probably didn't mean it to come out like it did but it sounded like he was talking about our Board.

Not completely convinced but my friend is convinced he met john w and they had a positive chat today To be honest I can't believe it myself, people would know about it, someone would have seen them and he would at least be on some of the bookies lists, you can't even get a price for him as far as I can see at the moment. Whoever it is were going to find out pretty soonish I think, tomorrow or even tonight.
Beta Ray Bill Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 You know, I think Baxter might be a low cost option.
Stuart Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 You know, I think Baxter might be a low cost option. Yes, but is he short term?
