Hi Paal,

Drastic times demand drastic measures I'm afraid, and none of the alternatives are much better. BFS has managed at lower levels too, something that will probably some in handy next season.

You should come on Saturday and give the team a shout.

Paul

I've spent too much money lately I'm afraid, and I'm going home to Norway for Christmas break as well. I will try to get to a game in January, been too long. But that of course depends on who Rovers appoint in the next few days ;).

I'm confident that Rovers will be ok this season and won't get relegated.

Soon you'll be telling me you're playing golf on match days!

See you soon.

Why isn't that good enough for you?

We're only thinking of him cos the last guy wasn't good enough. It works both ways.

If you were him you'd prefer Sunderland: better Premier League position, much bigger transfer budget, much more fans and probably a bigger wage too.

Whoever he joins he's going to put maximum effort into because above all else he wants to be a successful manager again.

I don't know, personally I want a manager who is keen to manage a club, not just because the job is available and he is unemployed and nobody else wants him. The same as I wouldn't want players who don't want to play for the club.

The thing is it's Sam Allardyce, he's no superstar, sure if its Mourinho then I'd be happy for us to be his second choice.

Of course he would put maximum effort in, he wouldn't last long otherwise, you could say the same for anybody who gets the job.

I think the best men for a relegation battle are Souness and Allardyce and I still don't like Allardyce so I know who I'd prefer out of the bunch that are available. I fully understand the views of people who wish to avoid paying to watch games if Allardyce is in charge and although I wouldn't go to the same extreme myself I'd be disappointed. I cannot comprehend even entertaining the idea of Roy Keane: he feels things are going poorly at Sunderland (in a considerably better position than ourselves) and walks away without a second thought - I think he's lost some of the fight he showed as a player! I don't think Mancini and Grant are realistic possibilities as I can't see either of them wanting the job and we can't offer them enough money to tempt them unless they do genuinely want it already. I don't think Curbishley has what it takes to keep us up and I don't think he believes he has what it takes so he won't put himself through it! It will be a monumental task for anyone though, even top world class managers would have a serious challenge on their hands.

I think the board have sacked Ince at the right time, given that they decided they would. Countless performances have indicated we'd get very little from the next six games which are really our best opportunity to pick up points we'll get all season and I think it Ince was probably in a situation where he was likely to be given a last chance at these few games but after the performance against Wigan it was rightfully decided that he just wasn't up to it so better to sack him sooner than later.

Hand on heart though I don't think it will make a difference, we'll still get relegated for three reasons: we have only one striker, we have no class in midfield and our defence (which for the past couple of years I've been proud of) now looks like they'd get turned inside out by Stanley!

The time for Sparky Mark II was in the summer - a gamble on a young, inexperienced manager. The gamble failed unfortunately for us. We are in deep sh*t with no guarantee of getting out of it even with a new manager. This decision is crucial. I was against him in the summer because I thought Newcastle had proved he was a one-trick pony. However, I'm ready to eat humble pie - I believe that BFS is the manager with the best chance of saving us this year. I think he will follow the Hughes model when he joined - fitness, hard to beat, take what you can from set-pieces - and frankly that is what we need now. It's the only way I can see us surviving. Will it be ugly - probably. Will he use us as a stepping stone? Well if he does it likely means we're still in the premiership, so I'll take that now. We're in a battle now and we need someone who's been in the thick of it before.

My choice would be Big Sam, purely based on the fact that he tends to get the best out of players and if he can manage that with our lot then we are already safe. We have the ability, just too many players out of form and confidence - if he can sort that then we should go for him.

Paul, I thought me and you agreed in the opinion of BFS on our travels to/from Ewood last season and the season before? :)

I won't see a Rovers game if he is given the job.

I got a flyer from Rovers through the post today about half season ticket, I tell you they won't sell many this year!

I simply don't get this attitude.

Could anyone put a reasonable, sensible, objective argument for this mentality?

Christ, it's like buying a cinema ticket then asking for a refund is it not?

So, in this instance - are you saying you've bought a season ticket & simply won't attend, or you will ask for a refund? Or you won't buy any 'walk up' tickets until Sam goes?

Madness. I don't like the guy, or anything he stands for, but that's not really the issue is it?
