The Sun reports today we're ready to offload Santa Cruz in a player (Sturridge) plus cash deal.

Also mention Rothen again for £1.5m

And Argentinian defender Civelli.

Nothing new in the RSC/Sturridge and Rothen links but i've not heard Civelli's name linked before.

Don't understand how we can do a player + cash deal for a player who's out of contract...... surely he's available on a free so can't be used in any swap deal.

I think that because Sturridge is under 23 it entitles City to a fee regardless of him being in or out of contract.

Doe's he not still command a fee due to the fact he came through the City academy? I'm sure thats the case for under 22 year olds.

I doubt he would come here anyway, apparently he thinks he's a superstar already. Nicko mentioned Sturridge think's he's off to Chelsea.

I wonder if we are still watching Marc Janko, his agent claims he is set for talks with Celtic, so that should mean he is a possible if we are interested.

Agent Georg Stangassinger said: "Marc remains open to the idea of Celtic after he was impressed by his talks with the coach.

"I have since had one more conversation with Celtic and we will talk again next week.

"Tottenham have had him watched recently but we're still more in contact with Celtic than any other club."

I was thinking about this...how can he think he's off to Chelsea when they don't even know who their manager is going to be next year? I can't imagine someone like Arnesen would be authorised to sign him in his role of youth development.

sturridge wants 65k a week

Does this guy live on planet earth? Who in their right mind is going to pay that sort of money for him?

He seems quite talented but hasn't even shown he can hold down a first team spot.

JANKO...Agent leaking the Celtic link, probably for the benefit of Rovers to try and get them at it...don't think it will work right now.

STURRIDGE...Arnesen is head of recruitment at Chelsea and now on the board...think you will find the player knows all about Chelsea's interest. ;)

And the £65k-a-week stuff looks like a Man City leak to discredit him because he is leaving. The boy and his family are not asking for that.

Didn't realise Arnesen had so much clout there, I thought they'd put him in charge of bringing in players to the youth academy. I can't imagine many top managers being happy having Arnesen bringing in first team players over the their head. More fool them.

The next Chelsea manager will know nothing about English talent...no matter who he is.

So the club have been sensible about trying to recruit local players as they need to have them for the 'quotas' if that rule ever comes in.

Chelsea will also be signing Ross Turnbull, the Middlesbrough keeper, as their new reserve.

Another Arnesen project.

To be fair to the scouting staff they picked out some good ones in the last window...and many of them are wanted by big clubs now too.

Janko was top of the foreign list in January, Dzeko was being watched...not sure about the big stump Zigic.

I don't see Crouch happening because he didn't fancy it in January and probably thinks he will get better now.

Anyway, hopefully none of them - mainly over-priced - will be needed.

Any chance that mystery name you referred to might be Michael Owen?

I understand the thinking behind it and it makes sense to have Arnesen working with whoever the new man is, but I still think it's a bit odd to be bringing in players like Sturridge before the new manager arrives. What if the new manager doesn't want him?

Turnbull makes sense mind, it should be easy for every team to get one of their 'homegrown' slots filled with the substitute goalkeeper.

Most foreign coaches are happy with the arrangement...and the next Chelsea coach will be foreign.

Nicko. Can you give us any Rovers related news. Is their anything behind the Rothen rumours...? Do you know what positions we are looking at filling? Is their any chance we might be interested in Bentley? Darren Bent?? Do you know how many players we might be bringing in? Is their going to be a shakeup with the Reserves/Acadamy as had been rumoured?

Oh and Eden Hazard? Any truth?
