gumboots Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 oh come on! i can;t believe people actually wanting warnock out for just 7 mil. He is by far one of our best players this season and a consistent contributor for the past seasons. Not to mention he is actually one of the few that showed passion to bring the team back on track by constantly showing it on the pitch. so unless we get anything above 10 mil. No way he is going anywhere.................. Thing is, you can't rip out most of your team and expect to hit the ground running next year. If, as expected, we lose/get rid of Santa Cruz Ooijer, Tugay and possibly Pedersen, Dunn, Andrews as some have suggested then to sell Warnock as well would seem excessive to me. I suppose it depends on what else is available at the correct price compared to what we got for him, but he's one I think we need to keep if possible.

Stuart Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Exactly, so how can the club sell a self employed player??? The player surely must be an employee, interesting note here, some accounting figures list players as assets in their accounts, if so they surely must be employees of the club? No Kelbo. Again, the value is in the contract. If you are self employed and agree a contract with a company, you have to honour that contract unless you pay compensation to break it (e.g. Beckham) or break it by your actions (e.g. Barton allegedly). That's why a fee can be agreed between clubs but terms must also be agreed with the player. The value of the player as an asset is therefore based on what his contract is worth. I would imagine that this is what won the case for Bosman.
Hughesy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Chelsea are leading the chase for Wolfsburg's £6m-rated striker Edin Dzeko. (Daily Mirror) We should be interested at that price surely!!

Maybe, but who's he going to choose? It's also bloody annoying that the Chelsea's of this world continue to poach the level of player Rovers might be interested leaving us to the freebies and bargain bin types!

And then even more infuriatingly leaving them on the bench. Its what is destroying the Premiership as a competition.
JC4LAB Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Think Boro have some good defenders and defensive midfielders..its the goal scoring that killing em off...Wheater in particluar is someone I wish we could get
Majiball Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 He looks decent. But I dont see much difference from the videos we saw before Villanueva's arrival. IMO Carlos should have stayed on at the right price, but since he ddint I cant see this Hazard fellow doing any better. Some fancy foot work, which we lack, but clearly easily outmuscled, which we dont need. I would be the first to admit Im wrong though Most 18 year olds are easily out-muscled. Hazard is a talent he already has 30+ app's for Lille, he'd also be home grown by 21 (possibly) if we signed him this year. I'd be very happy if this was true.
modes98 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Wheater in particluar is someone I wish we could get Villa £7m in the papers today and he fits in with the o'neill type (english) and they miss Laursen next season.
Hughesy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 They say Boro will demand £9m though, so o'Neill will need to UP his bid if thats the case.
broadsword Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Huth for 4 million quid?! I wouldn't give you 4 penny chews for him.
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Ooijer just signed a 1 year deal with PSV according to SSN.
Amo Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 How about Armand Traore? Young Arsenal left-back/winger on-loan at Pompey. Perhaps we could attempt another loan deal out of them.
Hughesy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Ooijer just signed a 1 year deal with PSV according to SSN. Good ridance. Done a good job for us, but is now ageing and slowing down even further.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Good ridance. Done a good job for us, but is now ageing and slowing down even further. I for one would have been far happier had we got a further year out of him. Now we have to look for a right sided defender with our already stretched thin transfer budget. I suppose this goes in some to lowering our wage budget though. A 30-something International defender is going to require allot of wages...
Hughesy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Id say that Emerton is our natural right back anyway (he's just been injured), so effectively we are losing a reserve.
Backroom DE. Posted May 21, 2009 Backroom Posted May 21, 2009 I appreciate the contribution Ooijer has made to the cause this year, but time for him and us to move on. I'm sure he'll do fine for PSV, and we'll bring in someone younger and hopefully better.
riverside returns Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Oiijer was excellent for us, he is a leader of men and a very cultured player often played out of position. Very rarely let us down and this season scored some pretty important goals. Good luck Andre and thanks
Backroom trueblue Posted May 21, 2009 Backroom Posted May 21, 2009 Good ridance. Done a good job for us, but is now ageing and slowing down even further. Bloomin' 'eck Hughsey... Good Riddance??? to a player whos been loyal, hard working and an asset to the club ???? I'd hate to hear how you 'thank' someone you don't rate as a Rovers player then
Hughesy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I didnt mean to be too harsh. It just sounds it! He has done a good job, but for the salary he is probably picking up (experienced international), its time for him to move on and then we can get some fresh blood in their, that isnt as slow and isnt going to cost us as much in wages.
Blue n White Rover Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Oiijer was excellent for us, he is a leader of men and a very cultured player often played out of position. Very rarely let us down and this season scored some pretty important goals. Good luck Andre and thanks I'll second that. Great attitude, and always got on with job without a sulk. HE deserves a good send off this weekend aswel as Tugay. Maybe not of the same magnitude, but he definately deserveres one. Maybe a few Holland flags ?
riverside returns Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Wow at this rate it wll be league of nations at ewood this sunday. What is going to happen when Santa Cruz comes out. Hope peole dont boo him, he could be the one who single handedly ensures a good season next year. He still did a fabulous job last year.
Hughesy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 What do you expect will happen to Santa Cruz? Shall we still applaud him? No way - He has burnt his bridges!! Even Big Sam said as much the other week, he deserves what he gets!
riverside returns Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Then the club and Sam need to keep him away from the ground on Sunday as the intention is to have a TUGAY celebration.. Let nothing spoil that.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Then the club and Sam need to keep him away from the ground on Sunday as the intention is to have a TUGAY celebration.. Let nothing spoil that. I don't get the shouting abuse thing and doing gestures. If the crowd want to show their unhappyness at Roque, they should do that slow sync clap...
philipl Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Surely folks aren't so daft as to have a go at Roque on Sunday!
