Fraserkirky Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Alfonso Alves could be worth a go, if the fee was right. My guess's Carlos Vela,Danny Wellbeck or Adriano!

ROVERS Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I'm absolutely convinced it's Bojan. I have no basis for it whatsoever besides blind faith and optimism. Anyway, this isn't the guesswork thread, I suppose. It must be Podolski!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha thats what i love about being a ROVERS FAN............
gumboots Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Is it Obafemi Martins or Tuncay Sanli. If its imaginative its hardly going to be one of those is it?
Ricky Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I'd be happier if the name didin't come out on here to be honest, I'd also be happier if it stayed out of the papers completely until the deal is done. The last thing we want to do is alert other clubs.
imy9 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 You really need to get a life imy. Have one mate, which means I spend less time on a PC, writing on a message board at 1 in the morning? maybe one should heed to his own advice?
pksrover Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Alfonso Alves could be worth a go, if the fee was right. My guess's Carlos Vela,Danny Wellbeck or Adriano! Well he has got quite a big history of personal problems, but if Big Sam could get him back on track we would have one of the best strikers around! I'd be happier if the name didin't come out on here to be honest, I'd also be happier if it stayed out of the papers completely until the deal is done. The last thing we want to do is alert other clubs. Yeah was thinking the same thing last night Ricky!
Manc Rover Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Alfonso Alves could be worth a go, if the fee was right. My guess's Carlos Vela,Danny Wellbeck or Adriano! You must be joking about Alves. He's had 2 years in the prem and just another foreign flop.

The last thing we want to do is alert other clubs. my sentiments exactly ricky. as exciting as it 'could', the worst thing that could happen is conjecture that alerts other snipers
rovers_rob Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 West Ham are willing to sell Dean Ashton. When he is fit he is a good player but it would be a huge gamble if we went for him.
Hughesy Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 You must be joking about Alves. He's had 2 years in the prem and just another foreign flop. NO seriously some people think he has a great scoring record Just it hasnt worked in the prem for him, maybe that tells its own staory - i.e. not good enough for this league. Personally id be gutted and annoyed if we wasted any cash on him. Ashton = ANOTHER crock. No Thanks, we cant take these risks
BuckyRover Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Hasn't Adriano signed for a Brazilian team???? Inter have cancelled his contract because he has taken indefinate leave from football.
Majiball Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Inter have cancelled his contract because he has taken indefinate leave from football. Didn't he pretty much sign for Flamengo as soon as his contract was torn-up.

Personally id be gutted and annoyed if we wasted any cash on him. Ashton = ANOTHER crock. No Thanks, we cant take these risks Aye scoring goals in Holland is one thing, scoring regularly for a mid table team (as Boro were when he signed) is another thing altogeher. At least our lazy type forward (Benni) knows how to put the ball in the net! As for Ashton, cracking player but 3 years of constant injuries spells DANGER. I'd go for Crouch if we can get him for less than £10M. He's young enough, proven, scores goals, never seems to get injured and would have a sell-on value being English (especially if this quota is introduced) and already has a strong reputation. He would also fit into our style.
kandi Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Inter have cancelled his contract because he has taken indefinate leave from football. Adriano now plays for Flamengo Rio de Janeiro.
Hughesy Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I think we really need to look at players with pace. Its been a major skill we have been lacking for many a year. Which strikers are out their that are pacey and actually within our range?
Majiball Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Striker with pace what about Scott Sinclair at Chelsea?????? Chelsea may even let him come on loan. I've been saying for ages we lack pace so hopefully your right Hughesy and we get some, perhaps Bolt wants a contract??. lol.
BuckyRover Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Adriano now plays for Flamengo Rio de Janeiro. That is almost correct. During his short leave he spent most of his time in nightclubs and eating fast food. His new manager says he isn't going to get his debut until he sorts his fitness out. Not an ideal target
PLZ Blue Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Nicko: Is your secret new player British/British based, or foreign?
Simon Says Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 The striker you are after is a 'before Roque goes' deal...not an 'after Roque goes deal.' It won't break the bank, it is within the budget and it is pretty imaginative. It has stayed quiet so far and needs to stay that way for a wee bit longer. There could be other things going on, but this one looks the furthest down the road of any potential deal. The name that I keep hearing is Kenwyne Jones. Any truth?
LeChuck Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 It can hardly be Kenwyne Jones if it's not a bank-breaker! I'm going to take a wild guess and say Eduardo on loan. Scott Sinclair isn't a bad shout though.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 If this is "before Roque goes" then it's a £3m job, which means Championship youngster or foreign.
