Whilst I agree Judge isn't yet ready, and have not seen enough of him to know if he ever will be, last night proved nothing regarding any players. Everyone is reading far too much in to this game. If it had been at Ewood on a proper pitch it would have meant a bit more, but still not loads as it was a disjointed team, all playing for themselves.

Nicko, Giggs has hinted at retirement apparently. Any idea on whether he would ever join another club? I don't think we would get him but I would be interested to see where he would go, if anywhere. I'm guessing this would be at the end of the season though. Chances are he would be free

Anyone for Peter Crouch if Roque goes? Not as quick as Roque but has good hold up play and will be an ideal replacement if he goes. Pompey may sell as they need the money, and Crouchy may well want to leave as Defoe has just gone.

He has also been in a relegation battle before with Southampton and would be a good buy in my opinion. Big Sam may want a target man like him up front aswell.

Your Thoughts?

More info about Givet;

Translated from french:

Gaël Givet could join Habib Beye in Newcastle

Marseille defender Gael Givet Photo: DPPI

Already courted by Blackburn defender of OM is emulated on the side of the Premier League. Newcastle is now willing to accept them for a permanent transfer.

According to Sebastian Bassong, the former defender of FC Metz, who arrived in Newcastle last summer, the Magpies continue to prospect in France. This winter, they would reform the ephemeral duo defense marseillaise version August 2007: Habib Beye-Gaël Givet. According to the Daily Mirror, the Newcastle coach Joe Kinnear wants to do everything to prevent Givet to go to Blackburn, a club with which he is in contact very advanced. The Marseille defender was on track to be loaned to Rovers, but the case could derail because Newcastle would be prepared to propose to the OM permanent transfer, and therefore a small sum of money.

The Magpies, currently 14th in the Premier League to two points in the first relegation, have the 6th worst defense of the championship in England. The arrival of Givet, experienced defender, who played including the final of the Champions League in 2004, could do great good in Newcastle, which remains a scathing cashed 5-1 at home against Liverpool. But the leaders of the Magpies may not yet looked at the statistics: Habib Beye and Gaël Givet have won any of the 4 matches they have played together ...

Another version, also translated from French:

L'Equipe said on Saturday that Gaël Givet will travel to England Monday to finalize, if any, of its loan to Blackburn. The English club is forcing since the middle of the week for the arrival of the former French international. Pape Diouf is not opposed to starting. The English club, wrote L'Equipe, has designs on Modeste M'Bam, also tracked by Newcastle.

BBC gossip report that Peter Lovendkrands has left his club, could be worth a shout if hes a free agent. Seem to remember he was a winger/forward with lighning pace.

He went off the rails big time in the end at Ibrox. Very inconsistent. He's like ###### off a shovel no doubt, but he's very frustrating.

Allardyce looking to bolster

Ryan Taylor?

Steven Finnan?

I haven't really kept up with the transfer gossip over the last few days but I read this report with bewilderment.

Why when our obvious and glaring priorities are central midfield and a right sided player to finally replace Bentley, (allowing Emerton to move back to RB) are we faffing about looking at right backs and cover at left back?

Quite possibly because Emerton is likely to continue at right wing for the remainder of the season and because Olsson is not ready for the prem so if Warnock gets injured/suspended or if he is wanted in midfield we have a more than able deputy.

Like someone else said in Nicko's thread, Big Sam is making us hard to beat and shoring up our defence so that we can survive this year. Then in the summer we can add the flair, skill, talent etc to turn us into a force again.

It is understandable in a way but I would like to see a right winger and centre midfielder too.

You might be right in your reasoning, but I would disagree with both of the above.

Emerton is fine at RB but not good enough on the right wing and I think Olsson has done very well this season, Spurs apart.

He's more than good enough as occasional cover in that position imo.
