Majiball Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 As long as they spend 3 years at the club prior to becoming 21 they count. At least thats how I understood it. FIFA home grown rules Didn't he join in Jan 06, so as its now Jan 09 and he's not 21 till may, surely he will count for next years foray into Europe?
the swede Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Think Sam should take a look at this guy, Sasha Kljestan. Saw him yesterday when USA played a friendly against Sweden. He was man of the match and scored all 3 goals when they beat us with 3-2. An attacking midfielder who also can be played as a Winger. He has been on trial for a week with Celtic and they haven't offered him a contract yet. Reported cost about £3m.
American Rover12 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 He's going to be class in a few more years. He gets better every game he runs out.
rebelmswar Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 He's going to be class in a few more years. He gets better every game he runs out. Can play quite comfortably on the wing or in the center. He would be a great asset imo.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Can play quite comfortably on the wing or in the center. He would be a great asset imo. Right sided player? All hypothetical because spending 3m on anyone seems to be way out of our price range these days. Might be a goer if he'd be prepared to come for a trial with a view to a loan, with an option to let him go without making the deal permanent!.

He plays a majority of his games for Chivas there, but floats toward the attack center much like Bentley did. Has a wicked free kick on him also. If he went on loan to Celtic he would come here. Must add he is one of those US players that never stops running and chases back when he looses possession. A much more mobile more skillful version of Clint Dempsy in that regard. Here is the goals from US Sweden. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_H-ddMDAsA

Oh by the way Waggy you must admit that Sam has done a very fine job at Rovers up to now and thats with no money as well.!!!!!!
Kelbo Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 just shows how desperate lardarse was to get back into football,we should be signing players,a couple of injuries and we are back to the bare bones.surly he knows we need strengthing, come on bfs demand the money Sam knew the score or should have when he took the job on, fact is, as a manager 1,000,000 times better than Ince, his managerial and organisation skills allow him to do a pretty good job without money, however, he is looking for the right player, what do we want more average players or a bit of quality?? Unfortunately, there aint that much quality available in this window!!
LeChuck Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Worth a Punt for next year??? Saw the word 'Traore' in title bar as the page was loading and assumed Armand, I was going to agree with that. It didn't cross my mind that someone would seriously suggesting Djimi. You were joking, right?

Maybe you like him because you both have the letter J in the middle of your name.

The Prof. Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Board 'ain't for spending guys - it's causing friction. Who do we get if Sam goes?
jim mk2 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Board 'ain't for spending guys - it's causing friction. Who do we get if Sam goes? First clause is fact, second is opinion, third part is speculation. Careful about speculation, it's against the rules don't you know.
Dan Furness Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 First clause is fact, second is opinion, third part is speculation. Careful about speculation, it's against the rules don't you know. Well if you think they have no intention of spending, they are spending enough money sending their scouts all over Europe - sometime more than once to the same location
BuckyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 See post above yours. I was quoting LeChuck's post because I read LeChucks post, but interpreted it in the same way as LeChuck had interpreted Majiball's post. Was that too hard to understand??
philipl Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Well if you think they have no intention of spending, they are spending enough money sending their scouts all over Europe - sometime more than once to the same location The point I was going to make and not just in Europe and Sam travelling as well. Not helped by City dithering over RSC forcing two shopping lists.
BuckyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 The point I was going to make and not just in Europe and Sam travelling as well. Not helped by City dithering over RSC forcing two shopping lists. That's going to slow them down.
Blue n White Rover Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Anyone for Peter Crouch if Roque goes? Not as quick as Roque but has good hold up play and will be an ideal replacement if he goes. Pompey may sell as they need the money, and Crouchy may well want to leave as Defoe has just gone. He has also been in a relegation battle before with Southampton and would be a good buy in my opinion. Big Sam may want a target man like him up front aswell. Your Thoughts? I asked a couple of weeks ago. I still firmly believe Crouchy would be the ideal replacement for Roque if he goes.
