bigbrandjohn Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I tell you one on his shopping list that would have had us spitting bullets if we had signed him is Jimmy Bullard. Hull must be worried about their investment.
47er Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Early in the transfer window I wondered about the possibility of resurrecting Nugent's career. I thought maybe 3M would have got him. Watching him against Liverpool he seems to be getting some form back now he is playing more often. Wouldn't be 3M now. That's the story with us eg Kitely, unless we get in quick before the rest cotto n on we can't afford the fee or fight off the competition. We have to take a bit of an informed risk.
67splitscreen Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Could still be on the trail of Janko. Scouts to watch Wednesday.
John Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Blackburn Rovers are planning to hijack Sunderland's efforts to land on-loan striker Djibril Cisse on a permanent £10million deal.
1864roverite Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Appiah would be a very astute investment on a short term deal. he is a central midfielder and would give us a little bit more cover in that area and for the price we could pay with relegation it is certainly a decent proposition if it came about.
Neil Weaver Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 One to watch till the window opens again - the Cov number 12 (Gunnarsson was it?). Young and looked full of energy yesterday, no idea what sort of price he might be but if he continues in the same vein as yesterday we could do a lot worse. As to whether he'd come to a relegated team..........
Hughesy Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 According to reports we scouted Zigic again at the weekend
roversmum Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 By the time we make a decision about Zigic he will have retired from football...
LeChuck Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Just thought I'd bump this as people seem to be starting entirely new threads for transfer rumours.
philipl Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Bullard to fly to States for a knee operation Hull gambled and are losing out thus far.
herbergeehh Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 We're now following Aron Gunnarson's progress, according to a Coventry newspaper. Could easily be someone putting two and two together after he turned the game around on Saturday. He looked impressive though, I actually found myself thinking "this guy has qualities we need" during the game.. David Dunn at 22?
Bennisfromheaven Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 We always seem to get linked with lower league players who perform well against us in cups, remember misfud last year & there was a guy from Larissa. It always turns out to be paper talk! ..........Why cant we get linked to the Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea players that perform well against us!?!?!
nicko Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 There is something in the Gunnarsson story. His agents were at the game on Saturday - and guests of Rovers. Both the agents are 'known' to the manager. However there are a lot of clubs watching the kid and he would cost a lot of money... And the summer seems a long way off at the moment.

Plenty of time for us to arrange a *nudge, nudge, we'll see you alright* deal, have the player turn in some crap performances and have a sulk? That should sort the price out, right? Or is it just the big clubs that are allowed to do that?

LeChuck Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 One thing to be mindful of is that the goal against us was his first ever in senior football, so I'm not sure he would be the answer to that problem...it was more of a Mokoena-esque freak goal rather than something he produces on a regular basis. He does look a useful player though. If we can find £3.3 million for a old crock like Grella then surely we can find money for a young, talented player like him?
scotchrover Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 By the time we make a decision about Zigic he will have retired from football... And then we'll offer him a trial with a 3 year loan deal before making our mind up on a permanent transfer
Hughesy Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 He looks a talented player, however im sure he requires much more scouting yet. Appart from his goal, I felt he went down far too easily and against stronger midfields in the premiership he will just get bustled out of the game. There seems to be alot of interest in him, so we shall see. Nicko - what sort of money are we talking to get him?
nicko Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Nicko - what sort of money are we talking to get him? It's impossible to say right now...that will come down to who would be interested in the summer. However the lad is definitely on the 'watch' list. There are some big clubs looking too, but that could change - and the fact Coventry are likely to see their season fizzle out [after a heavy doing tonight ] will actually help.
AggyBlue Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Appart from his goal, I felt he went down far too easily and against stronger midfields in the premiership he will just get bustled out of the game. He's a 50p head too
bigbrandjohn Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I know we are frustrated at not going for it big time in the transfer window but we could have spent some money and ended up like this. Then we would have been depressed. My maths works that out at $135,000 per minute for a thirty year old. yikes http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...ity/7878085.stm
Hughesy Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Everyone said Bullard was crock before his move, and now so it has proved. Looks like Hull have got themselves stung on that deal. Bullard has had dodgy knees for some time. It will be very interesting to see who Sam targets in the summer. Its obvious Roque is looking to go - but we surely have to make that deal happen early on in order for us to do our own business. I saw a rumour on the sunderland website the other day (echo i think) that we have targetted Cisse for £8m.

It's funny how no one mentions the Bullard injury as much now. When Sam missed out on him in the January Window, then the board was given a lot of stick for not backing the manager. So what do them people have to say now?
