Do you not think MaCarthy and Roberts have been inconsistant plus with their ages acting against them, suggests to me they might need replacing aswell as.

So sell all of our forwards?

Spurs are a pretty good example of what happens if you try to buy a new squad every summer, we need to following the Everton route of continuity really. A replacement for Roque and a couple of new midfielders would be enough upheaval for me.

So you're saying you've been happy with them this season, fair enough. Personally cant see them getting any better.

My judgment is coming form watching them both at Coventry last week, they didnt do it, surely there could be someone better out there to replace these guys.

I think the following players will leave next summer in a Sam Allardyce clear-out: Ooijer, Simpson, Vogel, Tugay, Rigters, Gallagher, Villanueva, Derbyshire, Santa Cruz.

This leaves room for at least a right back, a right winger and a striker (BFS will probably constrain us to a lone striker, which only gives need for 3 first team forwards.) With money spent on Givet as a permanent signing I see us starting something like this next season:

GK: Robinson

RB: Emerton

CB: Nelsen

CB: Samba

LB: Givet

CM:Warnock

CM:Grella

CM: Dunn

RW: Diouf

LW: Gamst Pedersen

S: McCarthy

Anyone feeling confident? :(

Agree its all got to be done on a shoestring but If Rovers can afford to pay attractive wages then hopefully they might JUST be able to pull it off.Rovers arent going to be alone come the summer with financial restrictions.

Wages are already far too large a percent of our turnover. That's why we can never afford to spend much.

Where do you get 10 million for Ince and his staff? It isn't anywhere near that. Don't know the figure, but it AINT that. You're also forgetting the money received for Hughes and his staff. And you can't talk in one breath about signing all these players then acknowledge in the next that we don't have money to spend.

'When I say stars of tomorrow, it includes them being able to produce in a premiership match with instant success.'

Players who are able to produce instantly in the Prem AND are stars of tomorrow cost a fortune we don't have.

That would leave us with:

GK

Robinson

Bunn

Brown

Defenders

Warnock

Samba

Nelsen

Emerton

Givet

Khizanishvili

Midfielders:

Dunn

Andrews

Grella

Pedersen

Diouf

Strikers

Santa Cruz

Benni

Roberts

There are a few youngsters but most won't make it...

So, my priorities would be:

CM

RB

LW

RW

which should be within our means, if a reasonable amount of players are offloaded.

as i agree with the majority, of the players youve listed, the funds from the lesser wages, should really go to strenghtening our squad.

and as the this thread is called sam´s shopping list, are there so far, any rumours regarding, who might be on his list..?

£10m for Ince and his cohorts ? Dont make me laugh.

Ince was on a progressive contract that had the qulaification incentives inbuilt, he was not on a pretty packet compared tot he lowest paid Premiership managers. His staff were not on massive money.

Therefore any compensation agreements are nowhere near that figure of £3m let alone the £10m you suggest. I would estiamate that each got a years salary at best.

Sams shopping list HAS to be a RIGHT BACK, CENTRAL MIDFIELDER and a STRIKER, these are PRIORITY.

Outbound = Simpson, Ooijer, Carlos, Treacy, Roberts, Gally, Ritgers, Mokoena, Zurab, Vogel and Tugay (unless offered coaching role).

Money is going to be tight so he must USE the loan signing scenario, there will be plenty about.

Ince was on around £1.5m per year on two and half year contract total £3.75m, plus how much for his staff on a similar length probably takes the total to around £5m then theres the loss of prize money possibly £2m plus then theres the waste of space fees paid to players unfit for purpose, it soon starts heading towards the £10m mark.

Anyhow wheres LECHUCK does he still see Roberts and MaCarthy having a future at Rovers next season after last night.

That Appiah bloke is desperate for a club for a few games. Anyone think he can do a job for Rovers for the last few games of the season ?

Is he worth an outlay to try and stem the midfield problems ?

Appiah has been after a club all season long. Spurs had him all January and he would not drop his wage demands. A mercenary who ahs not played all season. Just what we need. We've one already in Vogel.

These wholesale departures quoted would not be healthy for the club. I agree that there is a need for some to be offloaded and no doubt this will happen. In my humble opinion we will see Gally and Ooijer leave for definate. With Simpson and Villanueva going back to Utd and Audax Italiano. I must add that Ferguson must have been laughing to himself all season long over the Simpson deal!! Taking our goalkeeping coach in return for a season long loan of Danny Simpson!!!!! I just hope they have been paying his wages.

I would imagine Treacy will be loaned out and Derbs will return.

If we could get a fair price for derbs i think Sam would take it, but i would be suprised if this happens.

I sincerely hope Zurab stays. To have someone of his quality as a back up is a must. It could be argued we could stomach his loss by signing someone of similar ilk. But his day to day involvement with the other defenders at the club means he is half way to forging a partnership with anyone of them if and when he is called upon. I guess this one depends on his desire for regular football.

But the encouraging thing is, there are loads of clubs who have over spent and are in the situation where they need to offload. If ever there was a time to pick up decent loans or free transfers it must be now. We just have to hope Allardyce kept himself relatively well informed during his time away from the game. Because as we all know he has a proven track record of picking up good quality players on the cheap.

Givet should be signed.

1) He allows warnock to play in midfeld

2) He can play inside. Seeing as Nelsen is getting on a bit and Ooijer will be off soon we desperately need cover forthe central area.

Surely we will join in the summer. I'm pretty sure we could top the wages he is getting at marseille
