67splitscreen Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I think you're all forgetting we're not home and dry yet. No your rite, back to the doom and gloom.

Eddie Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Givet is good, he's not a fantastic defender, but he is good. He's very unhappy at Marseille so I am sure he would want to join.
gumboots Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Givet is good, he's not a fantastic defender, but he is good. He's very unhappy at Marseille so I am sure he would want to join. He's a superb header of the ball and very committed when he goes in to win balls. If he signs and keeps that attitude he'll do well.
Kelbo Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Givet is good, he's not a fantastic defender, but he is good. He's very unhappy at Marseille so I am sure he would want to join. Givet is a great defender, watch his positional play, doesnt get bullied, strong and intelligent, you dont play for France if you cant defend and play football!! I hope he will sign for Rovers but I am sure it will depend upon our status come the end of the season!!
Eddie Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 How many full games of his play have you seen exactly? I've been watching games involving Givet for a good number of years and spoke to Monaco fans when he came to us on loan. He's good, no doubt about it and he has always deserves his call-ups to the French side, although he's generally been a squad man. He'd be a good signing for us, although I'd still like to see the fee worked down a bit given his situation in Marseille.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 No point signing him until the end of the season - we have him until then, right? If we sign him now, we could have two issues - we could go down, or he could suffer a long term/career ending injury thus being a waste of cash.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 That's a bit harsh, what has Vogel done to be labelled a mercenary? Nothing much and thats my point. The fact he never gets picked but never asks for a transfer. By all accounts quite happy to sit at Rovers for the remainder of his contract and get paid. Just like that Chelsea defender a while back.
John Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 We were linked with Dzeko in January: Gunners coach confirms interest in Wolfsburg striker
Hughesy Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Former West Ham and Tottenham striker Frederic Kanoute, who currently plays for Sevilla, says he could be on the verge of return to the Premier League. (The Independent) Wouldnt mind him in our squad. Manchester City manager Mark Hughes is set for a summer clear-out, with Dietmar Hamann, Darius Vassell, Elano, Michael Ball and Benjani all likely to be offloaded. (The Guardian) Id take Elano and maybe even Benjani from this lot. I also would look seriously at Onuha - he looks a good player.
Oklahoma Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 According to the online newspaper "Marca", Valencia will sell or release 12 to 16 players. Morientes and Curo Torres will be out of contract. Villa, Silva, Joaquin, Moretti, Marchena, Albiol, Miguel and Manuel Fernandeswill be sold for a lot of money. Albelda, Baraja, Del Horno, Hugo Viana, Edu are available for sale but there are not many interested so they just might be released for nothing. Some of them are completely impossible for us but others could be good signings.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Rovers trial for Danish duo And for those who can't access the link: "Bassel Zakaria Jradi and Uffe Bech are both set to spend the next eight days training with the Premier League outfit, according to sources in Denmark. The talented teenagers are highly regarded in their homeland and have already represented their country at U16 level. Jradi is currently on the books of B93 and is a commanding defender, while Lyndy BK starlet Bech is an eye-catching midfielder. Reports suggest the pair could remain at Ewood Park should they impress the Rovers coaching staff." ======== Any Danish Rovers fans on the board? or has anyone else heard about these players? Also Ooijer's agent claims a deal has been struck with PSV: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_5066751,00.html
nicko Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Ooijer's agent claims a deal has been struck with PSV: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_5066751,00.html Think that is correct...he also had the chance of AZ Alkmaar but fanices PSV instead.
Sparky Marky Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Just goes to show how crap the Dutch league is...! Can't wait to see back of Ooijer....
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Just goes to show how crap the Dutch league is...! Can't wait to see back of Ooijer.... I think thats very harsh, he has been a good servant to the club and has given his all. I think its time to let him go though, he is 34 years old and clearly wants to finish his career in his homeland.
Hughesy Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Too old & slow now, and probably taking £30k a week off our weekly wage budget. Time to go - Thanks for your service for the last 3 years. Will we replace him? Or will Emerton go back into Right back again??
ultrablue Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Its in the papers here that Lee Geun Ho - the Korean striker we've had on trial has delayed a move to the Dutch league in order to try for a move to Wigan. Another Korean Cho Won Hee moved to the JJB a few weeks back on a free and Lee is out of contract too and looking to do the same The new K-League season has just started without Lee finding a club at home - so he's pretty eager for a European move as quick as possible. Could be an option
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Will we replace him? Or will Emerton go back into Right back again?? I'd go with Emerton though it all depends on how well he recovers from his serious injury. Even if Emerton comes back fit and looking good its looking like we may have to bring in a new right back, with Ooijer leaving and Simpson probably going back to United we don't have much cover. Unless there is a youngster ready to make the step up?
LeChuck Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Ooijer's a great example of why we shouldn't buy old players. He cost us £2 million, now he's leaving for nothing and we have no money to replace him with, so it'll probably have to be a freebie or a loan. If we do that with other players it's a cycle that will see us go down very quickly (and the very reason I'm delighted we avoided Bullard). For me he goes down as Hughes' poorest signing. He was very error prone when he arrived, then was injured for a while, and eventually settled into a role as an adequate-at-best full back. The money could have been spent far better, and we won't have a chance to reinvest anything we paid for him.
Hughesy Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Maybe try a cheeky loan bid for Rafael at United? Or like I said earlier - Onuha at City - maybe part-x if they still want Roque.

Righters, Youri, Mokoena Don't think he was ever really given a chance at his best position once he was settled.
LeChuck Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Righters, Youri, Mokoena Don't think he was ever really given a chance at his best position once he was settled. Those 3 combined don't even come to half of what Ooijer cost. I bet we can get our money back on Rigters when he leaves, even if he crap.
QOTSA Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Selective memory from some regarding Ooijer, who though slow is still very capable. For much of last season, he was Rovers' most reliable defender. To say he was a bad signing is ridiculous. £2 million isn't oodles, even for a club like Rovers, who will have had three of his best years.
