rover6 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Those 3 combined don't even come to half of what Ooijer cost. I bet we can get our money back on Rigters when he leaves, even if he crap. LeChuck, I'll take you on that bet. After all, we all know how top European sides prize patience in a player. And Rigters has been remarkably patient sitting on Barnsley's bench. There is absolutely no way we will recoup on Rigters. We will either get a fraction or, more likely, he will go for free. Maceo Rigters must go down as Hughes' worst signing. As for Ooijer, he was a great player for PSV and they were furious that he was leaving (fans, anyway). However, those canny Dutch guys sold him at the perfect time. Age has gnarled up his game and he is now of no use in a decent standard league.

Hughesy Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 By signing a free or by a part ex? Onouha as part of the deal to take Roque away would be good. Is there a site anywhere of who will be out of contract in summer?
super_arran Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I've read somewhere (think it might have been the nicko thread) that Sam's main targets this summer are an "out and out" right winger and a Roque replacement with Emo goin back to play right back.....

I suspect that the Premiership hussle and bussle was just too fast for him. Remember he had an excellent Euro 2008 last summer.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 By signing a free or by a part ex? Onouha as part of the deal to take Roque away would be good. Is there a site anywhere of who will be out of contract in summer? Hughsey- Onouha will not b on his way to Ewood this summer. He has been City's best defender this season and pushed Richards out to RB. Infcat, I would say their is more chance of Richards joining than Onouha and ven that is very very unlikely. When we were linked to him it 18 months ago he was well down the pecking order; now he is their first choice CB.
brightonrover Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Oojer has hardly played in his natural centre half position for the Rovers and from where he captains Holland.
Lurid Coat Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I've read somewhere (think it might have been the nicko thread) that Sam's main targets this summer are an "out and out" right winger and a Roque replacement with Emo goin back to play right back..... I think we need two good central midfielders more than an out and out right winger. At least we've got Diouf and Emerton who can play on the right wing, whereas our central midfield must rank amongst the worst in the Premiership.
T4E Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 According to the online newspaper "Marca", Valencia will sell or release 12 to 16 players. Morientes and Curo Torres will be out of contract. Villa, Silva, Joaquin, Moretti, Marchena, Albiol, Miguel and Manuel Fernandeswill be sold for a lot of money. Albelda, Baraja, Del Horno, Hugo Viana, Edu are available for sale but there are not many interested so they just might be released for nothing. Some of them are completely impossible for us but others could be good signings. Morientes would be a very Sam-esque signing.
rover6 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Sadly, that is true. Javi Moreno Mk II - although perhaps a bit better.
Amo Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Sam will move for either CSKA Moscow's Vagner Love or Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko, after the sale of Santa Cruz.
Mozzer Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 were also linked with sean davis from portsmouth today... david dunn linked to sunderland and apparntly he has already held talks (which i dont believe) lol
Sandiway Blue Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Alan Hutton from Spurs anyone? Nope, nowhere near good enough.
andyroversmad Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Sam will move for either CSKA Moscow's Vagner Love or Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko, after the sale of Santa Cruz. Where did you hear that ? Vagner Love would be a quality signing
thenodrog Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Where did you hear that ? Vagner Love would be a quality signing I'm not so sure. A temperamental Brazillian will hardly appeal to Allardyce. But nationality has never put him off a player. He signed Pieboy Jardell rem.... and came to regret it too I think.
gazsimm Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Big Sam needs a good goalie as his first priority! he's got one allready in Robinson
speeeeeeedie Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Nope, nowhere near good enough. Is he? I've only seen him play a few times and looked OK. He got injured then Spurs bought Corluka and he'll never get that spot back. He cost them £9 million; or is that on a par with the Darren Bent money.
Hughesy Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Where did you hear that ? Vagner Love would be a quality signing I would be delighted if we could get him. He is top quality.
gillibrand Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 It would great if we could get a goal scorer who would score some goals for us.
Backroom trueblue Posted March 30, 2009 Backroom Posted March 30, 2009 Where did you hear that ? Vagner Love would be a quality signing There was a story on the back page of the 'People on Sunday' yesterday.. but they do not appear to have that story on thier website
Amo Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Yes, it was the Sunday People. Not courtesy of nicko, before you ask. @Theno - Sam managed to handle Diouf & Anelka at Bolton, who are proverbial hot potatoes.
JAL Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 he's got one allready in Robinson I mean one that stops goals from being conceded
gazsimm Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I mean one that stops goals from being conceded i think since Sam has come in, Robinson has been good for us and i can't seem to remember him letting any silly goals in of late. Robinson is a good keeper, he has had a couple of bad moments in his career which did not help his confidence, but i think since Big Sam has come into the club he has not put much wrong what i can remember. He is not as good as Brad was, but i think about 17 other teams in the premier league don't have a keeper better then Brad.

Only caught the second half of the West Ham game were Rovers played mainly in the hammers half but watching Robbo didnt inspire me at all he looked extremely nervous, unsure of himself, which I find very odd when he had very little to do. Obviously the pressure is taking its toll on the lad hopefully he will come through this long period a better goalkeeper but he certainly aint there yet for me to have confidence in him. He has a fantastic kicking ability which obviously suits the manager down to a tee and he is vocal which are plusses, its just the rest of his game that doesnt instill confidence. Hes got the rest of the season to turn up and show us just how invaluable he is to the first team i'm rooting for him to do it. Hes got to do it when we need him most.
