Where does that link come from? Tribal just gathers links from other sources it's not their story. Probably just a way of generating ad revenue for the site owner.

i'd take brunt and fortune from wba quite happily.......striker with pace who can create openings himself and left midfielder who looks to have a lot of qualities and a decent work ethic.

not a single player at boro, newcastle or hull i'd touch with a barge pole

We need a minimum of 4 players-------2 central mid-fielders, hopefully not old and with pace,1 striker if SC stays, 2 if he goes-------again pace should be a factor + a right-back. This means 5 players if we sign Givet which we should.

To balance all that, quite a few players should go--------Treacy, Zurab(sadly), Tugay, Simpson, Gallagher.Villanueva, Mokoena, Andrews, Oojier and Derbyshire.

Reid,Grella and Dunn have all been a drain on the wage bill but wouldn't want to lose Dunn and can't see us getting much for the other 2.

A player I'd like to see us targetting from one of the clubs that may go down is Danny Guthrie from Newcastle. He seemed to do reasonably well at Bolton and when I've watched him play for Newcastle this season he appears to be quite creative in the centre of midfield which is exactly what we need. A player who as well as being young would be relatively cheap to sign.

On tonights performance I personally would not want us to sign Guthrie. I thought his deliveries from set pieces were poor and would not offer much more than we already have.

I like the look of Brunt at WBA and think he would be a decent replacement for Pedersen should we sell him in the summer.

Knowing Sam we will probably sign some unknown bulgarian and a 35 year old former world player of the year.

I thought his delivery from corners etc was pretty decent. Was alot better on a consistent basis than Ped does for us at present.

As for the people suggesting Brunty, he is like a Northern Irish version of MGP as he is both slow and only has a decent left foot. Of recent for both Northern Ireland and West Brom he has been putting in the effort and as a result he is setting up a good few goals and scoring. IMO he had his best game in his career for Northern Ireland in our 3-2 over Poland recently. However I would almost guarantee that come next season Brunty will revert to type and slide back to his lazy frustrating talented self.

looks like the buy out clause will put an end to this interest

BTW for those who wouldnt want any boro players, i would love to see tuncay in a rovers shirt

and if villa do land zigic , what chance carew at rovers next year?

Yep, I like Tuncay to. No way would we be able to afford Carew though even if Villa let him go and no way would he join us.

I've no idea if Clint Dempsey would be available and I'm not sure he'd uproot up north but I like the cut of his gib. He's big, mobile, athletic and a decent finisher.

I dont think that the Barcodes had either Nolan or Ryan Taylor on the bench last night. I'm sure that wont have gone unnoticed by Allardyce.

Nolan has had it, he's way past it.

And to add to all that, as has been said on here numerous times in the past, he bleeding well hates Blackburn.

I'm not overly keen on the lad myself but I think the Allardyce link may supersede his antipathy towards us. He is only 26 and was a very effective midfielder for the Trotters. I think he was being touted as a potential England player not long ago.

Nolan was dropped as a result of a tactical switch by big Al Shearer, he certainly isnt inured.

Nolan for Rovers ? Its not a bad shout and I am certain that he would flourish under Sams leadership. He has many positives, he can pass, run all day, defend and score goals. On the downside he has previously slated BRFC.

He could be the ready made Tugay replacement.

What is certain that of this seasons midfield combination, it wont be the same when we kick off next season.

Outgoing = Tugay and the Axe (freebies), Treacy, Dunny and potentially Andrews. MGP will have the proverbial rocket if he wants to stay, Carlos wont be signed whilst Warnock will return to left back.

I reckon we will have Emerton, Reid, Grella, Diouf PLUS 1 major signing and MGP. Thats 6 midfielders with the likes of Doran and Judge on the fringes. We will probably have a loanee signing for this area or I fancy a bid for Pennant to take the right side leaving Emerton to take the right back slot.

Squad for 09/10

Bunn

I dont see the squad going over 22/23 players and would expect a good cup run in with a top 10 finish.

Have you heard anything else about that rumour you mentioned yesterday? If there's any truth in that it would obviously effect transfer business a great deal.
