Hughesy Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Let me get this straight - We might not have Allardyce as manager next season? YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! N.B. Fire away with your "you-must-hate-the-club" responses if you must, I know I don't - I love Blackburn Rovers, but will never, ever be at ease with the "style" of football we've adopted. You would just rather we got relegated? Or maybe you would like some fancy name manager who might play attractive football but still lose each week? Style isnt an issue - results are. If we play lovely passing football but finish bottom of the league (I.e. West Brom) that is ok for you? Or would you rather we play hard and play to our strengths and finish top 10? I know which Id choose.

nicko Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 What do you mean by the Wigan man? I might be missing something here but it doesn't make any sense... Sorry, I meant Wigan win... Doh.
leftfooter Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I will. I know the manager is a bit grumpy that the club has not 'sorted him out' yet with regards to the future... I did the story about the 'review clause' in the People about seven or eight weeks ago and the process of sitting down and looking at next season's staffing and funding has not started. Obviously the manager wants to know what he is on and what backroomstaff he can bring in before even getting round to moving players in or out. The Wigan man may bring it forward, but I think this whole issue could have many twists and turns to come. Taking Nicko's comments at face value, this is grist to the mill to the school of thought that questions whether John Williams is still up to the job of running a dynamic enterprise that a Premier League club/franchise has become. If reports are true, after an excruciatingly public and drawn out interview process he selected Paul Ince and then continued to pander to him throughout his shambolic tenure, despite all around quickly losing trust and confidence in the fella. Fast-forward a few months and the man that has (almost) saved his hide is left standing outside the office, kicking his heels. It might not please the aesthetes amongst us, but should Big Sam walk at the end of the season, we'll probably end up right back were he found us before not too long.

nicko Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 what do u think will happen then Nicko I don't know. I suppose the first thing will be a meeting between Sam and the board pretty soon... But there are quite a few issues to go through, size of staff and budget etc. Then it's about transfers etc and the first player to work on - time-wise - is Givet. However, before you sign players you need to be sure the management team is in place and all of those matters sorted out.
Hughesy Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 1st Priority is survival. Once that is confirmed - then we can start looking at the management/ staff & players. Stop worrying will you - he will be our manager next season, no doubt about that. Will be interesting to see if Sbragia leaves Sunderland and heads to ewood to join big Sam.
Oklahoma Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Maniche and Seitaridis are in deep trouble in Atletico Madrid. both were suspended and fined because they failed to attend the last Atletico Madrid game. Recent news report that Maniche is trying to be released immediatly... Maniche could be good for us, Seitaridis I don't think so.
T4E Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Style isnt an issue - results are. I shall be making this my signature.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Stop worrying will you - he will be our manager next season, no doubt about that. Well I think I would get over the disappointment if he isn't.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zo...r-lukas-konigsh Anyone else think this move is a complete waste of time? Robinson is looking the fittest he has for years and is started to show some decent form and Bunn looks a decent prospect. We also have Brown, Fielding and that highly rated German lad…
Bennisfromheaven Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Freudian slip? exactly what i was thinking!! Nicko, you seem to be knocking around here a bit more lately, warming up for a busy summer on Nickos thread????

Amo Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 No, I don't think it's a waste of time. Let's keep our options open in the goalkeeper department. Also, Brown and Fielding are both too short, and I doubt either of them will be anymore than reserve goalies.

super_arran Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Why would the board hold talks about next season when we don't know what our budget will be? As soon as we are mathematically safe, I'm pretty sure the talks will start. Just seems daft that people think because nicko said that the manager was "a bit grumpy" it's panic stations and he's off in the summer... Mountain. Mole hill.

When we're so weak in every other area of the field, looking at a 5th keeper is missing the point a little.
Amo Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 That's if Brown and Fielding are even here next season.
HemelRover Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 That's if Brown and Fielding are even here next season. Exactly what im thinking. If Sam can get a decent fee for two or more of Bunn, Brown, Fielding, Bussman or Neilsen(sp) and this young Austrian is cheap and up to standard then thats money he can use to strengthen elsewhere.

He often looks grumpy even when we're doing well anyway. It's just his looks.

Our budget will not be known until the end of the season when we know our final standing, there could be a extra few quid available if we finish closer to 10th!!!

Yeh I know that, I was just saying that we'd have a better idea of the budget when we know we're not going down; so then talks could start and if we keep doing well this season the talks can develop further.

Robinson is looking the fittest he has for years and is started to show some decent form and Bunn looks a decent prospect. We also have Brown, Fielding and that highly rated German lad… No definitely not, any player who could be better than what we currently have should never be overlooked even if we think the player hes replacing is the best at the club, surely this way it prevents complacency creeping in on the players and keeps everybody on their toes. Are Rovers back up keepers really ever going to be good enough for the premier league when you consider how poor the outfielod back up players are.

I guess it’s just the frustration of knowing that there are other areas that need fixing first. I've been harping on for the past three/four years about there being a problem in midfield, it’s that blatantly obvious its where the money needs to be spent. So far we have been linked to two midfielders, one well out of our price range and another from a lower division. Its early days I know, but if we don't start getting linked to some realistic midfield options I have serious worries for next season.
