nicko Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Is this the story you mentioned earlier in the week Nicko http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html also Leicester are ready make Blackburn a permanent offer for reserve goalkeeper Mark Bunn Warnock will be on his way from what I hear...and the money will go on Givet. There is a need to do Givet quickly as the agreement with a fixed price of around £4 million runs out soon. And as Roque won't be fit enough to be sold - and Givet can take Warnock's left back slot - it should be a case of one in and one out. Selling Warnock, signing Givet and making a small profit looks sensible to me. Warnock has been disappointing this season, Givet is better at left back than centre half by the look of it. Spurs and Villa are both keen and are revved up to move in for Warnock

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Warnock's had itchy feet since Hughes left. Anybody who doesn't want to be at the club should be moved on for the best deal we can get. I'm sick of players who have no respect for our club.
rover6 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 No way. Givet is not mobile enough to be our regular left back. It would be a massive mistake to let Warnock go, unless we have a real left back in mind to replace him. BTW: Last night I dreamt that we signed a African holding midfielder called Victor Okpara and he scored two goals in a 2-0 win. Just googled the guy and as yet, he works as an Accountant for CanWest Media Works in Toronto but his time is coming...

Spurs and Villa are both keen and are revved up to move in for Warnock Might look sensible on paper but I don't think it does to a fair proportion of the fans who are voting him player of the season in most cases. We're doing again what what we do every season. I accept that we have to sell to survive, but why only ever our decent players. Why not sometimes some of those we'd all be glad to see the back of. Someone somewhere must want them!
Ray-Von Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 NOTW reporting that Pompey are interested in Keith Andrews, who "has impressed in his first year in the Premier League." Do you want to tell them, or shall I?
philipl Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 This summer is going to be a case of hiding under the covers and seeing what happens for Rovers' fans. Favourites (if we hve any) are going to go, there is going to be wheeling and dealing and a fair amount of head scratching. At the end of it, all that matters is that Sam produces a competitive top half outfit again. whether it plays football or not will be in the lap of the Gods. PS The reason why I am looking at the gap to 11th and 12th on another thread is that coming 12th is worth £4m minimum more than coming 17th. Or Givet's transfer fee.
John Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I would not want to see Warnock leave. He has been inconsistent this season, but he is still one of our better players.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I don't want any of our more able players to leave either. Warnock has the ability to be no 2 to Ashley Cole in the England team, he's a much better defender than Wayne Bridge and almost as good going forward. However it was obvious to me that last years speculation about him moving on was only coming from either him or his agent. He's just the latest in a long line of players who've grown too big for their boots and want to move on to a " Bigger" club- David Bentley anyone ? As I said before, anybody who doesn't want to play from the team move them on, they're like a cancer in the club.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 You have to laugh though don't you. Were worried about how thin our remaining squad (after player contracts expire and regular injuries etc...) is going to be. So whats the answer to that... Ship out another one of our good players!! Someone needs to remind John Williams that we are still waiting for that "as good if not better" replacement for Bentley... If the board aren't prepared to back Sam into replacing those who leave this summer, and the positions that have troubled us this season. Our club has become a disgrace. Plain and simple... How the hell can the board expect us to maintain our position with no funding... If their is anyone from the board reading this, remember this club isn't going to be as attractive to takeover/investment if were staring relegation down the throat again next season...
nicko Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Here's a thought... You have to raise £4 million for Givet in a hurry. Do you have the money? Or do you have to sell? And if Warnock is your Player of the Year then I must have been at the wrong games...Samba HAS to get that surely.
broadsword Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 NOTW reporting that Pompey are interested in Keith Andrews, who "has impressed in his first year in the Premier League." Do you want to tell them, or shall I? Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 You have to raise £4 million for Givet in a hurry. A) Does that mean Sam is going to be given a transfer fund of £0 this summer? What happened to the TV money etc...? B ) Don't we get around that amount from the Walker Trusties. Or have they suspended it again? C) Add to this Derbyshire confirmed last night that he wanted out. I'd like to think we could get a good fee for him. Although i wouldn't want to see him leave...
Bobby G Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Warnocks one of those players who gives his all and Id like to keep him to be honest. Givet at left back gets exposed by pace a bit. I wouldnt be happy with Warnock out Givet in to be honest.

Agree,a realistic but still pretty depressing summary there Philip..........I just hope we can off load our Donkeys before our best players as we havent many good ones thats for sure! Thanks nicko, your ilk from the press planning to put the boot into Rovers early doors this time?.....Groundhog day anyone? **sigh**
Iceman Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Unbelievable! Can we not ship out Mokoena and move Warnock into midfield permanently as Dunn is constantly injured? Or move him to left wing, to challenge Morten? If we already having to sell our better players, just to raise funds to sign somebody else then we in big trouble yet again. I would rather have 2 better players than 1. If we dont have money, then we will probably have the same squad with a few freebies and a few in on loan.
Taggart Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Here's a thought... You have to raise £4 million for Givet in a hurry. Do you have the money? Or do you have to sell? And if Warnock is your Player of the Year then I must have been at the wrong games...Samba HAS to get that surely. If we sell Warnock this summer then its pure daftness and I will be disillusioned with the club, he, like Samba have had the fight and determination to perform consistently this season and we should not under any circumstances be selling these types of player, nor toying with the idea.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 No way. Givet is not mobile enough to be our regular left back. Hughesy Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I wouldnt mind us selling Warnock, but not for £1m clear with the Givet Deal. Warnock has to be worth around 7-8m not 5. Givet deal is set up for £3m (Maybe total of £4m if you include loan fee) Andrews - sell him for £3m and sign Sean Davis or Danny Murphy on a free.
John Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Arsenal to rival Liverpool and Blackburn for Senegalese striker to replace Adebayor
EwoodGlory Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I would rather Givet at left back than Warnock next season, but, surely we could get £6m upwards if Spurs and Villa are in for him. I would also have Samba as player of the season. No brainer I would have thought, but people go to more games than I do.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Warnock being one of the few players at the club I've got a high opinion of these days so would be considerably disappointed if he is traded to make way for other investments.
dopper69 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Givet + 1 million quid will be good business for a player who does not want to be part of the Rovers
DasGelb Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Givet + 1 million quid will be good business for a player who does not want to be part of the Rovers Warnock for 5 million is a disgrace. Look what overrated Bridge went for.
Backroom Tom Posted May 3, 2009 Backroom Posted May 3, 2009 Givet is a better left back than Warnock for me no doubt but selling him for that low would be a bad deal for us considering his versatility. Surely Sam is being given a budget but I can only imagine he has set some aside for someone, a midfielder hopefully.
Amo Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Like someone else said, why should we accept anything less than what Chelsea/Man.City paid for Bridge? £7-10m please.
