The change in management in Marseille means that the Givet situation will probably be reassessed. It means he will probably stay at Marseille I would imagine, but it isn't a certainty. Marseille have quite a few defensive options and have had one of the best defensive records in Ligue 1 this year and Givet is unlikely to be a starter even if he is kept by the club. I would say at this point he is unlikely to sign for us though, seeing as his signing shouldn't be seen as a priority and the price Marseille are willing to sell at may have just increased.

Quite happy with Emerton, Samba, Nelsen, Warnock anyway, I don't think that's a problem area for us at the moment. We'll probably need an extra squad player (preferably one who can play right/centre back) as Zurab and Olsson isn't really enough cover.

? You've lost me?? No issues with any of Vinjays posts as I can't see them thanks to info on how to ignore his posts. Do keep up new boy! Or are you him as well?

So your bashing him because of his reputation?

I'm confused, if you can't see Vinjay's posts then how have you quoted him? Do me a favour by the way. If your going to come out with lame accusations and childish digs. Please please please add me to your ignore list, as i know for sure that im going to add you to mine. I don't have time of day for people like you... :rover:

Well I don't see you making any attempts at new songs. Wonder why that is?

You've been following me all day??? Ever since you got the wrong end of the stick about an earlier post? What's up with you? Is it personal? Any Mods watching this stalker?

Is there even a rumour about Viduka? I'm sure someone just said they wouldn't be surprised if Sam tried to sign him. He's a bit like Roberts but without the pace, I can't see why Sam would bring him here.

My starting 11 for next year:

Robinson

Emerton Samba Givet Warnock

Pennant Emana Barton MGP

Sturridge Crouch

Givet (3million)

Pennant (free)

Barton(pretty much free)

Sturridge (bosman)

Crouch (8-10m)

Emana (7-9m)

something like that. 6 english players as well!

Flaming hell mate you're coming across as a right cock now, why don't you give it a rest?

Viduka has good feet, can finish, but is slow, lazy and often overweight. Sounds like one of our strikers, but not Roberts.

Wow, you actually think we'll have a 20M+ transfer budget? Too much Football manager for you. We won't sign Sturridge, Crouch, Pennant or Emana... nor am I optimistic we'll sign Givet.

Give it a rest! I read the forum like every member does, and if you don't think someones opinion is similar to yours, you debate against it. With you constantly having a go at a certain member, it is unfair. Therefore, I intervened. What's the harm in that?

Can't handle the heat, then don't go near the fire son!

Fair enough. I was making a looser comparison about them being good at holding the ball up with upper body strength and playing with their back to goal. I'm not sure if Viduka is lazy or whether his lack of mobility means it's a bit futile closing people down.

I think Sam took him to Newcastle to offer something different to Owen and Martins, I don't see the need for him here though.

Whatever happens this summer it will not be as bad as the last one. Unless we get relegated of course.

We need a clear out and have done for some time.

Last summer we lost 20 points by selling Bentley and Brad. We need to gain some points back.

The only people I'd like to stay:

Robinson

Nelsen

Samba

Pedersen (yes)

Emerton

The rest can go away. Time for a new era. I would love to sell Santa Cruz and sign Crouch.

Yeah its a bad disease mate, good looking team though! if we sell RSC and a few other imposters then we could probably raise close to 20million, and if the board had any ambition into us staying in the epl after next season we need to spend at least 20m in the summer with most of that obviously coming form rsc.

I was encouraged by big sam's interest in crouch in january. Sturridge and pennant are both going cheap but will have big wage demands, and emana is flat out brilliant!

Just out of interest who do you think we will look at for next season?

My squad for next season would be:

Robinson

Emerton Samba Nelsen Warnock

Bentley S.Davis Grella Brunt

Sturridge Benni

Brunt (2 million)

Givet (3 million) - Signed which would give us options at RB and LB

Bentley (7 million)

S.Davis (3 million)

Sturridge (bosman)

I would sell Roque Santa Cruz (£12m-£15m), Jason Brown (500k's?), Alan Judge (£1m?), Paul Gallagher (£1m-£2m) and Maceo Rigters (Sturridges taxi fair)

He's Australian, therefore it's fair to assume that he's lazy.

Being an FM-nut myself I know who I'd LIKE to see us sign, but in reality I think we'll be looking at bargain buys again. If we do sell RSC it won't be for anywhere near the 20M we might have got for him in january. Probably closer to 10-12M, with possibly a player swap involved if we deal with Spurs. Also, we won't get all of that money back for transfers... I think that's become obvious after the Duff and Bentley sales :(

I think we have a chance of bringing in Crouch, as Pompey's financial situation is dire, but I think the competition we face will knock us out of contention. I think Sturridge unfortunately considers himself above us, and would rather benchwarm at Eastlands than play for us. Barton's sadly a possiblity, though I really do hope we don't sign him. For a while I considered Darren Bent as a possiblity, but his goals at Spurs will probably see him stay there, now.

So much depends on RSC's sale, and the funds we're given, that it is truly difficult to speculate on who we can get in. My hopes aren't high, though. The one player I would love us to make permanent is Givet, as I think he's a class act and a solid defender. Once Emerton comes back from injury we'll have a solid back four, and will be looking to improving our Midfield and Forwards. Robbo is fine in goal, we don't need a replacement there.

One thing I'm sure of is that we will not have over 10M to spend, regardless of RSC's sale.

Come on guys, this isn't Football Manager. We'd have to double our wage bill and more than quadrouple our transfer budget to be able to afford even half of the players on these lists, and that's not even considering whether or not the players themselves would want to join.

I don't want Viduka. Years ago he was a great player, now he barely makes the first XI of a team destined for the Championship. He has no more than a year left in him and is on big wages. More importantly, Sam will go in for one big target man this summer and will, more than likely, blow the majority of our transfer budget on him. With that in mind, and the fact that we have Roberts tied down to a new contract and Samba who can cover when needed, I don't see us going anywhere near Viduka.

True... We can dream though... It's not like were going to end this season happy after the last 8 months of football. So why not get a little joy out of what could be...

..................Robbo

Emerton Samba Nelsen Warnock

..................Grella

..........Barton....Emena

....Diouf.....................Pedersen

..................Janko

Subs: Bunn, Zurab, [new def.], Dunn, Judge, Van der Meyde, Roberts

Something like that is about about as realistically optimistic as I can get right now. I'm certainly not expecting wholesale changes, simply because we can't afford it.

That team would have Emena and Janko as the signings funded by the sale of RSC. Barton would be nominal, Van der Meyde and the new defender on frees. The outgoings of Mokoena, Ooijer, Givet etc. would cover wages.

Well aware this is not Football manager, as another poster and I mentioned previously in this thread, merely speculation on Big sams shopping list for the summer. Every player who I mentioned has been linked to Blackburn Rovers before so not exactly fantasy land there.

The cost in wages, well lets see who's leaving in the summer(again speculation) RSC(60k), Ooijer(30k), Mokoena (20k), Gallacher(15k), Vogel already gone(15-20k), Brown(10k), Derbysyhire (25k) - 175k right there.

The transfer budget is something the board have to sort out if they have any ambition of staying in EPL after next year.

I dont want us any where near Viduka either!

Brown is being replaced by the Preston Both End Keeper - so his wage wont be a saving.

Also Gally is on £20k, RSC 65K, vogel was more than 20k too.

Add to that list probably Bunn, Simpson, Rigters, Tugay aswell. Easily saving around £250k per week in wages to give us room to work with.
