i seriously think RSC is not going anywhere.

and a big NO to bentley and viduka. Please do not get them anywhere near my beloved rovers again.

Barton would be something interesting - a way to make our club known and noticed, to even more people out there, and also he is really better then what we have now, thus its is a step forward. so there is no reason for us to stop ourself to move forward.

Apart from having a player suspended for half the season, and other members of the playing staff laid up with various injuries inflicted upon them on the training ground and/or parties by one of their team 'mates'.

Yep, Barton would definitely move us forward.

Depends what you want your club to be known for!

Also if I do not think that Barton will not become a fan favourite like diouf (for a start he's worse than Diouf and thats saying something) and will most likely become a hate figure much like he has become at Newcastle.

I agree, Barton is ten times worse than Diouf, he's an absolute thug who we don't want associating with our club.

I agree 100%. I would be ashamed to say I supported a club who employed him.

Exactly. Why should a guy who has been given so many chances for some many serious incidents be rewarded another chance to play in the Premiership? If some team in the Championship wants him, then he can go, but a thug like that, who constantly throws people's good will back in their faces, should not be allowed the privilege to perform at the highest level in the Premiership. He is obviously a complete scumbag, who happens to be good at football. Even then, he can't stay out of trouble and if he were to join Rovers, it would just be more of the same old antics and we will look stupid for giving him yet another chance.

If Barton was on a free transfer and we had something in the contract to protect ourselves against his behaviour then I could just about deal with that. Maybe being away from the pressures of a 'big club' (at least in the media's and delusional fans' eyes) might make his temperament easier to deal with.

That was my point too LeChuck.

If he is 'sacked' by the geordies we sign him on a free, give him a warning and add clauses into his deal - maybe even a pay as your play type deal and add penalties in their for any bad behaviour. We cant lose from the situation and if anything we gain a potential quality premier league midfielder.

We have signed enough bad boys in our time... yes this one has taken it a step further but im all for giving someone a chance at our club with a clean slate, just like Diouf, Savage, Todd, Bellamy etc.

We would be daft to pass up a free player of his quality.

Cant argue with Bartons view which riled Shearer.

He told Barton that his challenge was "a coward's tackle". Barton responded with a tirade of abuse that featured him describing Shearer as a "sh!t" manager with "sh!t" tactics.

The main difference betwen Barton and the traditional bad boys of football is that most of his antics are off the pitch.

Most of which would see an ordinary man in the street lose his job. He remains however a player who Allardyce signed and respects as a player.

At Newcastle Big Sam signed;

Viduka

Barton

Rozenhal

Geremi

Alan Smith

Cacapa

Enrique

Beye

Abdoulaye Faye

Ben Tozer

Apart from looking at Bolton players these are Big Sam players. Sam does seem to sign the odd player with a reputation.

He's not a "bad boy". He's a vile, pathetic criminal. The closest to him on the list above is Andy Todd - and he only ever got in to anything with grown men who had plenty of chance to defend themselves. Not that it makes it OK, but Barton's antics are far and away worse than Todds.

Barton has continually said that he's changed, and continually been shown up as a liar. He'll never change, we all know that, even entertaining the idea of signing him is ludicrous. Finances are tight, we can't afford risks like this.

 Looking at that list I think I'm quite relieved that he's not going to have any money to spend here.

I would be okay with us signing Barton under certain conditions.

a) We would have to have a release clause if he had behaviour problems after signing whether it be on or off pitch. Ie, he has problems, he's gone... No compensation at all. b ) It would have to be a free transfer. I would be furious if we spent money on him. c) he would have to take a heavily reduced wage until he sorted himself out... d) people might laugh, but he needs some form of counceling or anger management, this would be a condition of him signing too...

SkySports now linking us with Jonas Olsson: http://msnsport.skysports.com/story/0,1952...5287917,00.html

Jonas Ollson linked to Rovers on Sky, with several other clubs, so I guess the rule of three applies.

Is he better than what we have, at 26 he is certainly younger than nost of our CB's.

Not sure what WBA payed for him, he has one year to run on his contract.

Seen him in a couple of games on Sky this season, wouldn't say he stood out enough to be on BS shopping list.

Agree 100% with everything apart from this bit. Isn't it because finances are tight that we are looking at someone like Barton on a free? If we had money to spend we could be more picky about who we attempt to sign.

He is widely recognised as their best defender, which isn't much considering their defensive record. But many people see their slight upturn in form as a result of Ollson coming back from injury. Although I wouldn't want Big Sam to put too much effort/money into this one, I can't see it being a terrible buy.

That was my main point too. You dont often get quality for free, headcase or not.

I see that Sunderland isn't going to make Djibril Cisse's deal permanent.

I think he might a Samesque signing and (depends on the prize) think he would be useful in our squad next year. He will deffo add some needed pace up front.
