Mozzer Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 yeh i agree.i think getting villaneuva on loan for another year would be a really good idea.. it often takes foreign players a season to settle into a new country etc etc.. it will be a shame if we let this talented player leave-and even more a shame he if ended up at another premierleague club.. by the way-how is his english??

Hughesy Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Would be great if we could get him on another year long loan.
47er Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I'd check your fee; I think Nicko will put you straight on that one. Again you are been dogmatic- my point still stands, no manager has been allowed to spend anywhere near the income we have generted from the sales of our major players. Doesn't matter how wrong he is, in the end he grinds you down. He doesn't like boring football but he loves boring you to death.
Rover4ever Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Gudjohnsen is looking to return to the Premiership, dont see any of the Top 4 moving for him, doesnt he sound just like a Big Sam signing (just past prime, but has good fitness etc. )
philipl Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 There is an anticipation that Sam will gut the current squad and start again, not least because of the rumours of rows after defeats at Liverpool and Stoke. But it is worth pointing out that two professional managers- Hughes and Allardyce- have now consistently produced UEFA Cup-qualifying level of performances from what is basically the current squad of players over the past seasons.
American Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 That would be great if we could extend Carlos' loan, but for some reason I'm sceptical. The impression I have from Sam is that he recognises Carlos' technical ability, but doesn't think he has what its takes athletically for the league, otherwise he would have been given a bigger role already? Didn't he also say at one point he liked the effort that Carlos was putting in to improve his play?
duffbear Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 How do you get to speak to these guys? Are you in the media world? Next time could you ask Sam who is coming in next year? [/quote Hanged about outside the players entrance until 7pm until they had all came out
duffbear Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Forgot to add Sam said he is going to the Newcastle v Boro game to look at Martins and Habib Beye
philipl Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Forgot to add Sam said he is going to the Newcastle v Boro game to look at Martins and Habib Beye Another two reasons to want Boro to humiliate Newcastle tomorrow evening then. Both look to be busted flushes at present.
The Prof. Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Forgot to add Sam said he is going to the Newcastle v Boro game to look at Martins and Habib Beye Dunno about Baye but Martins was a pacy top player before hitting the Toon.

I'm pretty sure there'll be big changes in personnel at the club this close season. Sam's not a fool, he know's he's worked a miracle this season with an aging and injury prone squad but next season he may not be so lucky. The number of players we have that will be coveted by other clubs at our level tells it's own story. Samba, Givet, Warnock, Pedersen if they go off his distant past history, Derbyshire maybe. That's it. The rest would only interest lower clubs and not many at that. Stand by for an interesting summer.

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 He's had an up and down season but the usual suspects will come calling this summer, just wait and see.
Billy Castell Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 The summer will have lots of worries over Warnock, Samba and every other good player we have. Annoying but true.
alexanders Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Heard a interesting rumour that we had someone watching the West Brom vs Wigan game though. A player in particular. Don't know if you have heard anything about it Alan... Maybe you could check it out if i let you know the players name? Was it this guy ben? Chasing West Brom Star
broadsword Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 The summer will have lots of worries over Warnock, Samba and every other good player we have. That's not many to worry about then ...
Commondore Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Papertalk says Pompey want Andrews and Gallagher! http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...5308543,00.html
RoverRich Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Just seen on bbc gossip column that Huddlestone looks set to leave Tottenham in the summer and wants to stay in the premier league. Surely we should be in there for a player of his quality especially when losing a maestro like Tugay and his passing ability. He is young, talented and English but if Redknapp wants rid then he shouldn't cost too much. I would at least give it a go...
Lathund Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Haven't we talked about Huddlestone for about the last 5-6 windows now? Almost as long as the MGP to Spurs rumours have been around..
Ossydave Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 What's the point of extending the Villenueva loan when he barely features? Don't see how it's beneficial to either party to be honest.
Bobby G Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I think theres nothing in the Carlos extension. Its only come from one source as well.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Papertalk says Pompey want Andrews and Gallagher! http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...5308543,00.html I'd be inclined to let both go in that case. I'd be sorry for Andrews , he's one of the few players this season who has actually achieved his potential, trouble is he's just not at the level we need for an attacking midfielder. He's done his best in difficult circumstances, always played when and where asked without a complaint and generally been an asset to the club. The thing is we need to be looking at players with more creative ability in this position. Gallagher has had enough chances to make it at Ewood and he hasn't taken them. His best position is goal poacher and no team at our level can play with a system that would give the Gallagher's of this world a starting place. If that's really the level of Portsmouth's recruitment they must be in big trouble.
jny Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Papertalk says Pompey want Andrews and Gallagher! http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...5308543,00.html Swap for Crouch and Davis would be class + cash (although would never happen)
Hughesy Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Kellami, Sean Davis, Joey Barton & Pennant all on frees would improve our squad. Get Bent & Huddlestone for RSC. Would love the rumour that Sam was going to watch Martins to be true.

We can't sell midfielders - Mokoena is going, Tugay is going, Dunn and Reid are permanently injured, Grella is nearly as bad, Andrews is the only one who you can be reasonably be confident will be fit. Andrews will be a rovers player next year. Lets just hope he is on the bench!
