sean davis really impressed me yesterday , although players running out of contract will always try to impress i suppose won't they

as for andrews , he's took a lot of stick from rovers fans (not verbally at the ground but on forums such as this) but i thought yesterday was one of his best games , in fairness i still don't think he should be a "starter" , he's just not good enough but as a squad player , i would like to keep him

Kellami, Sean Davis, Joey Barton & Pennant all on frees would improve our squad. Get Bent & Huddlestone for RSC.

Would love the rumour that Sam was going to watch Martins to be true.

I promise you it is true but him watching him and being given the money to buy him is 2 difrent things entirely I asked Sam about money and said he is trying to get more money out of the chairman (which I think he has joked to the press bout previosly)

He has also been one of the better keepers in La Liga recently. "Free" just means no transfer fee, which in turn means the player can demand (and get) somewhat higher wages. There'll be competition for him, he'll command high wages and he'll not want to be a backup.

I'm all for competition, but it's not viable for a club like Rovers to pay £30k+ for two goalkeepers.

Forgot to add Sam said he is going to the Newcastle v Boro game to look at Martins and Habib Beye

Great two 30+ year olds!

The summer will have lots of worries over Warnock, Samba and every other good player we have. Annoying but true.

Not so worried about Warnock as long as Givet signs. I can see Samba drawing eyes, but I think he'll stay. Sam's already proven that transfers will be on our terms, and that he can resist selling if he has too. So I'm not too worried about rumours concerning our players this summer, as long as its more productive than last seasons. We won't get a bentley under Sam.

 Martins is 24.....

He is also on 70k a week or something I think. How could we afford that? Sort of player Everton or City will pick up if Newcastle go down.

I would take Beye in a flash though. Precisely what we need. Sure he is 31 but would make our back line very strong - especially if we do get Givet.

Blackburn scouts were in Egypt on Sunday night to check on ENNPI right-back Ahmed Al-Muhammadi. (Daily Mail)

Is Martins not the one that nobody knows his real age? Either way he is class and has real pace & power. City have bigger fish to fry, Everton - well they are always skint so they say......

How would people feel if we sold Warnock but then signed Beye & Givet?

If you watch Martins now, he has neither pace nor power.

Depends how good or bad Beye is. Givet would be great though. Not sure about these Egyptians though. The only Egyptians I know of, Mido and Zaki are both prima donnas whose lack of professionalism hinders their talent.

Mido does the crossbar challenge ... (2nd player in, bear with it ...)

edit - you have to click on Crossbar Challenge - Wigan, third option down on the left hand menu.

Our league record under Allardyce is P19 W7 D6 L6 PTS 27.

Our league record under Ince was P17 W3 D4 L10 PTS 13.

If we'd have had Allardyces points per game record all season we would have been 7th on 51 points. If we'd have had Inces points per game record all season we would have been bottom with 27 points.

Considering all the injuries we've had - I think Sam has done a remarkable job. It might not have been pretty, but if we got relegated we could have been the next Charlton, Southampton, Leicester or Leeds.

I think we're in need of a right-back to give Emerton some competition (though if Emerton gets over his injury I think him and Diouf could be a great team on the right). We also need a couple of non-crocked central midfielders, someone pacey to give MGP some competition and a striker to replace RSC. I'd also sign Givet permanently.

KEEPERS: Robinson, Bunn

DEFENCE: NEW RB, Emerton, Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Zurab, Warnock, Olsson.

MIDFIELD: Diouf, Doran, Grella, NEW PLAYMAKER, NEW BOX-TO-BOX MID, Andrews, Pedersen, NEW LEFT WINGER, Dunn, Reid, Judge

STRIKERS: McCarthy, Roberts, Derbs, NEW STRIKER

Ooijer, Mokoena, Tugay, Treacy, Gallagher, RSC, Rigters, Villanueva can all go and give a bit more room for movement on wages. I'd also let Reid and Dunn go if anyone would have them. Hopefully if we can get 13/14m for RSC from City - we should have a reasonable budget to improve the whole squad. I've a feeling we'll see Derbs too - so we're going to need two strikers, but I'd keep him as a super-sub myself.

IMO (what i think needs doing from your list):

KEEPERS: Robinson, Bunn

DEFENCE: NEW (BACKUP) RB LOAN?, Emerton, Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Zurab, Warnock, NEW BACKUP LB LOAN?

MIDFIELD: Diouf, Doran, Grella, NEW PLAYMAKER, NEW BOX-TO-BOX MID, Andrews, Pedersen, NEW RIGHT WINGER, Dunn, Reid, Villanueva (LOAN), HAWORTH

STRIKERS: McCarthy, Roberts, Derbs, NEW STRIKER

Ooijer, Mokoena, Tugay, Treacy, Gallagher, RSC, Rigters, Olsson, REID (release if fitness doesn't return), KANE (has struggled at Carlisle - 21), BRYAN HODGE (Off to Motherwell i believe)
