Hughesy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Our league record under Allardyce is P19 W7 D6 L6 PTS 27. If we'd have had Allardyces points per game record all season we would have been 7th on 51 points. 27 X 2 = 54 points

Bennisfromheaven Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 When you look at that you have got to agree with Sam in that the team is not getting the recognition it deserves!! If we continue in this way & are challenging for 5th & 6th spot i would not care abot the style of football, we cant expect any more with the money we spend!!
LeftWinger Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Hughesy - my calculations are based on 36 games. Ie. what position we'd be in now. Ben - Do you think we need another left-back? We've got Warnock, Givet can provide cover at centre-back and left-back, and as a last resort we've got Olsson. I think we're fairly well covered in defence if we sign Givet on a permanent deal. Just need a right-back to compete with Emerton.
rovers1993 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 u have the remember that they have been reports that we have to sell warnock in order to sign givet so we would have to sign another back up left back to challenge givet.. preferbly somoene in the price range of 1-2m so we dont waste too much money.

I dont get why we need to sell Warnock to buy Givet, if that was the case we wont be able to buy someone for 1-2m! Really wondering where all the money has gone, we havent spent the money that was promised over the last year! we are almost gaurenteed premier league football next year & an 11th place finish possible!?! why are we already worried that ther will be nothing in the summer??
Hughesy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 The board planned financially for a mid table finish, so 11th will be spot on.
OscarRaven Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I've a feeling we'll see Derbs too - so we're going to need two strikers, but I'd keep him as a super-sub myself. Without the prospect of regular first team football Derbyshire will not return.
Hughesy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Up to him to prove himself to big Sam in the next few weeks in training.
LeChuck Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 The board planned financially for a mid table finish, so 11th will be spot on. I really don't think we're going to finish 11th. We're not going to get anything next week, so really the most we can hope to finish on is 43 points. I don't think that would be enough, and it's not even certain that we'll beat West Brom - especially if they still have a chance of survival on that day.
Sparky Marky Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Or go and sign for the biggest club in Greece, nice weather, good money and the most fanatical fans you're likely to see.....

I agree we will lose at Chelsea, however im very confident we will beat West Brom at home. So 43 pts it is. Looking at the remaining fixtures. If Hull get something at the breezeblock & wigan take a draw at Stoke, then I think 12th is very realistic. And even 11th does not look beyond reach. Bolton v Hull Stoke v Wigan Arsenal v Stoke Man City v Bolton Wigan v Portsmouth
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 According to SkySports, we have had scouts taking a serious look at 25 year old Racing Santander striker Mohammed Tchite. He is from Burundi... According to SkySports Tchite, who has been plagued by several injury problems in recent times, only came on for the second half and was unable to prevent Racing from losing 1-0 to Malaga. Oh great. Just what we need, another liability...
LeChuck Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Good player, and very, very fast if I am thinking of the right man. He'd be an excellent signing.
Sparky Marky Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Is this a wind-up....Tchite....is that his name...???
AggyBlue Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Is this a wind-up....Tchite....is that his name...??? Pronounced SHYTE?
rovers1993 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 more of tchite in action. seems fast and can finish.
roversnick Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 i have a feeling big sam will go for cisse this summer sunderland dont want him
gumboots Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 i have a feeling big sam will go for cisse this summer sunderland dont want him and Marseille want 14 million don't they?
LeChuck Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 There are some quotes from Tchite on the rumours here. Although it's not exactly a 'come and get me' plea, he doesn't sound like he'd be against the idea if we made a move for him. I think signing a forward like him (small and fast) would go some way to calming fears over 'hoofball' carrying on into next season.
AggyBlue Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I think signing a forward like him (small and fast) would go some way to calming fears over 'hoofball' carrying on into next season. Exactly the opposite. That's the type of player you need to chase balls hoofed into the corners.
T4E Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 It gives far more options. Bellamy ran the channels a fair amount when he was here but you'd hardly call the football we were playing then "hoofball". Infact it was some of the best football we've played in recent years.
LeChuck Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Exactly the opposite. That's the type of player you need to chase balls hoofed into the corners. We haven't done anything like that this season though. Our style of play would naturally change drastically if we had someone like him up front instead of Samba and McCarthy.

See Liverpool kick it for Torres or chelsea for drogba? If it's hit forward to the run of a striker that's surely great play.
