 So did you watch him then??? The only player of real class on the pitch

Also did anyone see Sam there?

u can tell looking at martins face he's way older than 24, looks like skeletor for god's sake....avoid, is'nt kanu in his forties and claims to be 34 or something when he's been around forever.............remember champions league games when deportivo kept qualifying they had some brazilian in midfield and the commentators regularly said no one knows how old he is, always guessing mid forties.

It's a bit unfair to assume that everyone from Egypt will act like those two! Don't forget that strikers are far more prone to being that way than players in other positions.

They're not the only Egyptians in the league by the way, Mohamed Shawky has been at Boro since 2007 and started the game last night. He seems to work hard and I haven't heard any stories about him being moody.

Both very moody too! Couldnt be doing with a spoilt brat who kicks off every time he is subbed.

Remember Hossam Ghaly's showing when he was subbed at Ewood? Must be something in the water.

The more I think about it, the more excited I am about seeing what Sam does over the Summer. He's a very inventive thinker when it comes to transfers, we may just see one or two surprising arrivals which hopefully send us all in to the new season with a spring in our step.

4 or 5 signings for Sam.

Allardyce has already revealed he expects four or five changes in his squad this summer and has scouts scouring far and wide for potential bargains .

"A routine board meeting will be held at Ewood today where a list of other preliminary targets are expected to be discussed, with some current players’ futures also up for debate.

Aaron Mokoena and Andre Ooijer seem certain to quit East Lancashire, along with the retiring Tugay, while Carlos Villanueva is expected to return to parent club Audax Italiano after his season-long loan spell.

Decisions also have to be made on strikers Matt Derbyshire and Paul Gallagher, with both wanting an exit for regular football.

Racing Satander striker Mohammed Tchite has been linked with a summer move to Ewood, while Rovers are unlikely to follow up their previous interest in Egyptian winger Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, after watching him on trial earlier this season. "

If in fact we are signing 4 to 5 players, then I would say a starting right back, a starting central midfielder, a pacy left or right winger, a pacy starting striker as well as one more striker, someone in the Roberts/Roque mold to hold up the ball.

I believe all of the above should be starters and not squad purchases.

I also think it might cost in the region of 20 million pounds to sign them, if not slightly more.

2 strikers - if RSC & Derbs both go.

Givet

2 midfielders - Tugay, Mokoena, Vogel all gone.

Right back - id be happy to cover that with the players we already have. I think Emerton & Diouf could work a very good partnership on the right next season.

Emerton?

I agree with needing a central midfielder, maybe 2 if we can get one on the cheap (Davis? Murphy?).

Probably need to spend around that sort of amount to fully strengthen. i'll be surprised if we spend more than £5 mill.

Well if the 5 out are say - Ooijer, Mokoena, Tugay, Santa & say Gally

We would need - A new Right back to compete with Emerton, a new central midfielder, a new striker, Givet, plus unfortunatly i think the board & Sam might see Reid coming back as a new signing.

As someone said on another thread, i can see Samba being used as a forward next season should injurys happen to Benni, Roberts, New Striker or Derbyshire.

People are banking on Roque going, i'm not sure thats for definite (can't see Hughes being at City next season) and if he does go it will be for half of what we were expecting in January. When you figure out what it will cost to sign Givet we won't have much left to buy 4 or 5 quality players (unless we find a hidden gem or two).

If we have a limited budget, which i fully expect then i want the area that needs strengthening more than anything sorted out and thats clearly the central midfield.

I'd agree, we desperatly need some quality in that midfield.

I think it is likely Roque will go, but like you say its by no means certain.

I wouldnt mind having a fully fit Roque still at Rovers come the end of August thats for sure.

Its difficult -

He stays - then its a big boost to the quality of our front line, however where does the money come from to strengthen?

He goes - then we are hopefully at least £12m richer and can build a much stronger squad.

Suppose it depends on our Trust.......

Keep in mind that any deal for Roque is likely to be in instalments especially if Spurs are involved (they are renowned for it) and because of Roque's injury plagued season and previous history at Bayern.

It was reported in January in some of the papers that even City’s bids for Roque involved payments over a period of time and wasn’t the full cash up front.

This sounds far-fetched but I'll re-iterate it - I think the Trust recognises that if they don't spend £20m or so on our squad then there will be no Premier League Rovers by this time next season.

Disagree with you 100% and so do the stats. Big Sam has 27 points in 19 games with his CURRENT squad and that is short of Emerton, Reid, Dunn, RSC etc.

The current squad would not get relegated unless it was under poor leadership (i.e. Ince).

So its not as life and death as you think as far as the trust would look at it.

Most clubs pay transfers in instalments - its normal and its what we would do if we bought a replacement for RSC.
