I hear Givet is very much on...

Didn't mention that yesterday because I was saving it for the day job.

Where the hell is Warnock going?

Again. Don't get this. If Warnock is out the door, then why are we using him as our main marketing tool at the moment for the launch of next seasons merchandise. It doesn't make sense that we would be advertising next years merchandise on a player who isn't even going to be here to wear it...

I think Warnock is probably sponsored by Umbra...thats why he is kitted out head to toe

Still the concept of a squad eludes Rovers supporters.

Sam has talked about having 18 frontline professionals- if that is his plan ALL 18 have to be of the standard of Givet and Warnock which means that 7 of them start on the bench each week.

Sam must fancy a highly defensive backline if he wants Givet to stay and Warnock is out of the door, Givet just isn't the attacking type.

Bringing in Givet and selling Warnock looks a stupid move IMO. Bringing Givet and Keeping Warnock as well is what we should be doing.

But as you've guessed we are skint, the board aren't going to fund Big Sam and its clear he has to sell in order to buy. Its looking like another survival battle again next season if all these teams around us spend some serious cash this summer and spend it wisely.

In the Telegraph tomorrow:

We are apparantly after Bojan (Yes the Bojan, Barca Striker) on loan for next season. I very much doubt he's even heard of us!

Will Sam be dusting off his top hat and cane in preparation for this signing, I wonder?

'Mister Bojan-gles, Mister Bojan-gles

Mister Bojan-gles, come back and dance. And dance. And dance. Please dance'.

Worth signing just for the post-match cabaret...

£4 million for a defender we don't desperately need (at least not in first eleven terms) is a lot for a club in our position.

I'll have to wait to see who else is brought in before deciding whether that's a wise move or not. If end up not having funds for at least two midfielders and a quality striker I believe it will be a mistake.

With Rovers already knowing the price before a loan deal. I wonder if there is a chance they set aside the money in the first place. In which case we might be spending some of this seasons budget on him instead of next seasons.

It looks like a fairly simple one if the figures being stated are correct - Warnock out, Givet and £3m in. Thats good business surely?

Him let the best defender at the club go or sign him for 4 million, not a hard desison.

i think we need to add Givet - solid indeed , but we must also retain Warnock as he has also been solid ! Would rather Pedersen left than Warnock !

Surely Givet can be funded from the sale of the so called fringe players.

Treacy, Gally and Derbs, there must be 5m there plus Givet's wages.

Did sam not mention the other day that some players had been told they where staying, or words to that effect.

I think we do need him.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Nelsen has looked much better with Givet at fullback.

Warnock goes walkabout too much and leaves our left flank exposed.

Givet is a defensive fullback, he doesn't offer anything in terms of attack. If Givet is the starter next season then we need to bring in a new left winger that will run and take on defenders as he won't overlap.

I'd rather we sold Pedersen than Warnock, i think Warnock could do a better job on that left wing.

The thing with Givet is he wasnt really a left full back until he came here was he? Wasnt he a more natural centre back but can play anywhere across the back. I think he will be a great addition to the squad for 4 million.

 He's always been a LB/LWB?

According to the Daily Mail. Santa Cruz is at the top of Spurs wanted list, and Sam is interested in a player plus cash deal involving Darren Bent coming to Rovers...

I'd be more than happy to have Darren Bent here, he has alot to offer and just doesn't get a chance at Spurs. Even if we only got a few extra £ for Rocky, at least it would put an end to his Rovers stay.

agree totally i think Darren Bent would do a great job at Rovers, he is a very good player, he just needs a run of games, which he has not been getting at Spurs.

I think they might be some more bigger clubs in for him this summer though!!

If we could sell Warnock for £7 million then yeah, I guess so. I was working on the assumption that Warnock would stay...we'd have to sign another player capable of playing left back if Warnock did move on, unless Sam things Olsson is up to the job, but there's no indication of that so far.

I just think we'd be stronger with a back four of Emerton Samba Nelsen Warnock and a new £4 million central midfielder than any combination of back four including Givet but no new midfielder.

I'm not saying it's a bad move yet, if Sam finds a way of adequately filling the gaps elsewhere then I'll no complaints at all as Givet is a very good player.

Darren Bent + Cash for Roque?? Bent + £7m would be great business please......

SNAP their hands off!! Get it done today, get rid of that money grabbing tw@t and get our transfer kitty sorted.

In a way - I agree with the idea of Givet rather than Warnock - See if you agree with me.....

Maybe Sams plan with the back 4 is that we are too attacking as a defensive unit with both Emerton & Warnock in (which i agree with 100%).

So therefore the plan is Emerton - Samba - Nelsen - Givet. With only Emerton bombing forward and supporting Diouf. Also if we have a solid left back who doesnt attack, we give Pedersen more freedom to get forward and get back to the player he was 3 seasons ago!?! If we can make a decent profit from the Warnock out - Givet in deal then I say lets do it!!

Kevin Nolan aint doing much at Newcastle. No one seems to like him but I think hes a bargain to be had who might do a good job and even become captain under Sam..Reckon the soon to be relegated Boro or West Brom. have one or two decent players also

Hmm... Interesting:

I don't think Grella will be going anywhere and we can't afford to bring in another DM 12 months after buying him...it looks like (if he stays fit) he'll be good enough anyway.

--------------Robinson-------------

--Seitaridis-Samba-Nelsen-Givet--

Diouf-Emerton-Grella-Gamst

I quite like that...surely there would be funds to add more quality to the midfield too, we'd need another central player and another wide player I think.

Having said that though, I really don't think we'll be playing 4-4-2 next season. We're not even playing it now, Sam himself said it's 4-4-1-1. If Sam gets the quality of striker he wants I fully expect a return to the 4-3-3 he favours.

With 3 solid Defensive players - Gamst now allowed to attack more. It looks much improved already if you ask me.

Just need to sort that hold in the middle. Grella will be the Defensive midfielder.
