Hughesy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I must admit that despite any negativity around the manager - Im far more impressed in his transfer targets than I have been with any of our past managers for some time.

doctorryan Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Mostly 4-4-2 when I've seen them Alan. With him and MGP on the pitch at the same time it could give Sam some fun options to use to confuse the opposition.
bennyboyt11 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Interesting...is that in a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2? Nicko any rumblings around RSC, as in does anyone appear to still want him?
Lurid Coat Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Also, for those interested, here's a comprehensive list of all players who will be available on a free transfer this summer, from all the major leagues: http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/vertragsend...alle/index.html Some real gems to be found there, such as Pantelic, Oddo, Sanogo, Madlung, Cissé, Sean Davis, Danny Murphy, Nikola Zigic, Kameni, Pablo, Santana, Almiron etc.
Bobby G Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Some great free's out there. For me Davis as a defensive midfielder stands out, Sanogo as a striker, Kameni as a keeper, and Santana as a winger.

Lurid Coat has found Big Sam's shopping list...
mckenny16 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 It says that Darren Gibson's (Man Utd) contract is up. I would think he's worth signing up. One for the future, young and has a good long shot on him.
kandi Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Some great free's out there. For me Davis as a defensive midfielder stands out, Sanogo as a striker, Kameni as a keeper, and Santana as a winger. Sanogo is a Werder Bremen player,he is at Hoffenheim on loan and will go back to Werder.
Lurid Coat Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Ouch, yeah. That page also lists players whose loan contracts are expiring, so the list might seem slightly more interesting than it is in reality.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Daniel Sturridge still hasn't agreed a new contract with Manchester City, and could still be available on a free transfer. With all the big names City are likely to purchase. I could see him being a brilliant 3rd striker maybe even a replacement for Matt Derbyshire should he leave? Nicko, is their a possibility Sam could be interested? He must of been impressed with his performance when City came back from 2 nil down a while back?
Hughesy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Bigger fish to fry with Villa & Everton likely to move for him?!

Sam is interested in Sturridge - and was in January. But the boy thinks he is going to Chelsea. If they give him a custard pie that situation might change obviously.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Shame. Chances are, he would be swapping one teams bench/reserves for another... His career could push forward so well if he came to Rovers... Have you read the 'John Williams wanting £20 million for Roque' story this morning Nicko in the Daily Mirror Soccer Spy. It actually had me laughing out loud. I'm guessing you didn't write it??

deryck guyler's spoon Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Read it. Wrote it. That is the fee that the club want...not budging I am told. No chance. Surely?
Bobby G Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Oh yes....I like that. Time the club won out over the player for once. I just hope teams dont leave it till late August to seal a deal with him.
broadsword Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Spurs want him, City want him and Liddypewl want him, so there's a chance there could be an auction.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Anybody prepared to part with 20 mill for an injury prone one season wonder needs to have their bumps felt. Seriously.
nicko Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 No chance. Surely? I don't think there is any chance they will get £20 million either. But there's no point in weakening. Would be glad to be proved wrong on the chances of getting the money in full...and happier still if it was settled quickly.
broadsword Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Crazy since we only paid 3.5 mill for him, but that's football ...
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Read it. Wrote it. That is the fee that the club want...not budging I am told. Is it not possible that we are trying to big up his price in terms of part exchange. I mean it would make sense if we were looking to exchange him say for: Liverpool - Ryan Babel (Liverpool want rid) plus cash Man City - Jo or Sturridge plus cash? Arsenal - Nicklas Bendtner plus cash? Spurs - Bent plus cash?
Backroom DE. Posted May 15, 2009 Backroom Posted May 15, 2009 If anyone pays 20M for Roque they are idiots. If we reject a bid 15M or above for Roque WE are idiots.
brfc4ever Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Arsenal - Nicklas Bendtner plus cash? Being danish, it would be great to see a danish player at the club. But Nicklas thinks way to much of himself. I doubt he'd come, and i doubt he'd stay very long. He is kindda like Bentley at he's worst. That said, he does have great potential.
67splitscreen Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 If someone want's to pay 20m for RSC, they obviously see him as an improvement on what they already have and stacks of potential. Fools. Who are we to question there wisdom. As they say, We'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
