Crouch would be a waste of money....we've got Samba for all that malarky and he's better on't floor....Crouch is ok against 2nd rate defences....if you look at his england goals, they're all against questionable sides.......in the premier league it's different...every week you're up against top quality...

For what he'd cost and his wages, no chance!!! :rover:

I'd like to see adam johnson(boro), ishmale miller(wba), perhaps huddleston in roque part-ex, pennant.

That would do me..

What a load of rubbish. Most international sides England play against are 2nd rate, apart from occasionally one sde better than them in the qualifiers, the odd friendly where new players get tried out and one or two games once every two years at a major tournament. His last two goals have come vs Croatia and Ukraine - hardly bad sides. And if you honestly think Samba is better on the floor going forward than a man with a pretty damn good goalscoring record in the league (see the previous thread) you really do need your eyes tested...

Did you see him at Ewood for the Pompey game?

Crouch never plays well against us. It could also be said that he is playing in a team that offers him very little in terms of creativity and chances, yet he still has a record at just over a goal every other game(according to the above stats)

I wonder how much of Roque's injuries this season have been down to the tender mercies of Meester Ince?

If you don't get properly fit pre-season then get injured, I should imagine it's a proper sod to get injury-free again, even if the manager improves.

Hughes will look at what cruz did for him when he was at Rovers and was able to keep him fairly injury-free.

What about the other 4/5 seasons he's been crocked?

Like all the other seasons Bellamy has been crocked but we kept him fitter than most. I don't know if anyone else will be intereested but Tottenham Spurs are convinced that he could be good for them despite having got their fingers burnt over Bentley, so perhaps we can get a decent fee for him. Perhaps not the huge 20 million some would like but still good enough.

That is the fee that the club want...not budging I am told.

He'll be a Rovers player next season then if that 's the case. Quite the opposite to T4E I think the best possible scenario for us would be to have him still here and fully fit and motivated on Sep 1st. (unlikely granted)

Well done Sam and the Club. You want him, you pay the asking price, otherwise **** off!.

As far as possible replacements go, I've never been completely convinced by Crouch, I think Bent would be a much better signing. Still only 25 and his stats are a lot better than I thought they would be - he's scored roughly a goal every other game in 203 games at Ipswich, Charlton and Spurs - 98 I think it is.

Jesus. If someone offers us £15 million we should bite their hands off.

If we cleared 15m I would have thought that would be acceptable but he might start playing silly buggers and demanding 3m or 5m of the 15m as well etc.

Personally I'd rather take 14 million and and keep all off it than take 20 million and give him 5 of it.

He'd be lucky to get a tenner loyalty bonus for me.

It's a shame as previously I had massive respect for him as well.

I agree with Rev on RSC.

A simple question- who being realistic is the best CF we could see at Rovers at the start of next season?

Answer- RSC.

I'd prefer Benni, a man with more than one good season in his entire career under his belt, and who has been in much better form this season, than RSC.

That's relative to a man who hasn't played because of injury.

Benni McDonald's has been in shocking form for most of this season.

This season in the league:

Roque: 17(3): 4

Benni: 17(9): 10

Then look at Roques record for the rest of his career before that season. It doesn't make for great reading.

Off the top of my head Marc Janco, Darren Bent, Edin Dzeko...

Some may argue that it would be easier to keep Roque and run with him next season. Personally, i think it would be easier in the long run to get rid of him now and look to the future.

Nobody wants a disruptive, big-mouthed, self opinionated, selfish, wash-and-go styled footballer at the club. Especially one who doesn't want to be playing for us, and wants a move asap...

If he stays, we might as well open a Lancashire district Paraguayan radio station for his weekly broadcasts... <_<

Right and so where did Santa Cruz figure into that equation before he signed for 3.5 million? Or Benni for a similar fee? Or Bellamy? We passed up Dzeko in January and he's now one of Europe's top prospects. The sooner we get rid of this crocked ass of a player the better. I don't want anyone at my football club talking about how much he wants to leave; I wouldn't care if it is Keith Andrews or Pele and I especially don't care when the player can't even make it on to the pitch for one of our most important run-ins of recent times.

How do you describe Santa Cruz then? A fat Benni has looked ten times the player.

Sorry to go back a bit here, but what's this about Rothen? He was brilliant that season when Monaco reached the Champions League final a few years ago, but haven't heard about him since. Is there a fee rumoured to be needed, and what sort of form has he been in over the last season or so?

Rothen has been pretty much ever-present for PSG since he moved here in 2004, but he hasn't exactly been spectacular. He's been a mediocre player in a side that has, for most of that period, been mediocre (and sometimes worse) in Ligue 1. As a squad player in the premiership? Perhaps. He'll never be anything more than that.

If we can find the right partner for Benni and get him fit and motivated then he is an incredible asset and goal scoring machine.

We have him on the books already - unfortunately being able to do all of Benni's running and keeping centre-backs occupied is balanced by him not being able to hit a barn door himself.

Interesting rumour/piece of news i have just heard. Matt Derbyshire has apparently gone on Olympiakos's post season tour of Vietnam?

Don't know if Nicko can confirm this? Seems rather strange??

Also hearing that a possible transfer is being haggled over, a fee of between 3 and 4 million being talked about...
