sussexrover Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Can add Tugays wages to that - and possibly Rigters too (assuming Barnsley aren't already paying them). Should be easy enough to save that sort of sum, but as Nicko says doesn't leave a huge amount of room for new signings.

Should be easy enough to save that sort of sum, but as Nicko says doesn't leave a huge amount of room for new signings. Correct...my mistake. How much have we saved by getting rid of Vogel? Also, can't help but wonder whether getting rid of S.Reid makes more sense now... The club wouldn't dream of treating Reidy like that. After all he was injured while trying to get fit. A good type, who has just been unfortunate.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Fair enough. But i would have thought another 6 months of injury would put pay to Reidy's hopes of staying at the club, we can't afford to be sentimentle. Nicko, who was the free transfer you were talking of the other day? Can you clarify the Tyrone Mears story also? Is their anyone else you know us to be looking too? Would hope we would be looking at our midfield as well as defence...
Mozzer Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 the player who rovers went to watch in france but would of came away disappointed was Modeste M'Bami-hes apparntly available on a free... sean davis has rejected portsmouth's contract offer-he would be a good signing in my opinion... maybe sell grella if this happens-could get a fee, plus i bet hes on a fair bit of money..
riverside returns Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 SIMPSON - £1m OOIJER - £1.5M VILLANUEVA - £500K MOKOENA - £1.1M DERBYSHIRE - £1.1M GALLACHER - £1.1M Rigters - £0.8M Tugay - £1.5M Vogel -£1m Total is £9.6M and then take off the wages paid to Santa Cruz £3.1M it is reasonable to cut the wage bill by £5M

It is so depressing and I cant help but think where the MINIMUM £40 million pounds ends up each season from the premier league?
koi Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I doubt they'll cut the wages too much - just sounds like gamesmanship too me.

I find Tyrone Mears a bit hard to believe.
Mozzer Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 another person mentioned andy van der meyde-and that he was training with us for a week-anything?? is the free player who we are looking at sean davis or this Modeste M'Bami who didnt play tho??

It is so depressing and I cant help but think where the MINIMUM £40 million pounds ends up each season from the premier league? My point exactly. we may as well give up now. The trust wont give any transfer money; yet now we are expected to cut our playing staff wage bill by 15%. This is in light of this seasons relegtion scrap- which is as much the fault of a lack of investment as it was Ince's poor management. Furthermore, we made a profit of 7 million last year- this was without the money recouped from the Bentley transfer! Remember the figure we pick-up from the sky deal alone will be around 45million this season.

M'Bami was the player Sam went to see who did not play. Sean Davis's agents are hawking him everywhere. OK player. Big medical... Van der Meyde? I sincerely hope not.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Isn't at least one of Jason Brown and Mark Bunn leaving in the summer? Probably not more than £1m off the wage bill but every little helps..
nicko Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Isn't at least one of Jason Brown and Mark Bunn leaving in the summer? Probably not more than £1m off the wage bill but every little helps.. If one goes another one will have to come in...need three for a Premier League squad.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 If one goes another one will have to come in...need three for a Premier League squad. Robinson Bunn Brown Fielding Bussmann I'm guessing Fielding will move on but if things are tight on the wage bill surely a total unknown will 'do' as a third choice keeper? I know Robbo is slightly more likely to miss a game or two than Brad was, but the odds of our third choice keeper ever seeing the ball are still slim, surely.
Iceman Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 If the trustees are not willing to invest, why not try harder to find a buyer for the club. To cut the wage bill by 5mill, means we would have to let players go and try and sign players who wouldnt get paid much. Our squad needs strengthening, and to do this we will need to bring in quality that wont come cheap.
tony gale's mic Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Somewhere in Lancashire, Vinjay's ears are burning.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Something doesn’t add up here. The club wants to cut its wage bill to 34/35 million per annum- yet turnover will still be around 55 million (largely due to the massive amount of cash it pockets from SKY). Last financial year, the club made a 7 million profit on a 7th placed finish – with a wage bill of 39 million. I am lead to believe that prize money has increased slightly from last season- meaning that in real terms their isn’t much difference between a 7th placed finish & finishing 12-14th this season ( perhaps 2 million less). Therefore, Sam will not be given any new finance (just money recouped from sales of players) yet he has got to slash 15% off the playing staff’s wages- this is an incredible statement. Given the fact that the trust are equally to blame for this seasons brush with relegation – they know appear to be moving the goalposts yet again. When will these supposed business people learn?
Hughesy Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I was trying to work that bit out...these are estimates. SIMPSON - £600K OOIJER - £1.5M VILLANUEVA - £500K MOKOENA - £1.3M DERBYSHIRE - £800K GALLACHER - £500K That is £5M plus...but six players down. GIVET will probably pick up about £1.7M, which makes WARNOCK leaving more likely. He will be on £1.5M or so. So, like the transfer fee kitty, the big issue is going to revolve around ROQUE [£2M] going. Gallagher is on 20k a week, so id expect Derbs to be on a very similar - so id put them both at £1m a year. So that takes it to £6m total. Add to that list Vogel, Tugay, Rigters - thats just to start with. RSC £3M+ in wages. Sell Roque for say £15m, Derbyshire for £4m. Dont worry lads, its time our squad was culled of the dead wood anyway. Some of them are paid far too much for what they do for us!
American Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Correct...my mistake. The club wouldn't dream of treating Reidy like that. After all he was injured while trying to get fit. A good type, who has just been unfortunate. Any word on if insurance is helping defray any of Reid's wages?
G Somerset Rover Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Another Nicko story in the People is that Tugay may yet carry on next season...but at QPR.
ABBEY Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I was trying to work that bit out...these are estimates. SIMPSON - £600K OOIJER - £1.5M VILLANUEVA - £500K MOKOENA - £1.3M DERBYSHIRE - £800K GALLACHER - £500K......WHO????????????????????????? That is £5M plus...but six players down. GIVET will probably pick up about £1.7M, which makes WARNOCK leaving more likely. He will be on £1.5M or so. So, like the transfer fee kitty, the big issue is going to revolve around ROQUE [£2M] going. I wouldn't get too distressed about it, but it's going to be hard work for all concerned and there is little room for error.

Fylde Coast Fan Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 The club has operational running costs ie stadium/pitch maintanance etc. Legal costs. Loans. Travel expenses per season including tours. Staff wages. Merchandise outlay. Reserve and acadamy expenses including using Christie Park etc... If the club can get to a position where 17th place in the league is enough to break even then surely we become more appealing to potential buyers - totally self-sufficient but the option is there to invest in the transfer market if you want.
Dunnfc Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Possible options: Albin Ebondo - Answer to our prayers for a RB. Stephanie Mbia - The new Vieria. Jerome Rothen - If true is a dream signing to give MGP a kick up the ass. Mido - Know for a fact BFS tried getting him at Bolton twice. 99.9 % of you hate him but he's the perfect target man. Carlos Kameni - Need i have to say? Javier Flano - RB who's on a free. Milan Jovanovic - Pacy serb striker for Standard Liege. Simon Vukevic - Plays at sporting lisbon either at lw or in the hole, better than carlos and probably would cost as much as him at 5 mill. Aly Cissokho - LB at Porto, looks a good yound prospect and would be a good option if Warnock and Givet both went. Sidney Govou - Fast RW at Lyon, looks to be out the door in the summer, wouldn't cost a bomb, worth a look at imo. Sylvain Monsoreau - Very much like Givet, he's a cb and a lb. Bafetimbi Gomis - Should RSC leave and to Tchiate, this guy is hopefully on the list. Fast, big and strong, but can finish.
