This is all making me feel better about next year. Is it a slackening of the purse strings or Sam smooth talking - We seem to be establishing ourselves in the hierarchy again after a couple of years in the doldrums.

Rudi Skacel has just been released by Southampton. Could be worth a bid on a two year deal. Did well at Hertha Berlin. Southampton can't afford his wages. Could be a good LB/LM option?

Ill assume the reason why where needing to take 5m off the wage bill is because the new strikers wage demands are around 5m a year :rolleyes:

Well he's obviously not a 'League One' player if Soton have had to release him as they can't afford to have him at that level. He's played for Slavia Prague, Marseille, Panathinaikos and Hertha Berlin..? He's also played Internationally for the Czech Republic...

No way a League one player...

Skacel will be 30 when next season starts, and he's still not sure of his best position.

Decent enough player, but not good enough to improve us.

Anyone think we could make a move for John Utaka? He would give us some pace and energy up front. Can't take a penalty for love nor money, but we can work around that. :lol: I'm not sure how much Pompey would want though, considering they signed him for £7m.

No way a League one player...

Well, they released everyone whose contract ended. He didn't make it at Marseille, was loaned out to Panathinaikos, who didn't want to sign him permanently. Soton loaned him out to Hertha, who didn't want to sign him permanently either. Last competitive international match is from first half of this decade and even the Soton fans don't want him. Not in the league of players we should be looking into, even if he's only "worst team of Championship -player" instead of League One -player.
