philipl Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I skimmed the site and didn't spot Rovers v Huddersfield today. Bucky might care to look at "what do you do" on ICBINF. My gripe about Football Manager is not about the calibre of its database, more that in reducing a complex industry to what is essentially a simple game played around some pretty powerful mathematics generating the outcomes, it distorts the game-players' views of football realities. The massive costs of transfer transactions (time and disruption as well as cash leakages) are not adequately represented which is why we get the sell these 6 players and buy those 7 type comments posted from time to time. FM players are no doubt chewing their keyboards in frustration over the extreme absence of business done by PL clubs nearly halfway through this window. And presumably FM has something to do with those who backed Ince way beyond any point of reason or intelligence.

bellamy11 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 And presumably FM has something to do with those who backed Ince way beyond any point of reason or intelligence. So aside from the usual suspects (the board, Ince and his cronies themselves), you're adding people who play FM to your list of people responsible for Ince's mis-management of the club, which already extends to everybody who went to the Liverpool home game. Anybody else to blame?
Billy Castell Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Lord Lucan, Tony Blackburn, David Hasselhoff and Wonder Woman had a part to play in Ince's reign of terror.
nicko Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I think this means 'done deal' in French...from L'Equipe. Anigo a par ailleurs confirmé que le prêt de Gaël Givet à Blackburn était «en voie de finalisation»
BuckyRover Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I understand what you are saying. But can you explain how the school children saying "sell these 6 players and buy those 7" is related to the vast amount of world scouting knowledge in the football manager database. This is more to do with said persons analytical and interpretational skills. You have to be an idiot if you cannot make the distinction between football manager and reality. Just because some people make these stupid comments does not mean that everybody who uses football manager is an idiot. I have already said it can be used as a scouting tool, not on its own. The fact that Everton have recently paid £30k for the database, would indicate that I am not alone in my thinking. I refrain from making these suggestions as I realise you need more than football manager knowledge to decide whether to buy a player or not. I have only said after we have been linked with a target, whether or not he is any good in football manager. I am not recommending signings based solely on football manager. There is a big difference. Also, I would suggest that you are wrong about Ince. In all other previous versions of Football manager Ince was a rubbish manager. In the new one he is quite good, but the game didn't come out until November and most people had already made up their minds. I still don't believe his ability (or inability if you prefer) has been proven beyond doubt. Quite a few managers have failed once or twice (Sam Allardyce for one). One more point, the fact that in my current game I already have playing in my team quite a few players that we are supposedly interested in (Fernandez, Saivet, Chretien etc. etc.), suggets that I am not the only one playing football manager.... Maybe it is how Sam unearths his gems, afterall he loves ProZone (and I know the haphazard way that was developed)
DanLad Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Lord Lucan, Tony Blackburn, David Hasselhoff and Wonder Woman had a part to play in Ince's reign of terror. Lord Lucan was to blame for players going missing. Tony Blackburn was brought in for his local knowledge The Hoff - Kit man, clearly. Wonder woman - Dunno...
Bazrakats Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Anigo a par ailleurs confirmé que le prêt de Gaël Givet à Blackburn était «en voie de finalisation» i think that means its being finalized
bennyboyt11 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 On the football manager front Paul Ince took the 2011 post of England Manager and is still in charge in the my current 2013 savepoint

He is like a dog with a bone and will come back repeating the same drivel whatever you post. If you carry on quoting him I finish up reading his bleatings anyway.
CAPT KAYOS Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Wonder woman - Dunno... leave my Mrs out of this ... my backing of Ince was all of my own doing (in case of misunderstanding the smiley relates to moi )
philipl Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Anigo a par ailleurs confirmé que le prêt de Gaël Givet à Blackburn était «en voie de finalisation» i think that means its being finalized Anigo has confirmed that the loan is in the process of being finalised.
alexanders Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Translated to english Anigo has confirmed that the loan Gaël Givet in Blackburn was "being finalized"
nellybc Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 according to my french speaking colleague "Anigo in addition confirmed that the loan of Gaël Givet to Blackburn was “in the process of finalization”
BuckyRover Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Well that got me told. I may never post again. Although I have a feeling that anybody who plays football manager (generally the best selling of game) will agree with me. Why does Al hate me?? He even ignores me. I guess I can say what I like about him. Al loves young boys (Berne)
gumboots Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Perhaps they don't like this habit you have of repeating yourself!
Earlydoors Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The fact that Everton have recently paid £30k for the database ...errr, what ? why didn't they just pay £34.99 and open it with the editor ?
nicko Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 according to my french speaking colleague "Anigo in addition confirmed that the loan of Gaël Givet to Blackburn was "in the process of finalization" Merci. 11 o'clocker might be decent. Until then 'allez les Coyleistes.'
gumboots Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Please elaborate GB. Well, unless you edited it out yourself and know why, that was a double post.
BuckyRover Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Sorry. I thought you meant that I repeat myself generally. I'm typing this on my phone whilst in a car. It drops in and out o signal. Sometimes results in double posts.
bennyboyt11 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 ...errr, what ? why didn't they just pay £34.99 and open it with the editor ? They get the player database months before the game is realised
roversnick Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 who cares - this is nickos thread go and argue over pm or something
islander200 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 who cares - this is nickos thread go and argue over pm or something exactly there is a fm thread.
budha Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Rovers set to complete Givet swoop .. Nancy right-back Jean Calve, meanwhile, has revealed that Blackburn, Stoke and Lorient have all made an approach for him. This guy mentioned already? Just how many right backs does Nancy have? Edit: More here Calve confirms Stoke and Rovers talks
BuckyRover Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Fair enough. I was prompted to talk about FM due to our supposed interest in Chretien and Saivet. I will have to remember to pm Al my posts from now on. Don't want him to miss out on any pearls of wisdom.
