Boltinho Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Why even bother to write here if it only get's deleted. It was a rovers speculation. I am a rovers fans and been it since 1991. Sevilla winger Tom de Mul linked with a move to Rovers. http://www.aboutaball.co.uk/footballnews/V...p?ArticleID=783

steverovers Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Why even bother to write here if it only get's deleted. It was a rovers speculation a**hole. I am a rovers fans and been it since 1991. http://www.aboutaball.co.uk/footballnews/V...p?ArticleID=783 Looks like the old '3 club' rule to me
Presty On Tour Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 A nice trip to the Nou Camp for our staff then. At least it will show how he preforms against that kind of opposition and huge arena.
herbergeehh Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I hear Rovers are watching Atletico Madrid's Greek right back Seitaridis tomorrow night. They obviously have not got anyone for that position yet. With Emerton on the right flank, defensively sound as he is, Seitaridis would be a good choice behind him. Pace, attacking-minded and with a good shot on him. Not a bad choice! Any idea of his availability / price, Nicko?
Hughesy Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Nicko - if we are after a right back - does that mean Simpson wont be bought by us at the end of the season??
tony gale's mic Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 With Emerton on the right flank, defensively sound as he is, Seitaridis would be a good choice behind him. Pace, attacking-minded and with a good shot on him. Not a bad choice! Any idea of his availability / price, Nicko? He cost Athletico 12 million euros in 2006 and has played regularly for them ever since...surely he'd be easily at least £6-7 million? Glad we're looking at him, even if we don't get him it's a fair indication of the transfer funds available if we can look at £6 million right-backs.
herbergeehh Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Newcastle's Vitalfootball site claims that Crazy Joe Kinnear will be making two expensive loan moves before the game against us. John Arne Riise being one, and then another one. Do you know anything about this, Nicko? This is relevant because we will play them on Saturday, and these two will play a part according to Kinnear. Personally, I doubt Riise will go there, he's been playing more for Roma recently too.
mohelger Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Seems like he's been a regular for Athletico since he joined, including this season. So really can't se why they would sell him with much of a loss unless Athletico is in some sort of financial trouble - or Seitaridis' contract expires soon (doubt it). However, this is a 1st class rightback, pure quality. Wouldn't mind spending much of the budget on a right winger and put Emerton on rightback - but as long as we bring in a qualityplayer on the right side it looks good.
mohelger Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Nicko - if we are after a right back - does that mean Simpson wont be bought by us at the end of the season?? Wouldn't mind taking a chance on him as a backup/squadplayer if he was availible for a reasonable price (1-2 million for instance), but there isn't an option to buy at a fixed price in the loan-arrangement as far as I remember - and Ferguson usually puts rather inflated prices on his youngsters' heads doesn't he...
Fife Rover Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Sorry. I thought you meant that I repeat myself generally. I'm typing this on my phone whilst in a car. It drops in and out o signal. Sometimes results in double posts. I hope you don't mean you are doing all this while you are driving.
nicko Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I don't think Simpson is up to it. There is a real push on here for a strong and experienced right back. Seitaridis does NOT play in the major games - and I wonder if Sam knows him with his Greek connections after landing Stelios for Bolton. I don't know if Rovers will fancy him, but I've got to say he looked a real player at Porto - if he still is he would be an asset. However I have to stress he is just one of a few options for that role just now.
my_name_is_Earl Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 How is the Ryan Taylor situation looking Nicko?
Mozzer Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 any news on how that game went today.. you said you dont think zoro will be signed-has he been poor then?? simpson is young, but i still dont think he is upto it..he looks more championship or league one standard-who just hoofs the ball upfield..
Hughesy Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 £25M gets you RSC - "For $35-37m (around £25m) they [blackburn] said that I will be allowed to leave."
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 £25M gets you RSC - "For $35-37m (around £25m) they [blackburn] said that I will be allowed to leave." If the article is true then its looking like the board and Sam clearly want to keep hold of the player and have set a high price in order to put any buyers off. There is no way City, even with all their cash would pay £25 million for Roque IMO. How could they justify to the fans paying that sort of money for a player of his age and his current form?. If they made such an offer then it would set a precedent in regards to any other future purchases City make (clubs will rip them off as they know they are such a soft touch) and could have an impact on the transfer market as a whole.
my_name_is_Earl Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 £25M gets you RSC - "For $35-37m (around £25m) they [blackburn] said that I will be allowed to leave." If that's the case, I cant see Roque leaving in this window at all. However, I do worry that he will struggle to face the Rovers fans again after going from club icon to 'hugely paid wantaway' which nobody down at Ewood likes. If we received a bid in the region of twenty million pounds, I'd just accept it. Get rid of those who don't want to fight for the cause. Perhaps Sam and JW are just trying to milk City for all they've got or even having a laugh themselves at City after their apparently derogatory offer last week. Personally, both head and heart say sell, sell, sell. Perhaps one of the clauses of the deal should be that we get Sturridge on loan for the rest of the season whilst they try and sort out his contract.
Hughesy Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I think as City want Bellamy & RSC - they will have plenty upfront. We should go to them and just make it clear £15m cash + Sturridge.
tony gale's mic Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Where's all this talk of Sturridge come from? Good player but he mightn't want to come, City may well want to keep him etc.
thenodrog Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 If we received a bid in the region of twenty million pounds, I'd just accept it. I'm sure they would too Earl. Thing is it's a game. When any club puts a value on a player City set about bidding under the quoted figure and obviously seeking a compromise. By upping the asking price we are also upping City's base bid. Obvious really. Where's all this talk of Sturridge come from? Good player but he mightn't want to come, City may well want to keep him etc. Sturridge or any cash + player is stupid. I don't know why people cannot think things through properly. Allowing the agents of any such lesser players in a deal thereby allowing them the opportunity to throw a spanner in the works of the central issue by demanding excessive remuneration is just daft and imo consigned to the pre Bosman days..
TQman Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Its interesting to see Rovers in for the greek chap. Hes quite good on his day. Im suprised by the lack of transfer activity all around. Nicko, What are the chances of Kaka going to City? Im suprised Tottenham and even Aston Villa havent gone all out.. especially Villa as they are 4th.. youd think they would chase someone.. or are they happy with their squad?
hawkiiz Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 dont know how rovers did, but huddersfiel certainly played great http://www.htafc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10...1518960,00.html it says we had a lot of "internationals" playing. "on the verge of the first team". hmm
Mr Creosote Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I'm sure they would too Earl. Thing is it's a game. Allowing the agents of any such lesser players in a deal thereby allowing them the opportunity to throw a spanner in the works of the central issue by demanding excessive remuneration is just daft and imo consigned to the pre Bosman days.. Sturridge is a highly rated, young English centre forward and as such is coveted by other clubs. Pre Abu Dhabi City resisted overtures from Chelsea and Arsenal who were keen to secure his services. Under normal circumstances Rovers wouldn't stand a chance and may still not if the kid dosn't want to come. However, we now find ourselves in a position where a newly mega rich City are seemingly desperate for one of our players. Why then is it "stupid" to use this position in order to try to attain the signing of such a highly rated player. I am sure that those who work on Rovers behalf would not let this muddy the waters in terms of the RSC fee. Why is somebody suggesting we try for Sturridge "not thinking things through properly". What makes you the arbiter of what is thought through? Why do you feel the need to belittle the contribution of others?
JAL Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Nicko - if we are after a right back - does that mean Simpson wont be bought by us at the end of the season?? Come on Hughesy which Simpson have you been watching this season - HES SHYTE !
John Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Have to say, I am pretty happy with the names we are being linked with. Particularly happy that right back has been identified as an position to strengthen. However, still feel we need at least one quality addition to our midfield.
Majiball Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Yes it is nice to see names that I know such as Givet and Chretein among others. So much better than trial after trial.
