RovertheHill Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Rubbish idea! Where's the fun for Nicko in that? He's not here to be a "news ticker". I wasn't suggesting that. But as I see it there are a bunch of people who simply watch this thread and press F5. They don't contribute. They don't add anything, other than traffic and crashing the server. There could still be a discussion thread but letting the lurkers rss their specific info might ease the load a bit?

Majiball Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 At least we're being linked with 'proper' players again. Givet and Zoro aside is it not pretty much the same players as under "he who should not be named"? I do hope Whitbread can spot a player.
Oklahoma Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Nicko, it seems Makukula will be joining Bolton instead of WBA. Benfica will get more money for the loan and a bigger release clause as well. Any news on Zoro? I think he could be a good replacement for Ooijer. Same quality, Zoro is 25, Ooijer is 34 years old.

Of course, some of us long-time-lurkers are just as interested in the conversations around Nicko's news-drops as much as anything else..
socngill Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Could be me but the RSS Feed doesn't seem to be working in Opera I tried it myself with a 5 minute update and nothing. The only RSS feed i've found that doesn't seem to work. If there was a specific RSS feed for Nicko's information I would probably just look at those. As much as the contributions are interesting to read, It really distracts me from doing my work
alexanders Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Any Austrians in here or anybody who have seen Janko in action who can tell whether he is quality or not? I remember we played Red Bull Salzburg in UEFA. but can't remember if Janko was playing.
nicko Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Nicko, it seems Makukula will be joining Bolton instead of WBA. Benfica will get more money for the loan and a bigger release clause as well. Makukula is never fit...what a shocking signing.
alexanders Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 What about Bellars and Palacios to Spurs and Jenas to Internazionale - you see them happening NIcko?
Oklahoma Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Makukula is never fit...what a shocking signing. He has been fit all season and last season as well (as far as I remember).
ihtd Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Didn't Janko score against us when we played them in Salzburg? I think he did but i don't remember for sure. I remember Sav's beauitful freekick though EDIT: Zickler got the first goal, Janko came on in the 46th Minute and scored in injury time.
alexanders Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 He has been fit all season and last season as well (as far as I remember). Quality?
Oklahoma Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 He was a promissing striker, portuguese international (well, tha counts for nothing, our strikers are terrible). Had a few injuries a few years ago but has stayed fit for 2 years now. It's hard to tell if he can addapt to Premier league.
nicko Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Jenas thinks he is going to Inter Milan...hmm. Makukula's track record is awful. Would still be happier if Rovers had a right back and a cert striker up their sleeves should Roque go. By the way, if Sparky is not being backed enough to buy Bellamy where does that leave him - and Roque? Probably the most important question of the day.
Mozzer Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 porstmouth agree a fee with liverpool for jermaine pennant-any idea how much this is?? i still think we couldnt go wrong with signing him-pacey, decent crosser and can take players on.. man city arent been backed for bellamy and santa cruz-but are for kaka?? maybe thats the way the owners want to go-world class stars other then good premierleague players..
Fife Rover Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I tried it myself with a 5 minute update and nothing. The only RSS feed i've found that doesn't seem to work. If there was a specific RSS feed for Nicko's information I would probably just look at those. As much as the contributions are interesting to read, It really distracts me from doing my work Am I the only one in the whole world that nas never heard of RSS or Opera until today? Would someone care to enlighten me? Also this "hitting F5" thing..... That's another thing that I NEVER do. Simply not being computer literate it would never even occur to me. And as for the suggestion some posts back that the authorities should make the Nicko thread "Members Only" to reduce the hits on the thread.....how could that help? You have to be a member to be able to post anything. Guest are "view only".
captainhaircut Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Nicko, Is Tom Huddlestone available? He hasn't been playing much and the signings of Appiah and Palacios would push him further down the pecking order. He seems the sort of holding midfielder Sam likes. Similar to Hierro and Campo in the way he can just sit in and spray it around.
nicko Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 PENNANT - Fee will be about £2-3 million...wages ridiculous. HUDDLESTONE - Would be available.
DeadlyDirk Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Not bothered about Pennant going, he's decent but not worth the age he would command. I said earlier I've always liked Huddlestone, any idea if BFS would be interested, I'd imagine he's a £5 millionish player? Today's marked they will probably want 12m!! So what is the deal with City and Roque, they know how much we want, surely Hughes knows were not going to be pushed about over it, you'd think considering they are prepared to pay the world for Kaka they would just move on the Rocky bid or go elsewhere. Out of interest how likely is this Kaka deal? The right back position does seem a bit of bad luck at the moment, going to watch two players that didn't play for different reasons! How likely is BFS to push a deal through for someone they haven't seen personally? I guess it depends on how much faith he has in Simpson and Ooijer. Simpson isn't good enough and Ooijer isn't a right back, depends if BFS has realised that.
captainhaircut Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 PENNANT - Fee will be about £2-3 million...wages ridiculous. HUDDLESTONE - Would be available. Any interest from anyone in Huddlestone? If RSC left for a large amount, 3m on Huddlestone would be superb business.
PAFELL Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 PENNANT - Fee will be about £2-3 million...wages ridiculous. HUDDLESTONE - Would be available. Considering Sam wanted to do his transfer dealings early in the transfer window - he must be disappointed not much has happened. ok Givet and a couple of young lads for the reserves - but still no right back, right wing. The RSC situation, is a farce caused by city not knowing what they want to do - which only upsets the player and everybody else. Do you think RSC will do a stroop if he plays tomorrow or still try his best for the team?
alexanders Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 But things are opening up ! The rich clubs are buying - more players from the richs clubs available ie Huddlestone, Jenas, Sturridge, Bojinov etc.
Earlydoors Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 By the way, if Sparky is not being backed enough to buy Bellamy where does that leave him - and Roque? Probably the most important question of the day. That's what I've been asking myself about this whole Kaka thing Nicko, surely this is all a PR exercise, are they really offering this sort of money £100m + ? If so why are they piddling around with £2m increments for Bellamy and Santa Cruz ?
T4E Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 But things are opening up ! The rich clubs are buying - more players from the richs clubs available ie Huddlestone, Jenas, Sturridge, Bojinov etc. This is key to us - the manager that we've got is so important as he needs to be able to rehabilitate and improve these types of players. In my opinion we've got the second best in the business at that.
Majiball Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 PENNANT - Fee will be about £2-3 million...wages ridiculous. HUDDLESTONE - Would be available. Don't want Pennant glad we're not being linked anymore. Huddlestones a good shout, lack of pace is an issue, though not if Sam switches to 451/433. He has a good varity of passing bit like Tugay. Half way through and nothings happening I must admit I'm now getting a bit worried by it all.
