By the way...think Kaka is going to happen.

Any indications or clues as to why you think so Nicko??

I just can't get my head around this at all. Not the figures necessarily, but the whole concept. It's like Championship Manager with an "unlimited transfer budget" cheat. I really thought the standing, stature and history of a club would be more important to Kaka (who I'm sure is already making more money than he can possibly hope to spend).

4/9 with skybet..........worth a punt?

Definitely not at those odds. I'm sure if nicko says it's likely it probably is, but there's still all sorts of things that could go wrong. Maybe the drugs they've spiked him with will wear off, or Kaka will get an epiphany from his mate JC..

The whole business makes me sick to the stomach.

Had a tearful Man City insider onto me a couple of minutes ago babbling and bubbling and saying something like 'we've done it.'

Tasty wee 11 o'clocker this evening if technology does not get in the way.

Can't wait for him to injured by the likes of Cattermole

No, it will be on his debut in the Prem, and samba puts him out for the rest of the season, earning a straight red in the process.

Samba was it worth it, Um I think so, BS said the rest of the Prem had all chipped in couple of mill, if one of us good nail him, I got 50%, so I'm :D

Manchester City owner His Highness Sheikh Mansour has told friends that Brazialian superstar Kaka has signed for the club, Arabian Business can reveal.

Sheikh Mansour is understood to have told his advisors at 6pm Dubai time that Kaka had accepted the terms of the world record transfer to Manchester City from AC Milan. The deal, worth well over $150 million, is more than three times higher than the previous richest transfer in soccer history, and will also make Kaka the highest paid footballer ever with wages of over $500,000 per week.

Sheikh Mansour bought the club last September, and has already broken the British transfer record with the $50millon signing of Brazilian Robinho.

If someone gunned Sheikh Mansour down I wouldn't shed a tear...

The whole thing is utterly disgusting.

Its certainly going to be funny if Kaka comes and City get relegated. I have a friend who is a City fan and he isn't that over the moon with Kaka coming. He has strong fears on what the impact this deal will have on the future transfer market and more importantly feels that there are other areas they should be strengthening. When you look at the stats City are the second highest scorers in the league, (so goals aren’t their problem) I have to agree with him.

The deal makes me sick to the stomach as no player is worth that amount, the weekly wage is obscene.

Awwww, don't be a killjoy.

We already have Ronaldo and Robinho playing in England and now another of the world's great players is coming to play here....

....... and City could still be relegated !

City won't get relegated. Even if Kaka fails to fire he'll still produce enough flashes of genius to keep them up.

Our league has become a plaything for billionaires. Abramovich was one thing, even with him Chelsea were still well within the league of the other top clubs in Europe. This is something entirely different.

It honestly does make me feel a little nauseous.

On the other hand, Kaka could get crocked in his first match....

The league has been the plaything of rich men since the early 1990s. Jack Walker showed the way.....

I'm in the same boat Jim, I'm enjoying the ride. Eventually this will come crashing down around City's ears, but in the meantime it's fun to watch.

Jack brought in English talent, not superstars. Yes he provided an influx of money into the club but what we achieved was thanks to a good set up aswell as Jack's money. If we look at Villa, I don't have such a problem with the model they have there, yes money is being poured in but it's supporting infrastructure too, focusing on exciting young talent and players to fit the mould of the club, still upholding the philosophies that football clubs have thrived on just with a bit more money to do so with. And all the examples so far still allowed other clubs to compete with them.

There's a clear difference between that and what's going on at City. Football might aswell be horse racing.

And I wouldn't even criticise City, hell if the money's there then spend it from their point of view.

But those in charge must do something. This can't be allowed to go on, some rich bloke picking a club and ruining the competitiveness of the league.

I still can't believe Kaka would actually want to sign for Man City. I thought he may be one player who would put playing for a successful club, one of the best in Europe, as his priority but looks like I was wrong and once again he is a footballer who is more concerned about his bank balance. One minute he wants to grow old in Milan, the next City say they will give him $500,000 per week and he is off like a shot!

It would be brilliant to see Kaka in the Premiership but playing for Man City, being bought by that much and paid so much per week is just a disgrace! If Kaka is worth that much how much would Man Utd want for Ronaldo????

Anyway, to try and keep it Rovers-related, any progress with the defensive sitter Allardyce wanted or has the focus changed to right-sided players and a possible replacement for Roque? I am another who actually wouldn't mind seeing Santa Cruz go if it brings in plenty of money to help improve the team. But we would need a quality striker to replace him which I hear may be a problem. Fred or Saviola would do though wouldn't they!
