PALACIOS - Man City came in for him today...that club is messing the whole job up. Tottenham not given up but the lad does not like the idea too much.

MYSTERY LOAN ARRIVAL - I hear Portsmouth are going to bring in Edmilson from Villarreal...a legend from Barcelona days and Brazil...shrewd capture if he is still up for it.

ROQUE - No bid yet but starting to think they are sweating Rovers down...and may succeed. I think Sam has a list of players to sign WITH the money and one WITHOUT. No prizes for guessing which is the better list.

STRIKER - Hate to be a tease but I know who is coming...and hope it keeps for Sunday. This one does NOT depend on Roque going.

RIGHT BACK - There could be some progress on that front for Rovers in the next few days...one more to be watched, one possibly coming in on trial. So there is NO definite signing for that position yet.

Nicko - is it true that Palermo have bid £7 million for Janko?

Nobody is buying Janko for the £9 million Red Bull want...if it comes down it's game on - as long as Roque goes.

Do you rate the striker? Palacios, I don't see the fuss he isn't no world beater. Kaka deal still on Nicko?

He's an ok player but the fact that someone wants him alerts the brainless bunch at the council house stadium.

It's yet another nail in the coffin for us. Since Jack died, we've been a great model of how to run a football club (Ince notwithstanding), despite what some say have attracted good crowds when compared to our population and have more than held our own. City have been the opposite, terribly run with delusional fans. Just a few years ago we were 4 points off a Champions League spot.

City's rise firstly means there's another club who will always finish ahead of us, thus reducing our little "mini-league" yet further, and also the more money thats swilling around the game thats at other clubs is going to benefit those clubs lucky enough to be hit with the Sheikh's transfer cash.

It's yet another, fairly firm nail in the coffin that will eventually see us relegated in the next five years, easily, even if we stay up this season. That's more than enough time for another couple of sides to be taken over (even if not to this extent), for us to fall further and further behind in the financial stakes...and even if we stay up with the top 5 decided every year the prospects of getting into Europe will be very slim.

its a rather apocalyptic vision you hold there fella. the money won't be there forever. all these clubs with foreign benefactors- united, chelski, liverpool, villa, city, qpr, west ham etc.. it will evolve, one thing these investments are not is secure for the clubs.

PALACIOS - Arsenal won't come in at these prices. The boy doesn't really fancy London and the wrong end of the Premier League which is hurting Spurs. Quite a quiet chap who likes being near his mates. Man City should win the race...but you never know until it is done.

STRIKER - Buy. Around the £1 million class. Been watched and has obviously impressed. Hoping it keeps quiet for 24 hours, but his club may leak it.

RIGHT BACK/RIGHT WINGER - Nobody thinks Judge is ready yet...please.

Im interested in the other striker that may come should Santa Cruz move on! Good, bad or indifferent in your opinion Nicko? Price range?

i sure hope not, he's our best player...

SUGGESTION FOR THE MODS/ADMINS

Given the amount of traffic the site gets during summer/transfer windows purely based on the info Nicko posts, how about giving him a locked news posting thread with rss feeds off that thread. Then "lurkers" can simply look at their rss reader rather than constantly F5. Just a thought

I have been looking at doing something like that, it's not that simple (due to the stupid design of the in built RSS code) but it is an avenue we're exploring.

Edit - Ok, It *is* that simple, but the simple system doesn't help fix the problem at the heart of this (which is how often the website talks to the database server).

Anyway, this is probably a discussion for Ask Admin.
