Sandman Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Dailymail are saying United have made a late bid for Palacios, Is that just Wigan trying to bump the price up. And Nicko who were the two clubs who put a bid in for Delph, I'd love to see Rovers go for him at the prices being talked about, and if it's one of the smaller premiership clubs that get him they will be making a very sound investment, I think that lad is an absolute gem.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Not sure how a £1m can be exciting unless it is a player letting his contract run down. EDIT: That probably sounds a little spoilt. It just seems cheap for someone who is young and "exciting". Time for some digging methinks.

It just seems cheap for someone who is young and "exciting". Time for some digging methinks. My thoughts exactly...... 1M buys you nothing these days! your talking 11M for Wayne Bridge...... The worlds gone mad,(well half of Manchester has) cant see anyone "exciting" being sold for 1M!!!

Hi Mack Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 stead was around that mark and he wasnt even from the prem sounds like a bargain But...... When we signed Stead, Average players werent being bought for stupid money!

Torgeir Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Zenit have said that Pavel Pogrebnyak is available for loan or transfer. Bolton have offered to take him on loan until the end of the season. He's a superb player. Similar mould to RSC. If Bolton fancy their chances, surely we could have a look? Nicko, heard anything on this Bolton move? Superb indeed. Was first choice ahead of Pavlyuchenko before the Euro's but had meniscus problems and didn't play...would love to see him play for Rovers. Bolton are interested, did Sam pass this one up?
Majiball Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 PALACIOS - Arsenal won't come in at these prices. The boy doesn't really fancy London and the wrong end of the Premier League which is hurting Spurs. Quite a quiet chap who likes being near his mates. Man City should win the race...but you never know until it is done. STRIKER - Buy. Around the £1 million class. Been watched and has obviously impressed. Hoping it keeps quiet for 24 hours, but his club may leak it. RIGHT BACK/RIGHT WINGER - Nobody thinks Judge is ready yet...please. Man City lets sign every player then we'll be the best/only club in the world. So a Striker??? Any Clues, is he any good?
alexanders Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 STRIKER - Buy. Around the £1 million class. Been watched and has obviously impressed. Hoping it keeps quiet for 24 hours, but his club may leak it. Nick Blackman?
Eddie Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 He's already signed, so he'll be talking about someone new.
Mr Creosote Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 isn't £1m what the Facecombers paid for Akinbiyi?
alexanders Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I was just messing around. Didn't he also say it was abroad ? In the price range £1million? Maybe from some backyard league scandinavian, icelandic, finnish or something. I guess since Sam already was in Spain it has to be a striker from either Athletic Bilbao or Osasuna who played against each other on Thursday. I guess it is Javier Portillo - a youth product from Real Madrid currently playing for Osasuna or Ion Vélez from Athletic Bilbao. I love this guessing game
imy9 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 A young foreign striker is far better than investing £3 million on a 30 yr old from the championship (Beattie!). Lets wait until the player is signed before we get disappointed/excited. Centre back signed, new striker, all we need now is a right back, right winger and a new striker if RSC leaves. Nicko- are there any players that Sam is looking to offload, for example Gallagher was spouting off in the press yesterday that Sam has told him that he can leave.
nicko Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 ROVERS STRIKER - Bit of experience, but a little untried. Sounds like a squad man to be honest. Name him tonight...but feel free to buy the Sunday People instead. PALACIOS - Man City are in hard, Man U not [yet]. Good player. Lots of other stuff flying around, have to go.
alexanders Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Nicko, did they watch him on Thursday? Edin Dzeko - might be him ? Bosnia INternational playing for Wolfsburg, but I see that he is a Portsmouth target as well and might be a lot more expensive than £1 million.
philipl Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 In reply to the Hughes hates us posters, that particular problem was started by Ince slagging off Hughes and Bowen when the players reacted badly to the first two training sessions under Ince and the pensioners. It got worse by Ince loudly blaming Hughes for leaving an inadequate playing squad when the results started slipping. The final words of that Sum article are worth repeating: But Allardyce hit back: “I don’t give two hoots if they decide to look elsewhere. The money is not important to me. “What is the money going to do for me? There are no players out there you can hang your hat on and go and buy. “Nobody as good as Roque Santa Cruz is, anyway. “Mark Hughes put pressure on me? I don’t think so.”
