mattyboy6000 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 At last some intelligence returning to the thread! pfft. what's the worse that could happen? santa cruz, who has neither been playing of late nor performing all season, leaves on deadline day. we take a striker on loan if need be. some people on here (not directed at you, phil) sound like there's an empty seat at the local WI meeting with their name on it

Eddie Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 If any of our cross-Channel chums can explain his lack of action it would be well-received. Gueye was injured quite badly in an international game a while back and that kept him out on-and-off for a bit and was the cause of a bit of controversy as he was very publicly critical of the player who made the challenge if I remember correctly. He's certainly not a player who's had an injury plagued career. He's also struggled a bit for form recently and Metz have quite a few options up front (relative to the standard of the league in which they play). I don't think his fitness would be too much of a concern. He probably lacks a slight amount of match-fitness at this moment in time but he shouldn't be carrying any serious injuries and I'd think he could go straight onto the bench for a game.
captainhaircut Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Our Newcastle office are adamant a bid is in from Ashley for Bruce. Audacious. Surely not? Mind you would be a genius move and Wigan are all but safe.... Nicko, you heard anything on this? My housemate is a Newcastle fan and is very interested to say the least. Lol. Also, has the Cretien bid been completed dropped in favour of others now?
nicko Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Nicko, you heard anything on this? My housemate is a Newcastle fan and is very interested to say the least. Lol. Also, has the Cretien bid been completed dropped in favour of others now? Newcastle going for Steve Bruce was in a paper on Sunday but it is an old rumour that Bruce has always been happy to fuel. I don't think the Toon could afford his transfer fee, could they? Rovers still have not found their right back...so Chretien is very much a possible...even if his understudy has taken the chance of coming over here to prove he is as good - and cheaper.
nicko Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 There may be a few heads rolling at Man City if this Kaka snub thing is right. Wow.
AndyR Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Looks like Kaka has decided to stay in Milan, 10-1 to happen on Betfair now. Leaves City with the money to buy Roque or will they now go for Messi?
Bobby G Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I think Milan wanted him out. He wasnt convinced. Respect to him...
Billy Castell Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Blimey, SSN will be beside themselves. More sensationalist crap after declaring Citeh a big club with the signing. I read on teletext Citeh fans calling Man United fans jealous after this years' 'worlds best player' was apparently leading a relegation threatened club to Champions League glory. Hmmmmmm....................... I think RSC might be back on. What is the deal with Sturridge? Will he sign a new contract, or might he be used as bait for RSC?

hawkiiz Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 REeally! thats lovely! not many players do that anymore. respect to Kaka! and i still think the friedel/robbo deal was great. friedel is good yes, but what would we do when he retires? now we got one of the best keepers in the league (he is getting better and better every week) for almost nothing. great deal. period. how much have rovers spent this season? anyone know? (net spending)
TugaysMarlboro Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 ...which he is. Don't watch much Ligue 1, but I guess your opinion is that Calve is as good as Cheritien? Could you explain what he's like, how he plays, if he offensive minded? Anything really Eddie. Just shed some light on them both if you can.
LessThanJake Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Where is the Kaka story being reported? everywhere. 11pm-er tonight, Nicko?
Bobby G Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Statement is out...Milan virtually admit they accepted the offer, and left it up to Kaka to decide and also admit that Kaka did not ask for any raise or renegotiation on his own contract either.

(net spending) Sorry - though I think Robinson could end up being an adequate replacement for Friedel - he isn't getting better every week. It is just that the defence is better - combined with us playing weaker opposition. Until he comes for the ball at crosses and corners in the same way that Friedel did - he has a way to go before he truly replaces Brad.

He's slightly more balanced as a full-back in that he is the better defender of the two in my mind. He is slightly less of a threat going forward, although not by too much, but he is far less likely to score. Basically he does the better job of fulfilling the role of a full-back, but he may not always be as eye-catching. They're both young players so I think signing either one of them would represent good business.
Majiball Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 hear, hear. Just got back from the Pool derby and 1-1 evertons one and only shot on target. They think its all over it is now.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 There may be a few heads rolling at Man City if this Kaka snub thing is right. Wow. According to Bryan Swanson, a player at Man City was rumoured to have told Kaka not to come and stay at Milan. Brilliant!
BuckyRover Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 By the way...think Kaka is going to happen. 4/9 with skybet..........worth a punt? No
Billy Castell Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Citeh went for a Brazilian, and then ended up being caught with their pants down and looking very silly.

Hi Mack Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Did that player play in midfield by any chance? Michael Ball is Very good friends with KAKA you know!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 To all those Podolski lovers out there: Podolski to return to Cologne in the summer to sign for 1. FC Köln.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Citeh went for a Brazilian, and then ended up being caught with their pants down and looking very silly. Indeed Its official the deal is off: http://www.mcfc.co.uk/default.sps?pagegid=...;newsid=6625476
